PODS is a terrible company. I always received conflicting information or not all of the information I needed. It was sheer luck that we pulled this move off. Every time I called in, the price was different from what I had been quoted. The original move I scheduled wasnt even possible, and we only found that out a few days before the move. Then, because we had to change our dates for the start of the move, we had to change the delivery dates as well to avoid being charged for a whole extra month of storage. However, PODS first told us that there was a grace period so no need to change anything. Their OH affiliate "magically" doesnt honor the grace period. Again, total luck that I found this out in time. I dont know if any of the information I was provided was true. Who knows? PODS certainly doesnt care. If you have a simple move, it may be ok, but if you even need just a month of storage (like we did), that is too much for them to handle. They also charged us incorrectly, and it took three weeks, a complaint to the BBB, and some ridiculous phone calls to get the refund. After we submitted our complaint to the BBB, PODS called to apologize and offered us a little more money as an apology. They said we just had to sign a release and wed get our refund. Turns out, the release said we had to remove all past complaints and never talk about what happened with PODS if we accepted the money. I didnt accept, and instead just got the original refund we were due. Id rather make sure no one else ends up in our situation than get a few extra dollars to keep my mouth shut.

POD Expensive. Container is the worst on the market. First let me say I tried to find pictures on Pods website of the Pods inside layout with no luck and I now see why. While "Pod" started a trend of alternative moving, the price and (most notably) Pod interior is a deal breaker. WHY? Items, namely furniture must be tied down during transport or it will shake, rattle, get bumped, shift, move, rub etc. ALL furniture moving trucks have builtin systems for securing items (especially furniture) to prevent damage from movement during transport. Some truck transport compartments have securing slots on the side walls intended for ridged/bar systems.. (mostly used by commercial movers) but that design has many drawbacks, like a supply of bars to stow. Some truck transport compartments (mostly consumer rented trucks) have "D" rings on the walls, better but it also limits where you can strap or rope an item. The remainder of furniture trucks have a vertical skeleton system of metal/wood. On top of that is a horizontal metal/wood system that surrounds the inside. It is made up of wood/metal strips every foot or so from bottom to top. The wood strips are the best solution for securing furniture from movement because you can tie off items at any given place with your strapping/webbing/rope to prevent damage from movement during transport. Pod uses a (post screwed) consumer grade eyelet system on two posts per side. A very poor, worst case securing system that feels like an afterthought.

UPDATE Aug 2016: In fairness, Id like to update our experience with PODs. A man from PODs (not sure if he was from the Urbancrest franchise or a corporate office) called us after I wrote the review below. He was polite and very apologetic for the poor service we received. He ultimately reimbursed my sister and her husband for the cost of the U-Haul. Maybe they are trying to turn things around at this location. ORIGINAL REVIEW: They really deserve a "0" score. Customer service is the pits. I was on the phone for 40 minutes--I am not exaggerating--trying to set up the delivery of the pod from their storage site to our home. Although we had been told earlier that they would have no trouble navigating our driveway, we learned the day before the delivery that they could not get the truck up the driveway after all. They took it instead to my sisters home and we had to get a U-Haul to get the stuff over to my home. We also were told that someone would call the evening before to give us a 3-hour window for the delivery the next day. No one called. On the day of delivery, we called them. They still could not give a delivery time. And they still havent picked-up the empty pod sitting in front of my sisters garage, even though they had that pickup scheduled for three days ago! This company is the worst. Be smart and take your business elsewhere.

I dont write reviews, but I have to say that the customer service provided to me but the owner of the business was next to awful. I scheduled a POD a week in advanced, and the site survey (consisting of Google Maps) decided that they "couldnt" deliver the requested POD. I explained that the previous time I used their service, there was no problem with pick up and delivery. I also explained that the only difference now was the parallel driveway, that existed now that wasnt there at the time of previous delivery over a year ago. As I spoke to the owner of the company he was more adamant, on why they couldnt deliver a smaller POD than what was delivered a year and a half earlier. He offer me a 24 hour pick up and delivery. Which I explained wasnt possible due to the scheduled labor I had already set up. The owner seemed more set on finding excuses on how not to help a willing paying customer, than to find a solution to the problem. I will never understand the business plan of turning away a client, instead of going above and beyond to find a solution. Id save $30 going someplace else, and got better customer service there too.

The worst business ever! We schedule a drop off/pick up service so we could pack unneeded items to get our house ready to list on the market. They drop the POD and inform us they will not be picking it up and storing it at their facility. They agreed to this full service a week ago. They refuse to hold up their end of the deal. DONT TRUST THIS COMPANY!!!!! Lets also not forget they tore up my lawn, just to tell me sorry you filled out a waiver. So, basically, they drove onto my property, tore it up, and then took their POD back and left. All we get in return in a corporate office that doesnt take responsibility and a local business that doesnt want to hold up a deal that was already made and paid. Again, DONT TRUST THIS COMPANY!!! If I could have left no "stars" I would have.

I moved within the same city, by a distance of between five and six miles. I put items in the POD in the fall of 2014 (reducing excess furniture and clothing, etc to make my house more marketable). I was able to keep the POD at my house and take my time getting it packed. It was amazing how much stuff we put in there! My house didnt sell until the following Spring, so my items were in storage for quite a while. I moved into my new place in June of 2015 and had the POD delivered that summer. Everything was exactly as it had been packed by myself and others in my family. My experience was very good and all of the drivers were nice and professional. I would certainly recommend them to others.
