After many long years of mediocre to hideous service at this post office, I have finally been moved to comment when my visit today was even worse than Ive long come to expect. The man behind the counter, name of Lyle, summoned me with a pointed finger--pointed first at me and then at the spot where he wanted me to stand--and nary an uttered syllable. He did not greet me in any way verbally. His first words were to ask if I wanted priority, first class, or what ever the cheapest option was for my package, and since his little machine showed me only the most expensive one, I had to ask for the other prices. So Im expected to be psychic as well as quiet and patient while my lunch hour ticks away with only two workers manning the counter? I get it, okay? Its a terrible place to work; maybe the entire USPS system is tough to work for. But a better attitude and courteous treatment of customers--perhaps a smile?--would go a long way toward cheering the place up for everyone, even the sourpusses behind the registers. When Lyle finished giving me change, he handed me the receipt and said it contained a tracking number. Thats it. Why did I expect to be thanked for my patronage? Use the Philomath Post Office when you can, Friends. Out there they know how treat customers like human beings for whose custom they are grateful.

First off--the Post office is terrible to deal with wherever you are. But if youre new to town, do yourself a favor & get your PO box at Philomath. Its worth the gas to never have to deal with these employees in particular. I only wish there was a Horrible-Poor option to choose. The United States Postal Service is, in general, just the worst. Im so sick of this pseudo-governmental rottenness I can hardly stand it. But what can we do? Our horrifying embarrassment of a government has limited us to the point that free-market capitalism cant touch this "business". We have no choice but to keep this abomination afloat with our taxes & our postage dollars. The CORVALLIS post office specifically is a generally low-grade specimen of an already awful "service". They should be ashamed & embarrassed by the total lack of customer service or satisfaction. Also--for the governmentally regulated pay & pension theyre getting--maybe mop the floors? Proud to put my name publicly on my disdain for the USPS "service". Nick Walton Corvallis Oregon

I lost a prescription by mail and called the service, they said to call the corvallis post office and I did. A few days( a weekend went by and I still had not located it. More phone calls to both and then my very kind and hardworking postal carrier came with todays mail and asked to see where the mail comes into the house as he remembered clearly making the delivery to this address. The inside box was empty but as often happens the weight of the mail will pop the inner door open. But we looked indoor and out and the n he glanced down at a paper bag sitting on a chair nearby and asked what is that? Sitting int he bag was my order. I would never have looked in that bag for a million years. Evidently the mail had come in with its usual weight hit the edge of a table and bounced the light weight postal package in to the large paper bag. Thank heavens for my great mail man and his keen eyes. I think the Corvallis PO did a very good job on this matter as did PPS. They really put my mind at ease. Thank you Corvallis Post Office!!!!!!

I am a regular eBay seller, and am happy to print most of my postage at home. Going to the Corvallis Post Office is usually a nightmare. The line moves slow, they are almost always under-staffed, and more than once, their scales have been off - of course to my disadvantage. Some of the staff is nice, but still... its most often a headache here. Theres one older woman cashier who is always rude and unpleasant, never without a bad attitude and stink-eye, never a pleasure to deal with. Any time Ive tried to call their business line, there is usually a busy signal (due to no call waiting) or just no answer. However, they have been helpful with lost or missing packages, even calling to follow up and alert me of delivery status. I want to be enthusiastic for the USPS, as they do serve a good purpose, but our particular post office could use some shaping up.

Going here feels like walking into a mausoleum. Staff is rude, bossy, and completely unhelpful. They charge an arm and a leg to help you with a passport, and have no imagination in serving the customer. They help each customer at a slow pace and do not have any sense of urgency when there is a long line. Often this is a stake out for local homeless and they camp at the doors. They can be quite pushy and the post office doesnt seem to do anything to discourage them accosting their customers - one woman in line behind us said she hated coming here because of it and felt quite threatened. I would use other shippers and avoid if you can.

Lost my package. Tracking service said it was out for delivery. College never got it. Nice. Ok, Ill call them. Oh, I can only call from 10AM to 3PM on week days. Thats nice, considering I have class and cant just dip out to call USPS. So I call the next day at noon. The number has been disconnected. Are you kidding me. So I call another help line that USPS has set up. I get connected to a robot. I can hold my mail or change my mailing address. Because I choose nothing while waiting for another option, it hangs up on me. I have never had a single good experience with USPS. Avoid it at all costs.

Horrible service... mostly from one specific woman who works there. She wears a bun, glasses, almost always there. (Didnt get her name, but I will.) Ive been in Corvallis for 4 years now, and its the same thing from her every time... shes not helpful, cocky and rude. In my last experience, she became very flustered for having to watch me sign a single paper and stamp the postal date on my envelope. She didnt know what to do, so told her exactly what I needed. She didnt even need to mail out those documents.

USPS is getting worse and worse. I just had my package shipped with FedEx for half your cheapest price and half the time you would. FedEx employees were so helpful and made sure my package was extra secure while your attendants always make sure to abruptly point out that they will not help tape or lend me a sharpie if I happen to need either when I BUY one of your boxes. I get my FedEx packaging for FREE. It has self adhesive strips on it too! Youre horrible, expensive and you lost half my Christmas cards!!!

What I like about the Corvallis Post Office is that they dont just operate like robots-theyre flexible, personable, and easy to talk to. Ive had basically good service with them 90% of the time and then that 10% of the time where something out of the ordinary happens like you go out of town, a package goes to the wrong address, your grandma doesnt write down your apartment number, theyre able to just make adjustments and help you out.
