I recently moved to Portland and was looking for a mechanic I could trust. My first experience with A-1 was when my steering fluid leaked and I took it to them and they fixed it for free because it only took them 5 minutes to identify and address the issue. I knew I had 2 other issues with my car from my cross-country move so when I went in for a full diagnostic, not only did they correctly identify the issues, but they didnt try to upsell anything. I was so impressed I brought my second car in for an inspection and they said "your car is in great shape, we dont recommend doing anything, just come back when you need an oil change." Ive never had a mechanic not try to upsell something. The team is knowledgeable and friendly (and take time out of their day to drive you home so you dont have to wait at the shop), the prices are fair, and most importantly, you can trust what they say. I highly recommend A-1 if you need a mechanic or are looking to switch to a better one.

I took my 2003 ford explorer in. My tires were bald, 2 barings needed to be replaced, it was in SERIOUS need of a tune up and oil change. I am a single mom of 5 so I did as much price checking I could and read a ridiculous amount of reviews to make sure I was getting the best deal. Everyone I spoke to said if they did a good job the amount they charged would be a great deal for all the work that needed to be done. I have my ride back and I will never take my vehicles anywhere else. Not only did they do a great job but they had it detailed, it looked and drove like a new suv. The people are straight forward honest and kind. Thank you Brian, Lisa, and everyone who worked on my suv! You have my trust and loyalty.

My fan stopped working in my car so I couldnt use the defroster in the front, so I called and asked if I could come in that day. They said yes but told me they might have to order the part and might take a day or two. They checked out the car, they said they had the part and I was in and out of there asap. It was cheaper then the quote by the way. Also, as we were leaving I noticed the heater worked better than it ever had before. It heated up fast and it put out the heat much better. I got the car a year after it came out and it has never worked as great as it does now. The staff was super friendly and did a great job. If you have a car issue, I fully recommend them!

I strongly recommend this shop. I have been bringing my car here since the previous owners had the place. This new owner is just as great. I called them this morning to see if they could get me in for new tires. They thought to ask what condition my current tires were in. These guys actually came to my house today to help me out with a flat so I could get the car re-tired right away. We are a single car family so this was not just incredibly kind and super service orientated of them, it was much appreciated by us!

My car was "repaired" with a cheap alternative to OEM parts. I specifically asked if they would use OEM replacement parts and was promised that would be the case. I get the car back still with the same issue although it had improved a bit, took it to the dealership and they showed me the actual part A-1 had installed and that it was not OEM, but rather a cheap part. They would not take it back and demanded payment. I paid and got out of there as soon as I could. I would stay away!

brought my car there 3 times now, everytime been superb all there quotes have been 20 dollars within what they quoted or under. Brian has been the best mechanic I have ever met prices are average, better then most places, offer triple AAA discount. replaced my clutch , fixed my car when a puddle got the best of me . overall great experiences, really good on fast pace getting your car in and out. thank Brian and the A1 team :) much appreciated<3

Couldnt be happier with my trip to A-1 Automotive. They got my vehicle in immediately, and even gave me a ride home. My repair was done in a matter of hours, and the price was more than reasonable. They are extremely knowledgeable, and never pressure you for unnecessary repairs (like most auto shops do). My repair was done perfectly, and I left feeling like I got a great deal. Very positive experience. Thank you for your honestly, willingness to answer all my questions and ability to repair my exhaust leak under what the dealership was going to charge. If I was the owner I would make sure Brian is well compensated because his customer service is off the chart and someone might steal him away.

We were having trouble with a leak that was dripping into our car. We are from out of town and picked A-1. They were great. They diagnosed the problem before they touched the car then they got right on the repair and we were on our way in about 30 minutes. I am very impressed and am happy to recommend them to anyone.

I went to A-1 initially because a family friend was a mechanic there. He moved on, but I stayed with A-1 because they are professional, helpful and they dont just tell you what to do, they discuss what to do and what to plan ahead for in the future. Trust is something earned and A-1 has earned that trust hands down.

I have been using this company through two owners. A 1 has been outstanding during my 18 years using them. The current owner has even improved from their outstanding history. The care they show, explanations are great and honestly care about doing a good job. This is hard to find today. Great job
