It all started on a Saturday.. simple oil change and flush turned into a nightmare. I had discovered the valve cover gaskets on my 2005 Outback had failed. Quickly, I made contact with my local Subaru dealership to have the work done. Wow, the cost was astronomical and a bit hard to believe.. the search began. I found Steves imports online through a simple search for Subaru mechanics. They were closed for the weekend, but I was determined to get a quote from someone. Luckily, they have an email feature to get across your message during non business hours. Email sent, and my search continued. Monday rolled around and I received a call from tony, at Steves imports. First of all, I contacted 5 places on Saturday.. not only was Steves the first to get back to me, turned out they were the only ones to contact me from my email inquiry. Tony left me a message and I called back as soon as I could. He was busy, go figure. Waited for a call back, and before long found myself making another call to them (2 hours had past since initial contact). Tony was again out of the office, but Kayla was happy to help me. I explained my needs.. and she gave me a solid quote (nearly half the price that Subaru quoted). After going over both of our schedules, I was committed to an 8:30am drop off to have my valve cover gaskets replaced! Today cam, and I was very excited. I showed up on time, and my car was taken with the understanding Id receive a call after the car was inspected, so we could discuss the ins and outs of what needed attention aside from what I had come in for. WOW.. I was a little flabbergasted by the suggestions, but this is something every shop will go over. At least, any shop that cares to share the same road with you! An inspection this thorough, gave me a very good starting point for important repairs a 12 year old car needs. Honestly, Im surprised it wasnt more. Tony went over every detail that the tech was concerned about, and even reminded me of a couple things I had let be and forgot about. Nothing was so bad I needed it done today, but suggested in the near future have adddressed (bushings, p/s pump, oil cooler). The service took a bit longer than expected, but it was very very thourough! The tech even vacuumed and washed my car before I picked it up! I was a little hesitant to take my car to a shop I was unfarmiliar with. All the horror stories Ive heard over the years have tainted me.. but Steves imports is not a knock off. They know what theyre doing, they clearly love what they do, and it reflects in the customer service and attention to the details. I couldnt of been happier with the service from mechanical to customer. Hands down a great company. They keep a swanky, clean bathroom too! Will most certainly be coming back for futurue services. Thank you Tony and Kayla!

I just bought an 83 VW Golf. The instrument cluster is broken (read: speedometer & tachometer). Being sick of spending ALOT of money on our 3 vehicles, I decided to shop around instead of going directly to Bradshaws Service Center). I called Steves to get a rough estimate of cost of replacement and time til repair. The girl I spoke with was very rude, the customer service cliche story - she made me feel like I was really inconveniencing her by trying to give them business. She asked for the VIN # of the vehicle (Q: who does that? A: no one Ive ever dealt with). She said she would have to do some research and she would call me back shortly. This was Monday. Today is Thursday. I havent heard back. Funny, I called Bradshaws after I called Steves and was told some research needed to be done and I would receive a callback shortly. Within the hour Brian from Bradshaws called me back and told me before I go replacing the whole cluster I should have it checked out because the problem is often electrical or sensor related - which would be far cheaper to fix. He also gave me some more valuable info and asked me some more questions related to the problem. Interestingly, my first impression was that Steves was more concerned about getting the most money out of me rather than providing good service. Now I have to wonder because it seems they dont want my business at all! Who doesnt call back a customer who wants to give you money?! I will not be finding out whether their work is shoddy or not. Save yourself time and frustration - go straight to Bradshaws for no BS, good work and great customer service!

First of all, the girl at the counter, Dee, was rude and unprofessional. I had my car towed there after it overheated. They offered me a loaner car, which I thought was great and I accepted it. So then they come up with a quote that was over $6800! I couldnt believe it, so I ended up doing my own research on the web and found another way for them to repair the issue and went back to them for a second quote (good thing I did my research). Because they ended up requoting it at $1800. After all of this, I decided that I would need to save money for a few weeks before I could have it completed. So I returned the loaner car and paid the $150 for the diagnostic service, (which is higher than anywhere else). This was on a Friday. I told Dee that I would try to get my car towed out of there on that day, but I couldnt get it done before they closed, so I arranged it for Monday. She calls me Monday morning and informs me that they are charging me $30 a day for my car sitting there from the moment I had it towed to them until I could get it towed out, on Monday! They NEVER told me this upfront, I didnt agree to it, and I knew nothing about it until Friday when I went in to pay the diagnostic bill. She says they wont release my car unless I pay the storage charges. And then she says that they decided to cut the amount in half to $165! I argued and still disputed it with her, but when the tow truck driver got there, they wouldnt release my car! I had to pay this unfair charge so I could get my car back! DONT USE THIS PLACE, THEY RIP PEOPLE OFF!!

Well your worst automobile nightmare happened to me a few weeks ago. I was driving down 84E and and just before Hood River a noise so terrible came from my engine that it sounded like two guys were having a hatchet fight. Tow truck comes. Checks the car. NO oil. We have the car towed to Portlands Hyundai dealer and they say that, while its still under warranty, they wont fix it because Jiffy Lube installed the oil filter incorrectly. Ugh. I call our lawyer and he gets Bryan from Steves Imports on the phone who, ironically, used to work at Jiffy Lube many moons ago. Long story short, Steves helped me to convince Jiffy Lube of their errors and make them pay for a new engine. Who else would do that? Moreover Bryan Courtney became more like my friend through the process as he had to juggle business, moving my poor car around their lot and doing everything he could to make getting a new engine as swift, affordable and painless as possible. I know that he was in the middle of a bottom up complete 1967 Porsche restoration during my Hyundai episiode, so these people can obviously handle any level of automobile mastery and not lose site of being personable, understanding and, well, downright human when it comes to helping an average Joe like myself get his Hyundai back on the road. Many thanks Steves! Kurt Doslu
