I have been going to this place for years for my oil changes. Im willing to pay $33 for an oil change if I know Im getting good service and good quality. However I will never go back to these guys. Last time I got my oil change they left my oil cap off. I drove to work in Clackamas and then on the way home notice that smoke was coming out from my hood. What?! Cap was still underneath hood. Took it in the next morning they looked over fluid level and didnt really say much. This time, I go in, they are booked out til 1pm. I have to pick up my son from school so that wont work for me. I schedule appt at 9am the next day. Drop my car off. The guy at the front desk asks me when i need it back. I told him "as soon as possible" and ask that they call me when they are done. It usually takes a little over an hour... Im sitting at my little coffee shop for an hour and 45 mins. No call. Walk over since they must be close to being done. And they hadnt even started. The same guy at the desk was like oh, Ill get it in right now. Not going to work for me since I was leaving to go out of town!!! Thats why I scheduled an appointment!!! Wth? I told him about my dissatisfaction with this appointment and the last and he seemed to care less. They care less about customer retention. They wont get any more of my money.

Air Conditioner Repair I recently had a small accident with my BMW that involved replacing the valance and some small parts near the front under carriage of the car. The shop that did this work said they charged the air conditioner when they repaired and replaced the other parts needed. But when I received the car back the air conditioner was not working. They told me to find a garage that specialized in air conditioners as there may be other problems and they did not have the equipment to properly test it. I searched the internet and decided to go to Art of Maintenance Auto Repair in NE Portland on MLK. The reviews I read were favorable and they had all the right equipment to do the job. I had expected a big problem and costly repair as the last mechanic implied there may be a bigger problem. Art of Maintenance called me after testing to say it only needed to be re-charged. They checked the belts and the lines and a leak test and it all checked out. I got out of there spending less than $100. I really appreciated the honesty and professionalism of this company; definitely a garage that can be trusted and knows what their talking about.

I called before heading there to make sure they could get me in to diagnose a power steering leak. I got there around one or so, and the car wasnt looked at until the next morning. Thats all fine and well. What was particularly wrong was this: their diagnosis was that the power steering pump was cracked (about $450), the lines "might" be leaking (bringing the pump up to about $750), and that the rack and pinion was leaking (about another $800 or so). This left me clearly stunned, as a fill of the pump lasted nearly a week--I wouldnt think that possible if the whole system was leaking. Nonetheless, I paid the fifty dollars for the diagnosis, and took my car to another mechanic. This mechanic TIGHTENED THE LINES connected to the power steering pump (they were only loosened, somehow), and changed a gasket between the pump and resevoir. Less than a hundred dollars later, the problem was fixed, and the fluid is still in there three weeks later. I got charged $50 for them to falsely and slowly tell me that my entire power steering system needed to be replaced for a single gasket.

I was downtown last weekend when my car suddenly started having problems. I was at a shop on NW 23rd and the car struggled to start. I finally got it started however it still sounded very strange. I puled out of the parking lot and started driving to find a local auto shop. Suddenly my car temp went to extreme hot in seconds. I knew there was an immediate problem. We got to the auto shop to find they were closed on weekends. Fortunately my friend with my had AAA and had my car towed to Art of Maintenance. They are AAA Certified and boy am I glad that first shop was closed. Dans team quickly diagnosed my problem. The radiator fan was not reconnected after the starter was changed at another mechanic shop (to remain nameless) less than a month ago. Plugged it back in and I was good to go back to the Starlight Parade Festivities. I have found my future mechanic! You better believe I went to the nameless mechanic shop to get reimbursed for the diagnostic cost and will be visiting Art of Maintenance this weekend to give them all of my needed repair business.

I had a check engine light come on for an egr valve, took the car to a dealership and was quoted an outrageous price for this repair. I started calling around to try to find a better price and this place quoted me something I felt was more fair. I take the car in, they say that they have to do their own diagnosis, then come back with the exact same diagnosis as the dealership, and the price is now $150 dollars higher than it was on the phone! And then they had the gall to try to sell me another $400 in additional services on top of that! Total ripoff artists. Dont waste your time or money! Edit: On picking up the car they did waive the diagnosis fee because I made a stink about it. I still wouldnt recommend them though.

My car has a tricky electrical problem that happens infrequently. While they couldnt pinpoint the problem with certainty they made sure that everything was working properly (i.e. no problems with the alternator, battery, etc.) They did suggest a potential source of the problem (related to the door locks) to which they suggested a potential solution (when locking the door make sure the key is in the vertical position). So far this seems to be working. Anyway, get this, because they couldnt say that they definitively fixed my problem they charged me NOTHING. Given their excellent level of service when I paid nothing, Im excited to go back to them and see what happens when I pay for a service.

Bought a used car with a long service history at this shop, so I gave them a try. Ive read some reviews here, and yes, these folks are busy. The three times Ive been in (oil changes, routine maintenance) theyve been honest, fair, and seemingly a little hurried. Most recently after a serpentine belt replacement, I could tell it needed adjusting as it was making some noise (not a good sign). Man on phone tried to push me to the following week, but I pushed back. He heard me and got me in that day. It was a quick fix, they did it with a smile and of course, no charge. I trust their mechanics and their service managers. Clean waiting area with wifi, restroom, tv and free cans of soda.
