These guys were totally fine; admittedly I dont have much to compare them to on account I havent taken all that many cars to a mechanic, so for a layman, they were great. If youre anything like me (and you probably are reading Google Reviews), youre just looking for a place to take your car into and are trusting that the Internets aggregated reviews will point you in the right direction and do the research for you. My experience with these guys was as follows: I saw one or two bad reviews about them here on Google, both written by the types of people who just sound like they want to be angry about something, and both were responded to by the business owners, which to me at the very least says they care. Everyone else wrote pretty good reviews, so I decided to give these guys a chance. They have bankers hours and I work bankers hours, so (like other places) they had a nice drop-off system where you could just take your car in, drop it off, and theyll look at it whenever. This part was seamless, wed setup an appointment within a pretty quick timeframe, they asked some basic questions (one of which I sure I answered wrong cause Im stupid about cars), and all was set. There is a bus stop right out front, so Id advise timing your drop-off around that. When they had my car in the shop, they called me and let me know theyd found a problem (which I was ready for as I inherited the car/was sure it had never been taken into a shop), and that the problem, while not crazy terrible, was big enough that it would cost a decent chunk of change. They were nice enough to give me the option to live with this problem and accept the risks, or pay the chunk o change and get it taken care of now. There was no pressure here to go either way, which was awesome. It was also awesome that they called me at all, because to me every penny counts, so it was nice to be ready for the damage instead of just going ahead with it and billing me without any say. I conceded to it and trusted them (they are mechanics after all), and that was that. Theyd fixed my car, given it the mileage service, and it was ready the same day of the appointment. All was great, Id come back in a heartbeat.

I took my ‘03 Jetta to these guys two weeks ago to get the timing belt replaced and the 100k mile service, and as usual they were friendly on the phone when scheduling the service and had no problem taking the time to walk me through what they’d be doing and answer any questions, even though it was obvious they were busy. On the day of the service, they called me as they were working on my car to fill me in on their progress and to recommend various maintenance, which has been typical of the previous times Ive taken my car to them, so expect great communication. Unfortunately, one week later my engine started spraying fluid everywhere, so I had it towed back to them. They assured me that they would make it a priority to check out what had happened, and sure enough Rene called me just a few hours later to tell me I could come pick my car up, as it turned out just to be a minor issue. Because they had done a pretty involved service just 7 days prior, I did feel the need to ask if there was any way they could have had something to do with it (if he had said no I wouldnt have argued), but before I could even finish my sentence he told me that although it was unlikely, he wasnt going to charge me for any of it as a show of good will. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate that, and this was even after he had spent the extra time to put my car back on the lift to ease my paranoia that oil was leaking from somewhere. When I picked up my car, I also discovered that they had replaced the broken key-ring part of my key, free of charge (normally $15), which was totally unexpected and very cool of them! They seriously went above and beyond on this one even though they didnt have to. I honestly believe him when he says they probably didnt cause it, but even if they had, their response to it has ensured that they will continue to have my business. I’m confident theyve earned every good review theyve gotten. Take your car there!

Had a full inspection for 200 and mentioned how the car needed a jump to start a couple days prior.. Get the car back with then telling me that they couldnt find a problem. Fast forward four or so days if driving paces and what not, car doesnt start and isnt with a jump this time. After talking to them about standing behind their work and fixing the problem, the owner Rene, tells us they cant fix it to go somewhere else and pays us 300$... Wow never in my life have I heard of this, dont bring your car here. Hillside had fallen far and they are not with your time, they cant even fix a dead battery.. 0_o 0/10. Go to their competitors double Jay motorwerks. --------------- In response to the below statements: Disrespecting your representatives?? I hardly even spoke to you guys. Also, your pricing scheme is off the charts. I am thoroughly satisfied with the shop that I should have gone to. it saddens me to my core that Hillside wouldnt solve my problem. Regardless, I am sorry you guys felt disrespected. The impression and explanation I received about sending me away was that you had more cars coming in than you had time to fix them and you didnt want to deal with a power draw that could take a lot of time testing and less time actually billing me. It was really pathetic, frankly. The issue could have been handled on a much deeper and professional manner. Implying you were disrespected in a reply to my review when you mentioned nothing of the sort to me when I was asking why you couldnt help me is not only backwards but shady as well. Do what you need to do to protect your image. You have fallen. And far. Minus another star for the sideways response "from the owner."

Just had major service performed on my 2003 RS6. Had the t-belt, control arms and valve cover gasket/cam end seals. While in there, Luke (Tech) observed some damage connector housings and heat deteriorated hoses which he took care of at no additional charges other than the part costs. I was able to stop by on the second day and he allowed me to a "walk about" under the car - looking at all areas (CV boots, Prop shaft seals, rear dif, etc. - fortunately ALL looked great. They in the past serviced my A 2.7t - also with a great experience. I shopped around and researched quite extensively on where I was going to take the much more rare RS6. I highly recommend these guys !

I had an excellent experience at Hillside. Rene was fantastic and very realistic with me about my new to me GTI and what it will need over its lifetime. They did an install of the diesel geek short shift kit (totally recommend that for anyone with a manual VW/ Audi - makes shifting a dream). Install was done same-day, adjusted appropriately and I could tell they really value their clients and take great care of vehicles. Pricing seems fair as well for the excellent level of service provided. Enthusiasts definitely work there, there are some cool cars around the shop.
