On Sunday Jan 27th 2013 after going to the auto show in Portland on Sat Jan 26th my spousal unit and I decided to travel from southwest Washington State to the Lexus of Portland store in Beaverton Or to actually touch, feel and drive a new ES300 Hybrid. We had looked at one during the Auto Show but not much was functional and of course you couldnt drive the car.My spousal unit being some what of a grinch when it comes to car dealerships and especially "car salesman", I braced for a potential attitude filled afternoon. Much to our surprise when we arrived at the Lexus of Portland dealership, we found the store very busy. We had a little time to view the cars on the showroom floor without being "jumped on" by the first salesman lurking behind the closest plant to the door. My spousal unit spied the ES300h Hybrid just outside the showroom window parked in front of the store. The vehicle was even the right color, but did not have the right interior color. We decided to approach a salesman and ask to see one of the cars, preparing ourselves for dealership battle. Much to our surprise and pleasure, we found Chris Shaw. Chris was the most relaxed and helpful car salesman we had ever met. Even though the store was very busy and my spousal unit made it clear that we were not buying that day but comparing three (3) cars we had seen at the auto show that peaked our interest, Chris was patient, helpful, and extremely easy to talk with. He answered all our questions, found us a vehicle matching all of our desires and options that was on order and would be arriving in a few days. He found the store demonstration vehicle, taking us for a test drive and letting both of us drive the vehicle.Chris even encouraged us to check out the other vehicles we were considering and make a good comparison. He was very aware that the vehicle we were interested in represented a substantial amount of money and deserved an informed decision. My spousal unit has had the privilege of being able to purchase vehicle in the past from dealership owners, general managers who are personal friends and for the past 30 years has never had to actually go to the "salesman" and get information, and God forbid the "little room" with the boxing gloves. Chris gave us a new and refreshing experience in purchasing and looking for a vehicle. When we decide which vehicle we are going to purchase we will be coming back to Chris if it is the Lexus. There is no other salesperson in the store that I will go to, only Chris. Because of Chriss approach and honesty we have already made a preliminary decision to purchase the Lexus ES300h. The other dealerships will have to really do the unexpected to get our business at this point. If Lexus of Portlands service and the rest of their team is as friendly and open as Chris, then they have made us a new and life long customer.Renee Raglione and spousal unit

For the longest time, Ive always been a firm believer that luxury vehicles were overrated and not worth the time and money to maintain. Ive always been partial to Toyota because my parents have always bought Corollas and Camrys. My Uncle in SoCal is a Lexus fanatic and I never believed his Lexus cars were that much better until I recently purchased a 2007 Lexus ES 350 after totaling my Corolla. I bought this car from a different dealership in Portland and man, Ive had nothing but problems with it and the dealer. Thankfully, I thought of taking it to both of the Lexus dealerships in Oregon. I got it all fixed up at Kuni Lexus of Portland and now it drives very well; it actually feels nicer to drive than my dads new 2016 Toyota Camry! What I will say is that both Lexus dealerships in Oregon are excellent, but what stood out to me about Kuni Lexus was their killer combo of prompt/efficient/courteous customer service, luxurious waiting lounge complete with fancy coffee machine/snacks/Kuni-Lexus water bottles/fancy chocolate, and a more comprehensive used car inspection. The service team at Kuni actually found an issue that the other dealership didnt find that ended up saving me lots of money in the long run. They were also never pushy to get everything repaired, which stood out to me because I expected to get taken advantage of due to my lack of car knowledge. They were very transparent and honest about what really needed to be done on my car and what were just minor things that could be put off. My service advisor, Brad Dorshorst, went above and beyond to make sure I had my peace of mind about my less-than-perfect Lexus I bought from a shady dealer. He even contacted them with me to call them out for their business practices. It was a very valuable lesson in always getting your car inspected before buying and to also read up on return policies and the fine print on service contracts. I also had a great sales inquiry experience with Lana Tran. She was very prompt and professional with my questions. I also loved driving the 2017 ES 350 loaner car while my car was in the shop. I didnt want to give it back! It was amazing! It was such a treat after a horrible experience at the shady dealer I bought my car from. To top it off, Kuni Lexus even offered to replace my license plates for free with their own dealership plates just so I feel like I bought the car from them. All in all, my experience here was akin to a 5 star hotel experience (yes Ive stayed at the Peninsula, New York Palace, Sutton Place, so I know what 5 star service is like.) If I do choose to buy a Lexus vehicle in the future in Oregon, its a no-brainer: Kuni Lexus of Portland is the way to go!

In November of 2013, I purchased a 2005 Saab 9-2x Aero from sales rep, Daniel Okhotin. Thinking that I was buying this vehicle from a Lexus dealer, I expected an honest experience where I would be purchasing a car that required little repairs off the lot. Daniel ensured that my car was fully inspected by the Kuni Service center and "passed inspection with great results." Furthermore, Kuni insured the vehicle with their K Certified Limited Powertrain Warranty. With this, I purchased the vehicle. Almost immediately after I drove the car home to Colorado, it became apparent that my newly purchased car had a significant gas leak between the hard and soft fuel lines. The leak was so bad that I could not drive the car due to the over-nauseating amount of fumes entering the cabin. I notified Daniel immediately and he offered no resolution because leaking fuel lines are not covered on the limited powertrain warranty. The cost of this repair? $550. I recently took my car to a specialist here in Colorado because my radiator had cracked and my water pump malfunctioned. To my dismay, when the mechanics opened up my engine, they found that my timing belt was 10 years old. The factory owners manual REQUIRES that the timing belt is replaced without question at the 8-year mark. Daniel and Kuni Lexus sold me the vehicle at 9 years since production date. I reached out to Daniel recently and he completely dismissed my request to have Kuni pay for the replacement of the timing belt stating that my if my vehicles timing ripped it wouldnt harm the engine, therefore, it was not a necessary repair prior to sale. The fact of the matter is that if my timing belt did rip, not only would it damage the engine, but it would also not be covered by the K Certified Warranty because I did not "perform the mandatory required maintenance on the vehicle." The cost of this repair?? $1,200!! How am I as the buyer, who has been guaranteed by the seller, supposed to know that the 9-year old timing belt was neglected in the "Safety Inspection" when it was a factory-issued mandatory maintenance repair at 8 years of age? So now, I am sitting with a car that I have been forced to put around $2500 (new water pump, new radiator, new timing belt, new fuel lines) of repairs into that came directly out of my pocket. So much for a honest dealership with great warranty, huh? I have all title information, shop claims and invoices to back up this entire horrible experience.
