kay, so Im going to write a long, detailed account of my interaction with Comfort Auto but the bottom line is: just dont take your car here. Choose another mechanic - there are loads of them in the Portland Metro area. Comfort Auto has despicable customer service and seriously questionable practices. Here I go... we were heading off on a 3-month long road trip and took our Bronco to Comfort Auto for preventative maintenance (wed taken our car there several times over the previous year). It had a slight rough idle but otherwise drove great. Comfort Auto had it for two days and when we picked it up and attempted to drive it home it couldnt get above 30 MPH on the freeway. We brought it back the next morning and sat and waited at a coffee shop nearby to hopefully get them working on it early (they are notoriously slooooow) and they had it done around noon. So we started on our road trip and from the beginning there were numerous new problems... the Bronco was backfiring and didnt have any power under load (going uphill). Somehow we made it to Idaho and took it to a GREAT mechanic that had it done the same day. They told us that Comfort Auto had poked holes in the spark plug wire through their diagnostics and the timing was off by 14 degrees. So our "preventative maintenance" ended up costing us $500 for Comfort Auto to create issues and another $500 to fix them. I sent numerous emails to Comfort Auto explaining our situation and requesting a refund. No response. So I started calling. When I finally reached Dan he played dumb about not getting my emails (later I found out he did read them and simply lied to me). His response was to say they didnt poke holes in the wires because "no respectable mechanic would do that" (Right. Which is why I will never give you my business again) and said that he would go to court before refunding my money. We spent probably 30 minutes on the phone with him yelling at me and interrupting me (I seriously have never had such a negative customer service interaction in my life). Then his dad got on the phone because Dan was "so upset". Dad (I forgot his name) talked to my husband and said he would call our Boise mechanic to talk to them directly and that he would call us back the next day. Surprise surprise weve never heard from them again. The thing is, everyone makes mistakes and I get that. If they wouldve just been kind about it and listened and refunded at least a portion of my money I wouldve been happy. But they were rude and lied and ignored my calls and wouldnt refund a penny. So seriously Yelpers, dont waste your time or your money on Comfort Auto.

I recommend that you steer clear of this business for auto body repairs. I have pictures for any and all that would like to see by admission a “5 out of 10" paint job that this shop does on most cars unless otherwise requested. My vehicle was backed into while parked on a Portland street. A lady was nice enough to come find me and offer to repair my vehicle. I took my vehicle to Comfort Auto & Body Repair. The driver side door was caved in and the mirror had been scuffed by the trunk of the ladies car. Comfort was kind enough to deal with the insurance company who was being quite difficult. The problems truly started when I went to pick up my vehicle. The owner was washing a vehicle and said it was ready to go. I took his word. Got in my car and drove away. When I got back to work, I noticed some masking tape in the key hole of the door. I tried to pull it out and it pealed some tape away from the door handle assembly. It caused me to look a little more at the door. The mirror had not been touched and was in the same condition as when I dropped the car off. I then saw a rather large drip line along the door jam. Looking further, I saw that the paint was hanging at the bottom of the door in an area about 2.5”x2.5”. I also found that the door jamb was scratched. It was not previously scratched. I called the shop. Daniel told me that I should have looked at the car before I left, “… this is why we ask customers to look over the cars.” I am not a painting Quality Control Manager. I do not work for Comfort. If a professional tells me the work is complete it should be complete. And certainly not have the egregious defects and errors that were present on a simple paint job. I made an appointment to have the errors fixed. When I returned the mirror was untouched and still had the ladies white paint smeared into my mirror. The paint was no longer hanging on the door but there were several areas where dirt and dust had collected on the wet paint and it is an obvious defect. This is when I was told that they only do a 5 out of 10 paint job unless asked otherwise. They offered to cut and buff if I really wanted it, but explained that it was more time and a third try. So if you want a 5/10 paint job and want to give them multiple tries to paint your car this is your shop. Comfort was paid 100% of the money to do 85% of the work. I heard the owner say several times that he wasnt perfect and I would agree, especially when it comes to painting.

I took my 2009 Audi A3 in for a small fender repair and putting an aftermarket grille in. Turn around was pretty quick and the repair was satisfactory. But when I picked up the car it was unwashed, and the factory grille was off in the back and kinda busted up. I took off for work and noticed a haze on the windscreen. When I did the wiper fluid and the blades moved it sounded like sandpaper and didnt come off. I got out, and ran my fingernail on the screen and it came up the color of my car. It was overspray. Over the whole window and even the hood. They did not mask properly, if at all. So the next day I went back to get it taken care of. They took a buffer to the window, and it picked up all the paint particles and turned the buffer into a fine fine sandpaper. So when they moved the buffer to the hood it lightly sanded the whole thing. When confronted them about the horrible buffer marks they denied for the most part, but said they wouldnt forget about me and bring it in at my convenience and they use some rubbing compound to buff if out. I work nights six days a week and went out of town for two weeks so coming in for a third time when I have time is difficult. When I called in to make an appointment for the fix they were very nice at first. Then they realized it was me, told me theyd call me back and never did. Worst 525 Ive ever spent. Worst service Ive ever had. And these reviews are the reason I went. Do not spend your money here. I dont know how much Ill have to spend to get the marks out. If theyll buff out or Ill need a respray. Ill let you use your imagination for the other words Id like to use to describe my feelings towards this shop. I also knew they were intent on screwing me so I filmed the interaction when I confronted them about the buffer picking up the paint and sanding the hood. Ill probably post it to YouTube soon so you can see exactly how theyll treat you.
