Had an old EA82 1988 Leone wagon engine rebuilt here, when they were still on 82nd ave in the old bldg. Had the car back 7 times during the 6 month warranty period, never really ran right. Smoked like an atomic cloud on start up for the first month, I did a compression test and got really low numbers, and was then told if I did it again (pulling spark plugs?!), Id void my warranty. LOL. The older bald gentleman (owner?) told me hed do the rebuild himself, yet whenever I went in to check on progress, he had to ask a "Tim" what status was. So he lied. In the end, after spending ~$5,500, the car last 2 years and 16, 000 miles before the motor seized and it was a paperweight (despite frequent oil/filter changes - or wait, did I void the warranty by doing that too?!). If "Tim" is still there, guy with short hair and spectacles, and you find out hes working on your car, have it towed away immediately. In the end, I would have got better work done by the local Portland Community College automotive class, and for much less (FREE). Sad, but in my experience, this place was a disaster, exhibiting the typical "Portland" level of service that everyone seems to love. Guess it keeps em in business. Any other town - theyd be long gone. Cheers.

I am terribly disappointed in the unprofessionalism of Superior Import Repair. I went in for a DEQ fix, going out of my way to drive all the way out to 78th and Sandy because I heard they were the best for Subaru fixes. I came to pick up my car the next day to find that multiple items had been stolen from my car. I noticed before even leaving the lot, and told the employees. I was told "our mechanics would never do something like that" and "we never leave our cars unlocked". Things were taken from all different areas of the car, not just a cleared out glove box or something, implying that the thief had time to go through and hand pick the items taken. Among those items were my personal diary, my knife, makeup, aux cord, phone cases, Sauvie Island Parking pass, a portable speaker, a flashlight, and a lighter. Now since none of this but the knife was worth anything, theres not much I can do. I would strongly recommend against taking your business here, as they either stole my stuff or left the car unlocked and allowed someone else to steal my stuff. Very strange situation, because the items were not worth much money. Why take a diary? Will NEVER return.

Best mechanics ever ! They specialize in Subaru, tho they handle other manufacturers as well. They charge fair - not cheap prices - and dont nickel and dime you for every nut and bolt. Everything theyve fixed stays fixed, and theyre excellent diagnosticians - when they fix something, its the thing that needed to be fixed. They won our business the first time we checked them out. Our windshield wipers were working slowly. The elder Ritch popped the hood, adjusted a hose, and waved off our offer to pay. They won our hearts when they warrantied their work. Theyd correctly diagnosed a charging problem as being a leaky radiator causing alternator belt to slip. A week later when car died due to lack of electricity, they realized theyd failed to replace the belt - and replaced it on warranty, and thanked me for letting them do it. We have only bought Subarus since, because we dont think we can find better mechanics.

The transmission went out in my 2009 Subaru Forester and I had 2 auto shops diagnose the problem—both said I needed a new transmission and quoted me $3,000 on a used transmission with 150k miles, or around $4,000 to rebuild me a new one. My roommate recommended Fix My Suby on Sandy and on a whim, I decided to get one more quote. Dirk was extremely helpful and kind, told me he could get a used transmission with under 100k miles on it for around $2,000 (theyve got major connections here!), and he even spoke to my dad about the problems—twice! He also said he suspected it might just need a part repair, not the whole transmission. No other shop even mentioned this possibility. Turns out he was right! My repair was only $1,200 and they had my car ready to go a day earlier than theyd told me. I wont be going anywhere else now! Thank you Superior Import Repair! :)

Fraud Alert: Had the car in there late last year to get the rear wheel bearings replaced because they were getting pretty noisy. They diagnosed it- yep the rear driver wheel bearing and replaced it (or so I thought) and the noise went away. About 9 months later the noise started coming back so I took it into my local trusted mechanic and turns out I need that rear driver wheel bearing replaced. Local mechanic says there was absolutely no sign that the bearings had been replaced last year because the parts were all too old and the bolts were rusted shut like everything else on the bottom of the car and they didnt have a single wrench mark on any of them. Bottom line: they charge me to "replace" my bearings when in all likelihood they just injected grease in there to quite it up.

Each time I call or come in, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Several times Ive stopped in for small adjustments and assistance, and they dont even charge me for it! My check engine light was coming on repeatedly, throwing codes concerning the catalytic converter and O2 sensors. Rather than suggesting I replace it immediately (an expensive $1500+ job that Id already done with a previous car at a different garage), they gave me a bottle of fuel cleaner (at no charge) and suggested I buy better quality gas, and its seemed to have solved the problem! So appreciative that they didnt try to swindle a young woman who admittedly knows very little about cars. Their honesty and integrity has earned a loyal customer! Thanks guys!

Never really had a problem with this place before, and I realize my car is old, but come on. Visit #1: Me: I have a gas leak in my 85 Corolla Them: It looks like its been sitting for a long time and the seals are rotted out. Well replace the seals and some such that will be $300 Visit #2: Me: I have a gas leak in my 85 Corolla. Them: Oh it has a nasty tear in the top well do a patch job on the tank. That will be $200 Visit #3 Me: I have a gas leak in my 85 Corolla. Them: Oh the inside of the tank is rusted from sitting too long at one point. The tank will need to be replaced that will be nearly $400 and you have to order the tank yourself. Me: I look some place else. Thanks.

Since I do as much of my own maintenance and repair as possible, this is exactly the kind of auto shop I love. I get to actually talk to the mechanics who do the work. Three times they have solved my problem by giving me free advice and pointing me toward the right DIY solution. I do the right thing anyway and leave them a nice tip for their time. So should you! Tranny flushes, new fuel pump, troubleshooting and repairing my 4wd for free! Every time they get the job done when they say they will and at the original price. These guys are extremely knowledgeable pros who have treated me better than any shop I have ever visited before.
