Extremely disappointing. Having recently moved to the area, I had hoped to find a nearby quality mechanic that I could trust to be knowledgeable, straight forward, and thorough. After dealing with Honest 1 Auto Care Milwaukie for 3 months and spending nearly $1000, I feel deceived and cheated. My conclusion is that due to their great location, this particular Honest 1 is able to rely on one time customers rather than repeat business. As a result, attention to detail is lacking and I got fast food quality auto care at a gourmet price. Personal example 1: During a tune up I had my throttle body body cleaned, then the next day the car began idling high and the check engine light came on. As it turned out, Honest 1 had neglected to calibrate the throttle body in their haste to turn out as many cars as possible. This oversight ultimately cost Honest 1 and me additional time and hassle, and makes me question their thoroughness/professionalism/expertise. Personal example 2: During the same tune up, a nail was found in one of my tires. Honest 1 suggested I replace all my tires since the tread only had about 4 months left, and the hole was in a place which prevented repair. I expressed concern regarding Honest 1s tire maintenance and warranty policy and specifically asked how it compared to Les Schwab (where Ive previously had great experiences). I was reassured that their policy included all services provided by Les Schwab (rotation/balancing/etc), and covered the same repair/replacement conditions. Since their price was comparable, I chose to purchase 4 new 50k mile tires from Honest 1. After 3k miles, my wife hit a rock in the road which punctured the side wall of one tire. Upon taking the tire into Honest 1, I was told they would not replace the tire, but I could purchase a new one. I reminded them of our conversation at the time of purchase regarding free replacement. Honest 1 informed me that no company would replace a tire with this type of damage. So, I took the tire to Les Schwab and asked them. At Les Schwab I was told they would definitely replace it. This example is to illustrate Honest 1s unintentional ignorance or deliberate deceit (tell them anything to make a sale mentality). Both of these examples have turned a potential long term customer willing to pay for quality services, into a disgruntled patron who will actively discourage his friends and family from trusting their vehicles to such a dishonest, neglectful, and incompetent company.

I made a call to Honest1 to confirm the shop had time to run a diagnostic on my no start vehicle issue. If so I would have my car towed into their shop.. i car was towed to their shop. I called back about an hour later to confirm my vehicle had arrived, Another Honest1 staff member answered my 2ND call. This guy was so rude I was speachless.. he insulted me., flat out said to me that I was lyiny to him. He, said I had not arranged to have my car towed into his shop. I had just had the tow truck drop my car at his shop. He was sarcastically asking for my demographic info. Finally he paused for a second, All I could politly say was the name of the employee I spoke with the first time I called Honest 1 haha! . Instead of apologizing he made a grunting noise, I could hear him pull away from the phone. Followed by shuffling papers. Then he actually finished our comvo by cursing about his coworker. I asked if he had all the info he needed from me.He had my car. Im not stupid.. nut that phone call was over. GETS BETTER. MY NO START WAS DIAGNOSED AS A VALVE JOB. COOLANT LEAKING. BLAH BLAH. SHOP LEFT LOWER RADIATOR HOSE CLAMP LOOSE. I HAD TO BUY MORE RADIATOR FLUID. MY RADIATOR WAW EMPTY. THIS WAS A VERY PRICEY ESTIMATE. SOMETHING LIKE $4,000.00 ALTHOUGH EMBARRASSING TO ADMIT, THIS IS PRICELESS.. THE CAR WAS NOT STARTING BC IT WAS OUT OF GASOLINE. YEP gage was on empty. I DISCOVERED THE GAS ISSUE WHEN IWENT TO PICK UP MY VEHICLE. THEY EARNED OVER $100.00 FOR THIS. PLUS MY TOW FEES YOU BETTER BELIEVE I RETURNED TO HONEST1. TO SHARE THE GOOD NEWS. THE EMPLOYEE WAS SURPRISED TO SEE MY CAR OUTSIDE ENGINE RUNNJNG. RIGHT INFRONT OF THE SHOP. I POLITELY INFORMED THEM OF THE LITTLE GASOLINE ISSUE . AND MR RUDE MUST be really good w a wrench BC he had been transferred to another shop.. that morning. I Wonder why? ANOTHER DAY IN PARADISE.

Earlier this year on January 14th I took my car into Honest-1 for work that needed to be done. The job was due to take just a couple of hours so I agreed to borrow their old and run down green Crown Victoria loaner vehicle while the work was completed. The ice on their street, McLoughlin Blvd had been cleared or melted away since the heavy snow on the 10th and 11th that wed had, but the temperature was still below freezing that day. When I took their old and run down loaner vehicle out about 1 mile down the road the brakes completely stopped working! With my 10 year old, extremely intelligent daughter as my witness, sitting right there in the front seat with me! We where on our way to the library, approaching the McLoughlin Blvd and Bluebird St crossing light, when I tried for about 100 yards all the while driving under the speed limit, to brake in their loaner vehicle without any luck at all! Without any brakes properly working I crashed right into the back bumper of the poor ladies driving in front of us. We immediately pulled over and I called Honest-1 to come pick up their bogus loaner vehicle. They took their sweet time while the vehicle had 20 minutes to warm up. By the time they arrived, the brakes worked fine! Since they didnt bother to warm up the car before loaning it out in below freezing temperatures that day, the brakes where affected and that old loaner car hit somebody stopped at a red light! I had to go through my insurance company, since they swore it was 100% my fault. The party who was hit is now sustaining physical injuries and damages to their bumper! Its a shame, Honest-1 had to be so dishonest since me and my family have used them for years and put thousands of dollars into repairs on our vehicles with them! Theres no customer loyalty there.

I needed to find the number to reschedule an oil change. I noticed the rating. I am very surprised! I have been coming here for a few years. Id go no where else. The staff (Brian and owner Scott) have always been courteous, informative, nonjudgmental and understanding. There 21 point check caught a few things I didnt know (light out etc). Ticket and accident saved. Only mechanics to change my oil. Scott researched and researched tires for me. Sure, I gasp at prices.Car maintenance is expensive! Honest1 is not a garage mechanic. It is a shop offering WiFi, lounge area, kids space, refreshments and CLEAN bathrooms.... Oh, it has bays, which comes with greater overhead as it means the above mentioned comfortable waiting space, equipment, inventory and staff! I came in for an oil change. I had a NAPA bag on my seat for my husband to replace a few things. The mechanic took a peek. He quickly used those products and replaced! It was also noted I was sold the wrong spark plugs. They quoted me a price and explained my Ford Freestyle is truly a nightmare and dread to replace. I still need to budget and replace. No hounding to do it and they wont when I return.chances are it will be listed on my very detailed printout. Oh and last, I took my car in thinking I needed brakes replaced: always squeeked. Scott told me in good consciousness he could not replace as one set was fine and other at 50%. Give them a try. I find in general more negativity is shared as review than positive experiences. This is unfortunate as it is not the whole.
