We’ve been renting a storage unit for about 5 ½ years. We knew the initial $1 fee was a gimmick and were only somewhat surprised that the initial charges included having to buy one of their locks (I assume they must have a master key). A couple years later, they changed all the locks but that is the only maintenance they have done. It’s convenient to be able to pay the monthly rent online (although a lot of our other storage companies have started doing the same). The one thing they didn’t tell us, however, was that they increase the rent every year on July 1 by 10-15% even though the only maintenance they have done is to change the lock. Inflation certainly hasn’t been anywhere near that much nor have our property values been increasing much if at all. I’m pretty sure the local staff (who have been very friendly and helpful) haven’t been getting huge raises so the only explanations would appear to be corporate greed or, possibly, someone in midlevel management is skimming. We have been looking for alternatives but haven’t acted yet because of the cost and hassle of moving everything again but are pretty close to doing it after we just received this year’s notice of increase. The unit we have has been weatherproof, even though unheated, and we haven’t had a problem with rodents (we don’t have anything stored that would tempt them) but I feel that the value to us has failed to keep pace with the rent increases so I can only recommend Public Storage if there are no reasonable alternatives.

Online price was accurate, with additional B.S. "administrative fee" ($22 one-time fee) that is common nowadays. Upon arrival was informed that insurance is mandatory, and given a list of possible monthly cost choices. Cheapest being $8 per month. Upon further questioning when filling out the "insurance ELECTION addendum, was informed at this point that you can provide your own renters/homeowners insurance. Next $$ gimmick was the overpriced lock that I cordially refused. I informed the attendant that Id be providing (from my last storage unit) Id already informed the attendant of my post-office-hours arrival, the attendant informed me that Id need to be there by 6:00 pm or their lock would stay on it overnight. Moving is tough enough, especially when scrambling a one-day move. Employees should clue in to the legitimate situations some potential customers may be experiencing. Id have patronized this place, but the ever-so-typical runaround prevented me from doing so in good faith.

Not to be trusted. I wrote a negative review after a horrendous experience with them at the SE Salem location and it is deleted this AM! There is much more I will attempt to post again... My belongings were in a temperature controlled unit for 7 days and when my movers moved my mattress it was covered with earwigs! I had been sleeping on that mattress the week before. I am a middle aged business woman, who has owned and started business and I was treated so poorly I have vowed to never give them my business again. My rude, contentious experience was with Kayelahni & Kelsey. I always look at management when staff are sub par and when I talked with Mike Allergone at Corporate nothing was different and it supports my theory of bad management.

We were with this Public Storage facility off and on for 16 years. We found it convenient and clean. Our small unit was inside the temp controlled building and one of the doors was not secured. It had been broken for years and even when we brought it to the managements attention, it still did not get fixed. Until recently we have not had confidence in the management but since Kelsey has been there that has all changed. We had moved out of our small unit into an outdoor unit so assume the door got fixed under Kelseys attention. We have been very happy with the customer service her new team has provided us and it was this change in professionalism that lead us to search for a Public Storage location in Portland when we moved.

Much like Brians experience, we were quoted a monthly price and then when signing the paperwork, were told about the $22 fee, and minimun $8 per month insurance. When we were told that we had to purchase their lock and could not go get one after loading the unit, we walked. Typical "bait and switch" business plan which apparently plenty of people fall for. In minutes, we found a nearby facility that was less costly, had no other fees, and they gave us a lock for free - brand new and identical to the ones being sold for $16 at this place. Recommendation: STAY AWAY!

Ive utilized 2 units at this facility since December, and have been very happy with the facility security and cleanliness, and the helpfulness/support of the staff (Christy and Cynthia). No glitches, and weve been over to access our storage on short notice many times. Thanks Public Storage for helping make our move smoother. In June I moved my stuff out for the move...no glitches and Christy/Alyssa have been excellent. Take care, Thx for all the storage support!

I made a move from out of state and needed a storage facility for short term use while I waited for my escrow to close. Christy was extremely helpful in assisting with the storage set up; so everything was ready when the moving truck arrived. The facility is always clean and well attended. Christy was a pleasure to deal with every step of the way. I am very grateful for the excellent service I received. I would highly recommend this facility.

Kelsey, the property manager, is one of the most helpful people I have met. She was very knowledgeable, and made me feel secure about renting a unit at this location. She had a great attitude and made the whole process stressfree, as I have never rented a unit before. The property is always well kept which also gives a good sense of security. I am 100% satisfied with my overall expierence!!

Recently moved my belongings from a previous storage location (which I was not pleased with) to Public Storage on Liberty street. The location area is very appealing, the condition on the property is up to date and well kept. The one site property manager Kelsey was a very helpful lady and enjoyable to converse with! Feel very comfortable having my belongings in temporary storage there!

Kelsey was great in helping me with renting a parking space for my boat. Originally I had reserved a uncovered parking space, upon arrival Kelsey showed me a covered space that she thought would work for the size of my boat. I would highly recommend Public Storage for your storage needs and make sure to ask for Kelsey, she was great to work with and very friendly on both my visits.
