Fraud comes in many forms and Midas Muffler of Bridgeville is no stranger to several of them. In my experience, they overcharged on parts (by 100% in the case of the spark plugs in their recommended "spark plug tune") and labor (by at least 500% in the same instance and likely more in their also recommended "fuel system tune"). I am also reasonably certain that they are salting the Google reviews with five star ratings. My husband spoke with Chris about why the costs were estimated to be so high (my husband is able to change the spark plugs, which takes about 10 minutes in our car, and clean the mass airflow sensor himself), at which point Chris became extremely defensive, claiming something along the lines of "Im the cheapest guy around, ask anyone", which was of course a bad sign. Despite this, we decided to make a "donation" to them in the hopes of getting the whole business over with. However, one cannot simply wish away problems, and we were forced to confront this the next day during the emissions test/inspection (the actual inspection never happened at Midas, because there wasnt sufficient data logged to pass the emissions test, which they could have told me almost instantly, since one needs only to plug in some sort of module that reads the OBD smog check report. FYI, after we took the car back we made an investment in a BlueDriver module that allows you to read the output of the various OBD system reports on your smartphone or tablet, which is extremely helpful and a far more worthwhile use of $99 than any of the "tune-ups" Midas offers.) After waiting for about an hour (my 19 month old son was too restless to sit in the waiting room the whole time, so we walked around Bridgeville waiting for Chris to call, which he never did), we returned to find the car sitting outside, so I went in and spoke to both Chris and the mechanic that had looked at the car, who happened to be in the room. The mechanic was very helpful and told me everything he saw that should be changed before the inspection (Ford looked at those same issues and didnt see problems passing any of it for inspection). When I asked for a list because my husband would change it himself, Chris told me he would give me a list of everything that needed to be done, but once the mechanic left and went back into the shop, Chris did not give me the list. When I asked him for the list, assuming he had overlooked it, he merely handed me a pen. When I asked him to clarify the details of one of the "necessary" repairs, he told me he didnt know and apparently had no intention of going to ask the mechanic (he did tell me that "youll have to take *everything* apart, so it will be obvious if youre going to do it"). That was when I *finally* allowed myself to accept that we were dealing with a dishonest business. I think that the mechanics are most likely reasonable and decent people, but I suspect that Midas business model depends on appearing "affordable", while padding the bill with a lot of unnecessary and/or overpriced repairs that they insist on doing themselves (and they clearly are not shy about resorting to bullying/fear tactics when they feel it would help them to achieve these ends). If youre looking for an ethical shop, I would highly recommend that you look elsewhere!

I was very pleased with the service I recently received at the Midas in Bridgeville. I explained that I really wanted to learn about things needed in my car, in an event to not be taken advantage of. The manager (Chris I believe?) was extremely nice and patient with me. After my oil change was completed, they recommended new wiper blades, at a very fair price! When I was checking out, the manager explained the typical maintenance that is recommended in my vehicles make and model at the current mileage. This was very helpful and appreciated... I am now able to plan ahead for this expense. He also priced out timing belts, other necessary parts, and truly is trying to give the best price, for high-quality work. I will definitely be returning to have my car work completed! Thank you!

So happy to have discovered Chris and his team at Bridgeville Midas. I was treated with respect, all of my questions were patiently answered and every detail was explained to me. I was told exactly what was immediately necessary, and what I could plan to repair or replace in the future. I had my inspections done and brake pads replaced. I was shown how mine had worn in comparison to new pads. I never had the feeling that I was being pressured to make unnecessary expenditures. My limited budget was taken into account. I believe this Midas shop staff to be knowledgeable, technically proficient and trustworthy. I know that Chris took over management of this location in early 2015, so you should take that into account when reading older reviews.

A few weeks after purchasing a used car, it started having so many problems... We were unsure where to take it, we wanted someone we could trust. I asked my brother where he takes all his cars and he said I had to take it to midas, he said Chris Balentine is the best, you can trust what he says. He takes all of his cars there before he buys them on Craigslist, if Chris doesnt approve, he doesnt buy them. We couldnt be happier with the service we had at midas, Chris Balentine is the best. We will only be going to midas from now on with all of our car needs and we will be recommending all of our friends and family to go to midas to see Chris. Thank again!

I was new to the area and being an "older" single woman (50s) was very concerned about who to trust to work on my vehicle. I have a Ford bought at the local dealership. After not being satisfied with the service I received there sought out another garage. I was lucky to have tried Midas - short wait time for appt., a lot of the time they work me in same day. All staff from front counter to mechanics are very knowledgeable, personable and straight forward with issues, recommendations and pricing. Many times their recommendations have saved me money. I know from the experiences with them I can trust them. Great management- HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Pulled in without an appointment to get my brakes changed and was in and out within a couple hours. They showed me the front brake pads and rotors that needed replaced and let me know that my rear drums were starting to get close, but didnt push an unnecessary repair. They mentioned that my tires were worn and alignment was off. I have an appointment somewhere else already for those, but they did some research and gave me a competitive price and information so I can research which tire would be best for me. Very professional and helpful without being pushy. Thanks!

Dont trust them. Just like the other reports, they added plenty of extra service on me. Theyre very friendly though if you dont mind throwing money away; but Im not there for friends. My rotors were very slighly warped, and they said they were too thin to turn them down and needed to be replaced. Ive never heard of a rotor that never ran out of pad get out of spec. They also stamped my oil change with a 2500 mile service life... for a truck with a recommened 7500 mile service intreval. Ive never seen anyone put under 3,000 miles.
