Brought the car in for diagnosis after an overheat on the highway (loss of coolant due to a hose blowing out). They said the engine was "seized" (total BS... I later took the engine apart and while I had melted the pistons slightly, the rotating assembly did move and the engine could still turn over). Said I needed a new engine. Two months later they told me they found one to buy, then three months later told me they hadnt actually bought it (without calling me to tell me this). Returned maybe 3 calls in all of 6 months - I was calling them every week for a while there. SO, being a Volvo fanatic, I asked a couple of friends, found a rebuilt 94 B230FT, bought it and brought it to them for the swap. A month later they hadnt even started on the swap. A month after that, I went in and took my car, my engine, and a bunch of parts that I had bought back from them. These guys cant pick up the phone without being hounded, their technician told me I was wrong repeatedly, and nobody was really willing to help. Not to mention the staff has a variety of rather racist stickers around the shop ("Welcome to America, Now speak english!") Fortunately after more than six months they only made me pay for the diagnoses they did in the beginning. Credentials: I took the car and engine and parts home and did the swap myself in my driveway in two weekends, having never done one before on my own. Saved an estimated $1800 and didnt have to deal with them again. STAY AWAY, this shop isnt owned by the lovely Tomasso family any more and leaving the Tomasso sign up is a disgrace to what used to be a wonderful Swedish mechanic.
