I would give them 10+ stars if I could. This is one of the best service oriented businesses Ive dealt with in the Charleston area without a doubt...! And in my line of work, I deal with 100s. Additionally, they are in an industry where the pros go to work and we have to HOPE they will not take advantage... SpeeDee Oil on James Island not only earned my trust but went far beyond my expectations. During my "SpeeDee" time there (ha), I also observed their interaction with several other customers. They treated everyone with respect and the kind of concern you would want for young son/daughter, grandmother, etc... They told an elderly lady that if shed like, to come by every once in a while and they will keep her tire pressure good and top off her fluids at no cost. I did not go for an oil change- I needed to top off my transmission fluid b/c of a leak. They found the leak and not only took the time to tell me exactly what was going on and show me where it was, but also explained my options....and that if I wanted (in order to to reduce my costs) I could order the part online (instead of the local market costs). Then, bring it in and they will install. The Staff is exceptional! As a single woman who knows very little about cars they went above and beyond to help me. Side note: I had the opportunity to meet the owner who was very involved in talking to his customers, checking the work, and cordially dealing with his staff. As I was leaving and thanking him he said "as a father of a young adult daughter living in another state and son of an aging mother, I just want to pay it forward. I would expect the same." AWESOME JOB and THANK YOU!!!!!

NOTE THIS IS RECENT - Other reviews are out dated! My head lamp went out... simple, right? I called around, the best price was $97 plus what ever the cost the cost the actual light bulb, once they ordered the bulb. Out of the blue, I called this particular shop. The person answering the phone did something all the others did not do - he asked What make is the car? THEN he gave me an estimate. His estimate? $65.00 including the bulb, which they would have on hand by the time I drove there that day! So off I went to SpeeDee on Folly Road. I was received as if I had been their favorite customer. There were others seated in the lobby, all chit-chatting together as if they had been customers for years themselves. I was in and out in well under an hour; the gentleman at the desk rung me up . my bill- parts & labor = $37.00 ! I thought surely he meant $73.00... nope - "An honest price for honest work." I like these people! No intimidation, no sense of being taken for my money since I am a woman. This SpeeDee is now my ONLY trusted car shop! Thank, Gentlemen!

I took two vehicles here for oil changes and the manager tried to push "the Manager Special" on me (an extra $60 each for an airfilter replacement and fuel injector service). I declined the extra services and came back later to pick up my vehicles. One week after the oil changes, the check engine lights in BOTH vehicles came on. I took one of the vehicles back and asked him to tell me what was wrong and he wanted to charge me an additional $40 to "diagnose" each vehicle, needless to say I am currently searching for an honest mechanic. This place reeks of the typical shady autoshop. I suspect them of doing something to my vehicles to make me come back for additional service. If you value honesty and customer service I would go anywhere else but here!

Speedee on James Island is my go-to shop whenever I need something taken care of. As a single 25-year old girl, it can be hard to find a shop you trust. All the guys here are really nice and I trust them to figure out exactly what my car needs and take care of it. Recently, I was in Atlanta and several lights came on in my car all at once. I wasnt sure who to call so I pulled over and called SpeeDee. The owner talked to me and told me what he thought it was, reassured me that it was safe to drive it to a shop, and looked up the closest shop to me - a Midas. He also called the Midas shop and told them I was a customer of his, which helped make sure they took great care of me. Highly recommend

Horrible! My wife was stranded on the road for an hour after the mechanic failed to replace two screws that held up a metal plate covering the oil filter. As soon as she hit about 35 mph the plate would scoop air, flop down and hit the road. I got to her, switched vehicles, tied up the plate and returned. No manager on site, waited at the desk for 10 min, when a tech came in I explained the problem. The technician simply said "oh". 5 min later the screws were replaced and I left. Really disappointed!! I know things go wrong, but when they do I would like to feel like someone gave a damn!

I went in on Saturday for a tuneup and oil change. The next day, my car started hesitating and misfiring when I accelerated. After a couple days, I took it back in and was told that it needed new spark plug wires and it would cost another $109. I decided to do it myself and took it home. When I looked under the hood, I found that one spark plug wire had been left visibly loose. I tightened it and my car runs fine. While I dont doubt that my old piece of junk needs new wires, I cant believe that these guys left the wire loose TWICE by accident. Never again.

I was at the shop early 8:03 am today for head lights checks and the other lights as well. There was 1 client waiting and I was the 2nd one. They set up me on the 3rd client behind the 3rd person came behind me right 5. Theyre all done really fast and stood me up to an hour just for some bulbs replace ( its only 15 to get them done ) and after I drove back home. There was some light problems too. They didnt check enough for those problems. I hope the manager will fix these problems and serve who come first, serve first

David and his staff went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of. Super fast and extremely helpful. Called asking if I could get my oil checked and was assured they would check it out and top it off free of charge. Ended up needing almost a whole tank, got fluids and tires checked - all for free! AMAZING. Cannot thank David enough. You can tell he really cares about his customers. I will never go anywhere else. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

As a delivery driver I depend on my vehicle to run my routes daily. That being said, I need an automotive shop that delivers sound advice, reliable service and outstanding customer service. SpeeDee Oil Change on Folly Rd. has always gone above and beyond to ensure that me and my vehicle are always taken care of. I undoubtedly recommend them to anyone, both experienced in car care or not, to bring their vehicle here.
