My fiance and I have rented from Ray for over 4 years and we recommended them to everyone, singing their praises until about a month ago. Sure, they were not good about fixing things - like, AT ALL, but my fiance is pretty handy and we just handled things on our own, attempting to have a nice quite relationship with our landlord. About 2 weeks ago, the woman living in the apartment next to us moved out, leaving a flea ridden and disgusting mess behind. When I left for work that morning the landlord was throwing trash and carpet out of the nasty apartment and I am sure he was pretty steamed up about the mess. That evening, I arrived home to see my fiances truck missing from his parking space. I should have called the cops and reported it stolen. Instead, I asked the neighbors if they saw what happened. It turns out the Ray Realty towed my fiances truck because they thought it belonged to the woman who had just moved out and left her mess behind. They were angry and didnt stop to think or ask to confirm the ownership of his truck - they just towed it. My fiance had to leave work and we rode out into the thick of Conway to pay $125 to get his truck back. We felt sure it was a misunderstanding and that Ray Realty would reimburse us for their mistake. No. No, they did not even apologize. They made up some bogus story about assigned parking - something that was never in our lease. Interestingly, our car make and model and license plates ARE kept on file with our lease. After that, we started to gather our things to leave. We were month to month as our lease had run through several months ago. On October 30th, I went to our apartment to finish cleaning and gathering my things. I still had my key. Our rent had been paid through October. The utilities were still in our names. And lo, they had already moved some poor woman into the apartment!!! I couldnt even get in to look around and get my things. Over $100 in groceries lost in a freezer I couldnt clean out. I have never seen such disgraceful and slumlord behavior, and I sadly never expected it from Ray Realty. Do Not Rent from these people. I realize this is hard because it seems they own half of Conway, but seriously save yourself the trouble. My fiance and I were planning to buy our first home from them this year. I am so glad we didnt.

Renting from Ray Realty was the worst renting experiences that I have ever had. I have lived in Easthampton, MA, Boston, MA, Burlington, VT, and Conway, SC in 7 total apartments/houses and have never had the kind of issues I had while renting from Ray Realty. We lived in our Conway home for two years and experienced all of the things the other reviewers experienced (non-response to our issues [including frozen pipes twice], shoddy repair people coming to complete work, and a dirty rental at the time of our moving in. All of these things were things we were willing to tolerate, however, that is until we moved out. We gave our months notice, requested a walk-though with us of the property (which went unanswered), left our house immaculate, and moved out. After calling myself to confirm with Bonnie Grice that everything was left pristine, she had a few complaints about the property (dirty stove pans and oven, an untrimmed bush and tree undergrowth???, and unswept porch), which I explained I had forgotten to clean inside the oven and sweep the porch, but the other things were left in the same / better condition then when we moved in. All she said was, "Well, ok.." and that was the end of the conversation. Until we received our security deposit refund check which they kept $125 from!! I was livid so I called and left her a message. Of course she didnt bother calling me back. I called again the next day 5 minutes after they opened the office and spoke with her. To sum up what proves to be a very long story... this property company is a fancy slum lord. They will not maintain your property, and they will steal your money when you move out. I am currently FIGHTING for our $125 back because these allegations are absolutely ridiculous and I have photographic proof that the condition we left it in was the condition we received it in. HOWEVER, DO NOT RENT from Ray Realty. They run a racket and a monopoly on all the properties in the greater Conway, SC area, but do what you can to find someone else to rent from. This was the worst experience I have had the misery to encounter.

Do not rent from this company. I assure you that when you sign the contract everyone is nice but things are not always what they appear. I was warned about them in advance by one lady but I spoke with another lady that said "those are just people that dont pay their rent on time that dont like it here." THAT WAS AN UNDERSTATEMENT. I paid on time but they stll wouldnt fix anything.My toilet stopped working and it took a few days for them to fix it. My faucet was broken they patched it. The ceiling was leaking they did shoddy work when they got to it by the looks of it when I left it will be leaking again soon. I came to the conclusion that the people dont pay on time because they dont fix on time. I found out lots of other things while going to make monthly payments. I spoke with one tenant that said when they opened the dishwasher the door fell on the floor. It wasnt even on. YIKES!!! Another tenant had a sewage problem. The only reason I stayed was because I didnt want an eviction on my record. But take it from me lesson learned. They asked if I wanted to continue my lease I politely said NO. We found another home and our landlords have been GREAT SO FAR. My advice: always check reviews when renting from a company and if you can speak with tenants. I could have saved myself alot of trouble if I had just listened to the first lady. Also another clue I should have picked up on was the fact that alot of their homes kept reappearing with their signs in the yard beforehand. I kept saying maybe they were just bad tenants. But NO they are just terrible landlords. I should have known that something WAS NOT RIGHT. MAN OH MAN WAS I STUUUUPPPIDD!!!!!

Ashley Bercovici - Ms. Bercovici did rent from us. Upon vacating as she admits in her post she left the oven dirty and did not sweep the porches in addition to a number of other items. We did retain $125 of the deposit to take care of these items. She agreed to provide photos for my review which she has failed to do. She filed a complaint with the BBB who failed to find in her favor.. If Ms. Bercovici does not remove this review i will take legal action and require her to appear in court to prove these baseless allegations.Charley Ray

My daughter and I were looking for a rental in the mainland area and were unable to find any after almost two days. I happened to tell someone about this difficulty, and he said that he and his family ran into the same issue, but Ray Realty was recommended to him and they had helped. Ray Realty wase able to get us into a nice house within a day. Very pleased with their service.
