In returning to Durham recently after several decades away, we were fortunate to engage the services of Connie Semans as our agent to help us find and buy a new home. Connie struck the perfect balance between listener and advisor, graciously leading us to the most informed decisions while leaving us feeling those decisions were ours. Her wise guidance, genteel manner and professional expertise helped us navigate a very difficult market for buyers and ultimately land our dream house. Without her, we might still be looking. After several months of fruitless, mostly long-distance searching, the perfect listing popped up on a Saturday morning. Sunday, we made the four-hour drive and met Connie there (now here) for a noon showing. By two, we were on our way back, consulting about our offering strategy by phone along the way (there were already other interested buyers). By the time we got back that evening (after a lengthy wrong turn) we were signing papers electronically, and on Tuesday morning she called to let us know we were “officially on the hook.” But the process didn’t end there. At this point, Connie transformed from gently guiding us to acting assertively on our behalf: overseeing the flow of paperwork, arranging the inspection, identifying and negotiating due diligence issues to be resolved and meeting with and managing follow up services. In short, she took what could have been a stressful process and turned it into a smooth, satisfying experience. We would never want to work with another agent. In 2014, we decided to move from Texas to North Carolina. Having had terrible experiences with agents in Fort Worth (and being a particularly critical person), I was dreading finding an agent, picking a neighborhood, and accessing good local resources. Early on, a Durham boutique owner recommended Chloe Seymore. Chloes ability to figure us out over the phone and via online listings was fantastic. It was a couple months before we met in person and our confidence in her was confirmed with great property visits in a variety of neighborhoods that gave us an excellent lay of the land. In my unofficial polling of the Durham/Chapel Hill area, I’ve found that 1 in 5 people are from New York or D.C., 1 in 5 list Guglhupf as their favorite restaurant, and 1 in 5 know Chloe Seymore. She has a cadre of premier bankers, lawyers, architects, contractors, painters, repair guys, etc. on speed dial. Those connections, plus her understanding of the area itself, have made this place feel like home much faster than we imagined.

To be perfectly frank, I dont think my wife and I would be homeowners right now if it wasnt for Chloe. She worked tirelessly to find us a first home that would both fit our needs, but also give us something to grow into. Beyond this though, she helped us navigate the entire home buying process, from answering innumerable questions, to providing invaluable advice and helping us find the right mortgage broker. She alleviated so many anxieties and made a stressful process feel manageable and exciting. Chloe is incredibly knowledgable, dedicated, professional and savvy. She is an incredible broker, an equally talented designer and, above all else, a wonderful and kind person. We cannot thank her enough for all of her help and expertise. We are forever grateful.
