I work the usual 9-5 schedule, so I have to plan ahead for almost everything: vacations, appointments, even household and automotive maintenance. So when I plan for some fun this summer-- Im thinking camping, whitewater rafting, heck why not waverunners! So I did my homework and found I could save %40 off this week to get a Class I hitch installed (2000 lbs tow weight limit). At $175 BEFORE the $50 mail-in rebate applies, I have to tell everyone about this deal. Uhaul is currently charging $250 for a different model Class I hitch, but everything else is the same. On my appointment receipt, it said, "estimated time of service was 45 minutes." I had couple games on my phone to keep me busy, and as I expected, it took longer. They were behind, and I work industrial too, so I know the hassles: New employees, training, change in procedures, etc. They also have a TV in the waiting room. (I fixed the screen for them) Since I live in the Clinton area, there is no Pep Boys near me, so browsing the store I notice a wider selection, but even the name brands are cheaper elsewhere, of everything. Online especially. In the waiting area, I overhear that another customer just got a $1200.00 estimate for a condenser (major A/C repair) replacement. Ouch. I had mine replaced for $300 in a Sunfire I used to own ten years ago. Damn inflation. The staff were surprisingly patient and friendly through the line of customers going out the door. The store was very well organized, but probably doesnt help the smell when its next to a repair shop, lol. Ill only come here again for a sale or special like I just had.

I bought tires here about a year ago and the service was so outstanding I kept coming back for my routine oil changes and tire rotations. Recently I had been hearing this clicking noise from the front of my car and it had progressively been getting worse over the last few days. So when I went in for my oil change I mentioned it to the service guy (Lee) and asked he have the guys take a look and see what it was. Thank goodness I went in when I did because my left drive axle was about to fly apart. They showed me the axle while my car was on the rack and it looked like it was just barely hanging on. The rubber boot was all ripped up and the mechanic put his hand around the axle and moved it back and forth and I heard that awful clicking noise that had been concerning me for so many days. They replaced my axle, changed the oil and rotated the tires in no time. It only took about an hour. I did some shopping while I was waiting and picked up a nice set of all-weather floor mats for wifes car at a very reasonable price. I like going to Pep Boys for my auto service because they are always friendly and their prices are reasonable. You might pay a little more here, but at least the job will get done right the first time and the little extra you have to pay is well worth the peace of mind. I will keep using Pep Boys as long as Lee is there. Hes always so thorough with the explanation of what my car needs and why it needs it and I trust him. Thanks Lee! Keep up the good work!

NEVER GO THERE!!! i dont even want to give a a star its -100! seriously worst place ever! they dont know anything about cars. i had to change my positive side of the cable for the battery because i had a crack in it, they kept telling me that that wasnt the part i needed to get! then when they finished i looked at the battery and they cut two tubes connecting to the positive side of the battery and took out the piece that connected the two tubes and took a red cap that covered the positive side of the battery. they charged $16 when they took unnecessary parts out without my permission and didnt even do what i asked which was to put a NEW cable connecting the positive battery! my dad couldve done what they did without any charges!!! I asked them to check stuff like oil and put air in the tires to 34 and when they were done, and i went to pay i heard the mechanic talk behind my back so i asked the guy if he did put in air in all my tires and he lied in my face and said that it was done, i checked all my tires and they were all the same as it was when i check before i went to the shop. freakin LIARS!! just because im a girl that looks like i dont really know anything about cars doesnt mean they have to lie and charge for things that is useless and take parts without asking me. nothing better happen to my car now!

Pep Boys have taken the SERVICE out of customer service. BEWARE!! My wife ran off the road and had to have the both tire and tire rims replaced. The car was towed to Pep Boys (Big Mistake). My Insurance company contacted them to have an estimate done. I told Pep Boys to do the repairs that my insurance company approved. The 2001 Yukon was older and the insurance company would only pay for refurbished rims and not new ones. This put us into an $1,800 repair. I was called by Pep Boys and they said that the car was repaired. I came to pick it up only to find the bill was more then the estimate. After review, I discovered they purchased and installed 2 chrome new rims @$500.00 /ea and not used rims @$175.00/ea, like the insurance company approved. I spent 2 weeks trying to get this resolved. Pep Boys refused to remove the new rims and put used ones on the car like the estimate called for or work with us with any way, shape or fashion. JOE the manager, rudely, required us to pickup the car or he would leave it outside. The car was in their position the whole time. Multiple employees lied to US. In the end I had to bend over and take it. New rims cost $500 each the referb where $175. OUCH! Pep Boys have taken the SERVICE out of customer service. BEWARE!!

Had this location replace a brake caliper over a month ago while I was in the Knoxville area. Drove about 3 hours on my way home, and then I got to a point where I lost most of my stopping power (had to hold the brake all the way down). Took it into a shop nearby and came to find out that Pep Boys had put the wrong freaking caliper on the car - this had caused the brake line to rub against the tire and wear through the line itself. I then promptly reported this to the Pep Boys location in question on 4/22. The repair work wasn’t completed until 5/1 (had to wait for a new caliper to come in), and I immediately submitted the receipts to the service manager at Pep Boys. It is now 5/22, and I still have not received a claim check, nor can I get a straight/consistent answer on the status of the claim from both the store itself and corporate. I am still out $723 between the repairs from their mistake and the rental car I had to get while waiting for the repairs. Lesson learned: these folks do not check their work before sending you on your way, and they do not own up to their mistakes. Deserves zero stars to be honest.
