could not have asked for better. lemme start with the phone call: i called on a sunday early evening just to inquire about rates. i assumed it would be more expensive to have them come out sunday night and was going to wait until monday morning. then i remembered that the next day was a holiday. i didnt think i could make it all the way to tuesday without using my bathroom, so i called. i was pleasantly surprised to hear that roto rooter doesnt change their rates for weekends or holidays. they have set rates (which i actually got to see on my plumbers rate sheet) no matter what time you call. second, they indicated they could have someone out to see me in about 2 hours and that someone would call to confirm a few minutes before. i think it only took 15 minutes (not 2 hours) and i got the call (from a real live person) that my plumber was on his way and would be here in 30 minutes depending on traffic (which is a huge issue in austin). sure enough, he was here in less than the 30 minutes. so from the time i called to the time someone was at my house, was less than an hour. the plumber himself could not have been nicer and more professional. he took the time to listen to my problem and what i had already tried and he carefully explained his thoughts and what the charges might be depending on what we decided to do. at first, i was worried because when i told him my house, although recently remodeled from the floor up, had OLD cast iron pipes (from 1947) under the house, he indicated that the most common problem he is seeing in austin is these old cast iron pipes just corroded until there is no space left in them for anything to pass through. at first he indicated id need to start thinking about replacing the old cast iron and that this job could get really expensive in a hurry. i was sick. i had visitors coming that week so i asked him what it would take to get things moving at least temporarily. he told me what could be done and what charges would be incurred. but get this! he actually tried to talk me out of it, because he didnt think it would work and he didnt want to have to charge me for something that wouldnt work. very refreshing - a plumber who is trying to SAVE me money! anyway, i convinced him to try what he could for a very fair price that we agreed on before he started. and to make a long story short, if its not too late to do so, it ended up working, and even the plumber was elated to see that my 63 year old pipes still had enough diameter to keep me going for awhile. i must also point out that despite the fact that my floors were already grimey because it had been raining all weekend and i had been tracking mud in and out, and despite me telling him "dont even worry about your shoes or mud, im gonna clean later anyway" he STILL put on fresh booties every time he walked in the house, and even put booties on the wheels of the tool that he used! he worked WITH me so i could see everything he was doing, and he explained things that i could do in the future to prevent having him come out again! as well as telling me about cheap things i could buy at the hardware store to make my system better. and all of this on a rainy, dark, cold sunday night! by the time we were done, i had confidence that the job had been done right, i couldnt have asked for a nicer plumber and experience, and ive been singing the praises of roto rooter ever since. and its guaranteed for 90 days! if you need a plumber in austin, dont even bother with anyone else. call roto rooter.

Called Roto Roter at 7:20 PM to report a bathroom leak that had damaged some of the walls and had leaked under the flooring as well (walking on the floor near the bathroom it was obvious that it was sodden underneath). The dispatcher called back at 7:35 to let me know that it would be 2-3 hours before a plumber could be there. I said that was fine. At 8:05 one of their water remediation specialists called (about the water damage / water removal). He said he would call at 7:00 AM the next day after the plumber determined the source of the leak and damage to see what services would be needed. at around 9:00 PM the initial dispatch woman called to say that no one could come out tonight, but promised (yes actually promised) that a plumber would be at my house by 8:00 AM. The water remediation guy DID NOT call in the morning (but the plumber had not been here so no rush apparently). It is Austin so I gave the plumber additional time to arrive. At 8:35, I called Roto Rooter and the woman who answered the phone said that she could dispatch someone as soon as they were available. I asked to speak to a manager. I spoke with Chris the manager who apologized, but told me that it might not be until 11:00 that someone would actually arrive. He did not have an explanation why Roto Rooter had failed to send someone, keep me informed, or what Roto Rooter was willing to do about it. I will NEVER under any circumstances use Roto Rooter again.

I called Roto Rooters and I was told that if they could not fix it they would not charged me by Chris Evans and Technician Pablo. I had a leak under my toilet and water everywhere. He told me the problem was main sewer was stuffed up, he said the would run the line and fix the issue. They charged me over $300 and they told me they would guarantee their work. About an hour after they left I still had the exact same problem. I called a 2nd time and they came out, they said they were not sure about the issue and they needed a camera technician to come out but they were so busy. He spoke to his manager Dell and they told me that they would send a camera technician to my house within an hour, that was 3 hours ago and still I have they problem and they have my money. I tried to call and spoke to Jean in dispatch who was rude to my sister and I. I tried to speak to a manager and still no one has called me back. This is family time, I paid a lot of money and I keep getting the run around. I asked for my money back so that I could call someone responsible and they still wont help me or return my call. I have been putting my holiday family time on hold all day for this company. This is the worst customer experience ever. I would appreciate a call back... If you tell someone if we dont fix it we dont charge you and you take their money and refuse to help them that is awful service. The worst customer experience !!

I Called Roto Rooter based on the reviews posted here on Google, They did schedule me and kept their scheduled time and from there it all went down hill. The technician showed up to my house informed me that the job would be easy to do, Then told me that he didnt have the proper tool to do the job. I asked if he was going to get the tool he said he couldnt due to no one being at the office. The final straw was when i asked what the fixture was going to cost, where he proceeded to get on his nextel or two way radio and asked someone what he should charge for the fixture the response was 600.00 (I thought to myself ok) then the tech told the gentlemen that it would be easier and shouldnt be that much (im thinking ok this guys being honest) then the man on the radio responded charge him whatever you want...pause charge him 350.00 plus tax. I feel that a company that operates this way should in no way ever get my business and will never be referred by me to a friend or anyone for that matter. Im happy for those that had a great experience with Roto Rooter But I did not...
