2 years ago this place was well managed by a man who believed in fixing peoples cars at a fair price. However under current management (Mark) they believe in sloppy work, overcharging for parts that they swear are from the manufacturer, and will even make up fake "procedures" in order to bleed out an extra $100 out of you. I went in a few weeks prior to have my inspection done and decided to go wandering around the shops near buy to kill some time. After over an hour and a half of not receiving a phone call to let me know that everything was completed, I returned to check on the progress. My car was in front with the inspection sticker, but the dates were not in the correct order which I had them fix before leaving. They also did not give me the paperwork telling me what had passed and what had not like they used to do so that I could replace the little things such as winshield wipers (which I knew were way over due) etc. The second time I went in, to see what was causing my engine to have trouble starting up, I had mentioned that I had replaced a few parts and cleaned out some gunk which required an oil change as well. That was when Mark decided to take the opportunity to tell me that I had not used the wrong brand, which is strange because my mechanic father recommended the parts I bought. It would also conveniently cost over $150 for the $4 parts. Before even seeing my car he claimed that he knew what the problem was, but it would cost $100 to "hook it up to our big master computer" to make sure that the parts were really causing the problem and not the wires. Also, before checking to see what was wrong, it would cost over $450 for the repairs that they would have to do and all the parts had to be from the manufacturer because they were the best. I declined all but the oil change, did some research and found that for $50 and a few minutes of my time I could fix the car my damn self! Now she starts up in an instant with no hiccups. Screw those guys!

I have been contemplating if I would write a review or not since last June...but I am now needing more work done on my car. All I can remember about this shop is how badly I was treated. Even though they fixed part of the problem on my vehicle I simply cant trust them if I brought my car back. I was not treated respectfully, Per se. The front desk guy was rude and very sarcastic but of course he is required to give "great customer service" in front of his boss and other customers walking in behind me. I was mocked not only by the mechanic (who stated he had worked for a dealership as a lead mechanic prior to city garage and said he knew what he was doing) but also by the individual in the front. At the time I was going through a tough time with my toddler and tried my best to trust them with my vehicle. I repeatedly stated I didnt feel safe driving the car around with my son. Which was my main concern. The "diagnosis" of the car was paid however, I wanted a FULL Diagnosis of the vehicle; which they did not do. Spent over $2000 under the hood. ( I got a second opinion and they missed 4 main areas of the vehicle! Which I showed them afterwards and they were still trying to charge me $150 more than the other mechanic shop!) After I explained to the front desk something was still wrong with my my car he suggested the mechanic who worked on my car would go on a test drive with me...this was not the case. They sent someone with me who did not work on my car at all. Number one I felt mistreated because I was a female. Number two I was mocked every time I voiced my concern that something was not right. I am not a mechanic however just because I am a female does not mean I am clueless about cars. Sadly, I would have enjoyed coming back. I give them 2 stars because whatever they did work on under my hood was fixed well.

Ive been searching Dallas for an honest garage that does oil changes and more. City Garage apparently does everything except body repair and inspections. AWESOME! I THOUGHT. I visited City Garage for the first time in September 2012 for an oil change. Their staff was very friendly and up front. They were very helpful all around that time. I returned for another oil change a few months later, and the price was an outrageous $39.99 for a BASIC oil change. No coupons were available for that visit. Then about 500-800 miles later my 2011 Nissan new cars engine started ticking like it had old oil or was low on oil. Everything was supposedly "fine". So I let it go. My husband checked. They hadnt changed the filter and the oil was low and dark like they hadnt changed it. So I gave City Garage one final try a few months ago... December 2012. They still had no coupons for their $39.99 BASIC oil change. Had them change my oil, and when I was on a trip about 300 miles away I had a local trusted Automotive garage check my oil... they showed me that I had an engine leak and it has been like this for a while. I was irrate. Took my car to a Nissan dealership because I was under warranty, and they said WHOEVER has been changing your oil has been using the wrong filter on your car causing a major oil leak. THANKS CITY GARAGE. I used your company consecutively for a 14 months to give you all a shot. My car is messed up and I wont be returning. Thanks for being nice to my friend, but it would have been nice if yall were up front about an OBVIOUS ENGINE LEAK. That is just a liiiiiiiitle bit IMPORTANT!

I will say that the staff was friendly and Walton helped me out in a professional manner but I was shocked at the results they shared with me. I went to them because I had a coolant heating issue with my Jeep and wanted a diagnosis of what the issue would have been? Walton shared with me that it was a hydraulic electric coolant fan that was short circuited somewhere. He also shared with me that is would take a total of $2,552.41 to repair the issue. Of course I would not be able to repair that issue and did seek another source to see what the matter would be. After getting a diagnosis it turned out that I had an air pocket in my coolant system that was causing the issue and needed to bleed my coolant system to get the engine to operate properly. I was shocked that they said it would cost so much yet when I take it to what I thought was a “professional” they were not able to consider or even offer an alternative solution. Needless to say I was able to resolve the issue myself with the use of YouTube, at no additional cost except of antifreeze that cost me $13.00. I only share this to caution others that they may take advantage at City Garage of others for items that is not accurate.
