Im very confused by the negative reviews regarding the owner. Ive taken two different vehicles to the Rufe Snow location on several occasions and the owner--as well as everyone else I came into contact with--was very nice. He personally shuttled me to my house when my car was in for a few days and the two times Ive taken my cars in where nothing wrong was found they did not charge me for any time or anything else. They simply told me to not worry about paying for anything and explained why I might have thought something was wrong. I have been charged for unnecessary work at other places but Christian Brothers has never charged for something I didnt need. The work done on my vehicle has always been done properly. I started going to Christian Brothers after a friend had taken his car in to have some work done. A problem came up later on that was only very loosely connected to the work done previously and Christian Brothers did the work--parts and labor--for free. They didnt have to do that, but they did. They have also directed me to ways to get the parts I need faster and cheaper than they could get them and bring them in for the work to be done. They could have ordered the parts and charged me a lot of extra money, but they opted for expediency and affordability instead. People arent perfect and make mistakes and have bad days. Sure, we all want 100% customer service when we believe we are faultless customers, but the customer is not always right and people cannot always be 100%. Even machines programmed to be 100% arent always 100%. What I tend to find is that many people confuse conciseness and directness (or a quote they dont like) with rudeness, and they usually write reviews before thinking things through or giving the business a fair chance. Having gone in so many times myself, theyve proven themselves to be knowledgeable, friendly, courteous, generous, and competent.

Took my van to have the brakes done. The dash light had come on and the brakes started to squeal every so often so I knew it needed new pads. I was told it would cost $236.00 and take 2-3 hours. I dropped my van off at 7:00 am and confirmed the price and how long it would take. At noon I called, and was told "We have other cars from wednesday that get fixed before yours, we will call YOU when it is ready." This rude, lack of customer service had me pretty upset, and I guess my calling to find out about my van upset them as well. Because I recieved a phone call, that my van never had brakes.. and it was missing electrical components which is why the pretty light on the dash was on. Total cost of repairs now? 1336.67. The rear brakes indeed were definately bad and in need of repair. But while looking over the quote they gave me when I decided to pick up my can and drive home. (Which still stopped amazingly for not having any kind of braking system.) The 236 dollars to replace all four brakes had suddenly increased. They qouted changing the front pads and rotors at $487 dollars parts and labor. Changing the back drum brakes, and the wheel cylinders they broke for $587.. I am opting to do this work myself, as total parts will be around 300 dollars. Of course, now that they have used their air tools to tighten my lug nuts, I have to find a way to loosen them with a tire iron. Glad I am not on the side of the road with a flat.

My car broke down in a middle of a road trip with my girlfriend, so AAA has carried me to this place. The Alternator needed to be replaced. The guy said that to get the job done earlier, he can go buy the alternator at near by OReilly. When he prepared a bill statement, he charged $350.00 for just the alternator parts fee apart from the work fee. I called the nearest OReilly and asked for the price of alternator for the model of my car. The first one the person recommended was $167.99. Checking on my smartphone, the website also showed the same one. I kindly asked the guy that if he could get the $167.99 one instead, and showed him my smart phone with the price on it. The guy said "Where did that come from?" "Still we cant just sell you with the same price that they would sell it to you." I believe he meant that he would charge $200 for just him driving to OReillys and buy the part himself, which was less than a 10 minutes drive. Also what they installed in my car was remanufactured alternator, and not a new one. The fact that they were overpricing it was clearly on the table. There was something awkward about this guy from the beginning, where I felt he is pushing through options that was not of my benefit. I am surprised to see some good reviews here They could have done this to us, because we were passing by here, but I am looking for a ways to file complaints to this place.

I took my car in a couple of weeks ago before a road trip to my home state of Maine. The Check Engine Light was on so I wanted to make sure that it was not a safety issue. While waiting, my mother-in-law was overcharged for an oil change and inspection. After the mechanic read the code, I politely let him know that I would do my research and get back to them. He laughed, calling me a "Googler," and telling me they often laugh at people who use the Internet for auto research. A bit embarrassed by his harassment, I firmly let him know that as a woman, I have been taken advantage of by mechanics before, and that if he is sure of his recommendation, then he should have no problem with me doing my research. He then proceeded to tell me that he had spent 15 days in Maine and it was the worst time of his life because the "people were so rude." Really? Clearly I should learn a lesson from him--passive aggressively offending an entire state because ONE person from there decided that making an informed financial decision was better than automatically trusting an AUTOMOTIVE company that uses the name of a religion in their name (total con artist red flag). Fortunately, God blessed me with a brain, but I pray that He at least blessed this man with something else.

From posted reviews and my own experience, it seems apparent that the Rufe Snow location targets women with little automotive knowledge, and misinforms them about diagnosis and needed repairs in order to pad their profits. Case in point: I was unfortunately unable to look at wifes car immediately and so she dropped it by this shop...big mistake. To keep this short, they replaced every part on her car which had just recently been replaced for maintenance and diagnosis of the vehicle for ongoing drivability issues, and this was after I spoke to them on phone to let them know all the parts that were literally brand new and still under warranty due to recent service work. They charged her nearly 1000 dollars to replace parts that had already been replaced within past 30 to 60 days, including coil, spark plugs, idle air control valve, fuel rail pressure sensor...etc, basically telling her they were all ruined by fouled spark plugs? At least the last shop she took it to, Calloways, didnt charge her when they couldnt fix her car after keeping it for a few days, although they also wanted to replace brand new parts, claiming they were bad, which they were not. Women beware! Filing a complaint with BBB on Rufe Snow Christian Brothers Automotive for fraud.
