Celebrating my daughters birthday, my SIL made reservations at the Belvedere in the Padre Hotel. We took advantage of the valet parking and entered the lobby of the hotel and found our way to the Belvedere. They parked our party of five in the corner next to an exit door, which didnt contribute much to photos of the event. But the rest of the evening was stellar. Brian, our waiter, took our drinks orders and knew the menu inside and out and made excellent suggestions as the night progressed. Four of the party chose the Padre salad for a starter. There were pencils on the table and a checklist for the salad so you could "build" your own. Lots to select from staring with a nice selection of greens, then dressings, and then "goodies." I ordered, at Brians suggestion, the sweet potato soup. It had bacon crumbles in it and was excellent! We also ordered the beet ravioli and charcuterie plate for appetizers. My wife ordered the rib eye steak and my daughter ordered the scallops and then they asked Brian to split the plates so they could both have "surf & turf." He did so willingly and brought the plates prepared accordingly. There was a $2.00 surcharge for each plate, which was reasonable enough to offset the mess and agony of splitting it at the table. My SIL ordered the rack of lamb and gave me a taste when it arrived. That was the most tender lamb I have had in years! I ordered the rib eye and Brian suggested that they sauté it in duck fat. I told him to go for it. Excellent. That was an honest 16 oz. steak and without a doubt the most tender rib eye I have had. My two sides selections were Brussels sprouts with bacon crumbles and a twice bake potato. Loved the sprouts! Not so much the spud; it was way too mushy. My granddaughter ordered the chicken breast with mashed potatoes and green beans. We brought our own bottle of Eberle wine and they corked it for us for $20. We enjoyed it with the red meat. Dessert was the frozen citrus selection. Very refreshing! The bill, including several liquor drinks and the corkage, plus a $76 tip, came to $450 for a party of five. $90 a plate and well worth it!

I I COULD RATE AT NEGATIVE STARS I WOULD! so far ive been here 2x and both times faild to meet satisfaction. Literally the worst on the border ive ever been to. the customer service is terribly slow, the manager is horrifically rude and walks away from you mid conversation and always DECLARES you are wrong. my first experience i went i had 2 gift cards both good for $20 and when seated, prior to any orders, EVEN DRINKS, I made sure to clarify i had gift cards and to see if it was okay to use them on alcohol(usually some places wont use them for alcoholic drinks) my waiter said, yes, so we proceeded to drink and eat, when it came time to pay the bill we could not use our gift cards because there was alcohol, BUT MY WAITER HAD TOLD ME OTHERWISE! so we get the manager involved and we are acting very casual and when walking up, he did not even give us the chance to talk, he literally told us " sorry but unfortunately we cannot take these for alcohol, you will need to pay the bill accordingly and we can use the gift cards only on your food" (which was literally chips and queso) after he sarted t walk away i had to stop him, and correct him on what HIS EMPLOYEE SAID, thereafter he said, "no sir, you are wrong my employee would never say that, he knows the policies" 1. there are no indecations on the gift card stating i cannot use it for alcohol, 2. the manager being wrong and not making the customer comfortable nor using the "customer is always right" policy was a total prick, and 3 i will not direct anyone to gross road OTB the second time which was yesterday, me and my co workers go up to OTB for lunch and literally all the food was wrong, i ordered live guacamole and it came with my food, i ordered the fajita vegies to the side, i only a vegetable medlee for a plate of food, we got chips, they were cold. all around HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE AND WILL NOT COME BACK EVER

After a year and a half of not having a date me and my husband decided to have a date with our 1 year old son before we have our daughter in September. We did not think the food was bad. For the price Im very disappointed with the service we have received. The waitress (Portia) gave us only 1 drink refill the whole time we were there, brought us the check without asking if we wanted anything else like desert, we asked for a Togo cup and shocker she never brought it to us after 10 minutes of waiting and her going to other guests who came in 5 minutes after asking for the Togo cup, her attitude radiated "youre bothering me by being here". She was very short with her words and didnt care to be kind. We called to talk to a manager and the women who picked up the phone said the manager was in a meeting until he gets off work in 4 hours and when the next manager is in hell also be going into a meeting so we cannot talk to a manager. Im so very upset that we have wasted our money on going here after so long of not having a date in over a year. Update: We called for a manager again an hour after leaving OTB and actually talked to one. He was very kind and helpful and Im hoping the sever gets retrained. IF we end up going back I hope the service is a lot better then it was this time. Other reviews and experiences dont really suggest such.

When we first showed up the hostess tried to sit us at someone elses table only to realize her mistake at the last minute. After sitting at our correct table, the server came over and take our order and this is when the horrible service started. There was 5 of us and they only brought out the food for the adults leaving a hungry kid without food. I understand this happens but its what followed that was unacceptable. We informed the food runner that he forgot the kids meal. He looked at the receipt and acknowledge his mistake and then disappeared forever. For the next 10 minutes, yes it was really that long, we did not see the food runner or our server. Finally we ask one of the many employees standing around to get the manager. The manager goes to the kitchen to get the food. We wait, again. The wait this time was due to the food being cold and having to be remade. I guess our server and food runner were too busy doing nothing and the countless employees standing around could not be bothered to work. We finally get our food and the bad service is still not over. The server eventually makes her way to our table to apologize and then disappears, again. We finish eating and have to wait for our server so we can get our check. We continue waiting. Finally we are able to cash out and leave. We will not be returning, ever.

Have visited this place a few times, food is good, we enjoy eating at the bar side, unfortunately we get ignored there, we never know who our server will be but when we do get one its good. We would frequent this place if there was enough tables at the bar but we dont. Monday 03/14/2016 around 5:00,we thought we would give it a try and horay there was a clean table at the bar and we got all comfy ready to enjoy our meal and drinks. One thing we did notice door was open I guess because a/c was not working good, either way we were just glad we found a table...Bartender looked at us maybe hoping we were bout to get served and nothing.... Ok, 3 other servers would past right by us and no reponse, no eye contact no nothing!!!! By then we started to get discourged and even tho we knew a/c was out we tried sticking around. By now it was 20 mins and still no greetings or no one coming over to our table ,so we got up and left. I am sadden that the bartender who has waited on us before just blew us off. Let me say we go out 3 to 4 times a week and when we do we leave a very generous tip. Needless to say we went down the street to Cafe Del Rio and are always treated there with kindness. So long On The Border you had your chance. We honestly tried.
