The service at this store is beyond terrible. I took my 2012 truck in to have the battery replaced. I made the appoint for 3 pm on a Tuesday afternoon when they shouldnt have been very busy. When they took the truck back into the bay area @ 3:15, it seemed that a problem came up. There were at times 4 tech people with their heads under the hood discussing things. This went on for almost 40 minutes before one of the sales reps came to me with the battery terminal post in his hand and said that it was broken. Now, somehow they expected me to accept the fact that if the post was broken before I brought it into their shop, then A. why did the truck and all electronics still work and B. terminal posts on a 5 year old truck just dont break on their own. Maybe I just appeared that gullible. But since they had already cut the battery cable that was originally attached to the terminal, they left me no choice but to tell them to fix it. The sales rep said he would see if they had a replacement part that would fit. They didnt. So they used the same part that they said was broken and jury rigged it onto the new battery post. There is exposed wire hanging out of the cable that they cut because they didnt bother to replace the cable shield that they cut off. I finally got my truck back at 5:15. Fast forward to Sunday. As I was backing the truck out of my driveway, all electronic apps in the truck stopped working. This includes the power steering, A/C, radio, etc. I called the Pep Boys that had done the work earlier that week and he said I could call their tow service on Monday and maybe the tow would be compd. I didnt have a whole lot of faith in his word, so I drove the truck to their shop and dropped it off for them to work on first thing on Monday. When the rep called me later on Monday, he said that a couple bolts were loose in the connection they built and that it was working perfectly now. I asked him how much would it cost to have the entire battery cable assembly replaced since I didnt have a whole lot of faith in the jury rigged job they previously did. He said he would check and let me know. He called back and gave me a price of $375 plus labor! I was shocked to hear this since I had already Google the part from a store that was 2 blocks away from where they were located. Their retail price was $170 plus tax. Thats a $200 markup over normal retail. Needless to say, theres not a chance Pep Boys will ever be touching any of my vehicles again. The service rep at the counter when I went to pick it up Monday afternoon were acting like he was doing me a favor by waiting on me. He was trying to get ahold of someone because the paperwork was not finished. I stood there waiting on crutches for 10 minutes (I have a broken foot) while he was on his cell phone. Finally, I just told him to hand me my keys so I could leave. When he told me that I was quoted $375 for the battery harness and I informed him that I would have expected Pep Boys to offer to replace the part they broke at no charge. He started to argue that it was already broken when it came in. I then informed him Pep Boys would never see my business nor anyone that I know ever again. He actually got upset. Unbelievable!

If only I could give zero stars. So on a Tuesday, I made an appointment online for 7 pm to get my wifes car inspected and the oil changed. I was excited as it was passed due, and we had forgotten about it, that I could do it on a work night, as they would still be open, and I could even tell them when Id be there so it wouldnt take long. I showed up at 7 pm on the dot, gave them the keys, and sat. At about 8 10 they finally pulled the car in, changed the oil and rotated the tires (A nice free service) then the (I guess you can use the word) "Mechanic" pulled the car out and started to walk in. The guy in charge noticed this, after noticing how long Id been waiting and went out and said, (I could hear them) "Hey this car needs to be inspected." the worker stated, "But its already late, we close in half an hour." Luckily the guy in charge won that argument, and they went ahead and ran the inspection. It failed due to a part having an issue that was causing a short to reset the computer in the car. They told me Id have to get that part from the dealer, as they didnt have such things. So at 9, two hours after I arrived, I drove over to Autozone and bought the part, and installed it myself. Then due to being busy, and having the inspection paid for, and the proof of it, in case my wife got pulled over, I decided to wait till Saturday to go back. I pull up and the old man on duty told me "We dont have anyone working who does inspections today." I was a little surprised they werent doing inspections on a Saturday, but whatever. He then tells me, "Well have someone in tomorrow, if you can come back then." Sunday rolls around and I head on up there. I walk in, the same old man is there, and I tell him Im back to get my inspection re-done. His response was "Oh the machine is down today, sorry." I asked him if he was serious, as I couldnt believe, or at least didnt want to believe, it. He said, "Yup," and walked away. At this point I went to another business and got my inspection done, and *gasp* it passed. So not only did Pepboys waste my time, a lot, but they wasted my money. I will never, ever go back to another pepboys, for ANYTHING. Im telling everyone Ive ever met to never go there again, and you internet ratings checker, I would advise that if you are reading this, please dont go to this pepboys. Go anywhere else.

I had some poor customer services before but this place is among the worst ever. I definitely should have trusted the review of this place. Bought 730 CCA ( cold crank amp) battery in Jan 2015. It was Bosch with 3 year replacement warranty. Yesterday the car wouldnt crank ( apr. 21, 2015). Starter turned but no crank. I tried jumping it, and eventually no more starter "clicking" noise. I took off the battery and take it to Pep Boys hoping for quick exchange/replacement. Was I wrong. Sheena, service supervisor wouldnt exchange it. They ran the diagnosis for over an hour. Instead of measuring the battery for cold crank, they recharged it and told me battery has no issues. Apparently at this place recharging the battery and measuring how much of the charge battery retains is a way to measure a good versus bad battery. Customer brings in a dead battery, shouldnt they measure the battery crank power as is and then compare the measurement after it is recharged? This would be a common sense, more over a scientific way. This woman is on so much of a power trip and doesnt know a good customer service from poor one, she reminded me of the TSA agent who wouldnt let a kid pass with a miniature GI Joe action figure because it had a miniature toy gun. 3 year free replacement! It is stated on the battery. Exchange it and stop giving customer a hard time. Finally she "was not supposed to but do it this one time" arrogant remark, exchanged the battery. I brought it home, connect to my car and first turn of the key the car started. Oh, I also mentioned that when she wouldnt exchange it that I would take my old battery and if the car doesnt start, I will tow it to Pep Boys and have them run a electrical diagnosis. And that if no issues found with the car that they had to reimburse me for towing and replace the battery. Her answer? " No. I can t do that..it is not our policy". Translated: nope. Cant do that. You bought it and you deal with it.
