DO NOT GO HERE. Read below for the full story, but heres what you need to know. 1. This place will squeeze you for all you have, adding multiple things that are on a "fix-now" basis. 2. Their customer service is horrible. They are responsible for a broken piece on my car, and refused to fix it, became very rude, and have no idea what to do to make their customers happy and would rather risk losing business. 3. Their story will change if you push back. At first there was no alternative for me, then when I pushed back, there all of a sudden was a magical alternative. They will lie and push you to give them more money. FULL STORY I am just astonished at the horrible experience I had here. On first impressions, the shop is very clean and has very nice people and is very organized. However, I took my car in for a 450 dollar job, and throughout the time they had my car, the bill increased to 1300 dollars, with another 1000 of repairs I was told needed to happen, but I declined. Then, as Im picking up my car, I asked if my trunk latch had been looked at as I requested (I was missing a screw so the trunk closed, but the sensor stayed on). The technician unscrewed the latch and the backing plate fell into the car. I was told I needed to take the car to their other location. I took the car home as it was Saturday (the trunk tied closed) and Monday I requested that they take care of taking the car to the other location. After demanding that they take the car, they agreed and I was told that they would take it, stay there with the car, and communicate with me regarding options, specifically stating they would give me any options, even if there was a quick-fix option. On Tuesday, Im called and told that it will take 385 dollars to fix the problem, and that no quick fix was available. Upon some push back on my part, all of a sudden a magical quick fix appeared. At this point, I was more comfortable with taking my business elsewhere, as I had been lied to and the discussions turned very rude. The supervisor I was speaking with began attacking my father who was also speaking with her and had no interest in providing customer service to very unhappy customers. I requested that my car be closed with the wire again and returned to me with the pieces. I was told, at 11am on Tuesday, that I would not be able to get my car until Wednesday morning. I demanded that my car be returned and still nothing was done regarding customer service. I picked up the car on Wednesday, was returned with an empty tank of gas, even though I dropped it off with 3/4 of a tank, and immediately brought it over to Northeast Customs Collision and Abraham was very accommodating and fixed the problem, the right way, for way less than the "quick fix" price that BYOP quoted me. I was in and out in an hour and my trunk is completely fixed, the piece that fell was welded, and I am a happy camper! In closing, do not go to BYOP unless you want to spend more money, for less quality, and not be valued as a customer. They will never be receiving my business again or the business of anyone I know.

I normally dont provide such negative feedback, but its hard for me to not post this review based on my experience. I took my car to BYOP because they claimed I could save money on parts and they could fit me in that day (Wednesday) and have me out before my mechanic could fit me in (Thursday). I could do the job myself, but I didn’t have time. I needed my car back right away. BYOP fixed the problem with my engine that was misfiring on 3 cylinders as advertised. I also asked Martin at the 281 and Bulverde Rd location to investigate why my power steering was reverting to manual steering at slow speeds. He showed me the boots on both sides of the rack and pinion bar. The boots showed residue with what he said was power steering fluid. He said based on the power steering reverting to manual, the fluid leaking from the boots indicated the system wasn’t holding fluid and was the cause of the problem. He said the part was nearly $1000 by itself and labor would be additional. He subsequently asked if I wanted to replace the part. Deciding that I could either let it go until it failed or replace it while he had my car in the shop already, I decide to replace the part. When I got finally got the car back (the following Tuesday), he told me that it was still having problems with manual steering at slow speeds and might need a power steering pump or other component replacement. The part he replaced was a remanufactured part and the total for parts and labor was around $1000 on top of the original work I brought the car into the shop for. Who knows how much it would cost to replace the pump or other component. Martin did an exceptional job of tap dancing around why the power steering didn’t work any better than when I brought it into the shop despite my paying $1000 to fix it. My assessment is that I paid to have a part replaced that didn’t need replacement because there was an inadequate diagnosis to determine the cause of the problem. I fault myself for not asking enough questions to ensure they did that, but Martin seemed confident that replacing the rack and pinion bar would fix the problem based on the fluid residue on the rack and pinion boots. Bottom line is that I’m not returning to BYOP for any work. My mechanic (Bill at Pyramid Auto in Converse) still has my loyalty for as long as I’ve lived in San Antonio and he has never failed me. If you’ve never heard of him, it’s because he doesn’t advertise and ALL of his business is word of mouth. I’ve referred him many, many times and I wish I didn’t need my car back so soon that I would have let him take it a day later than BYOP did and I probably would have had it back before BYOP did with the proper work and at a fair price. I know I wouldn’t have paid for parts & labor that I didn’t need.

Good Morning, Let me you how awesome "Bring Your Own Parts" is and the people who are there. My wife and I were driving up 281 and had seen this new location. Not really knowing what is was all about except for the obvious. We made a phone call up to the place and we were going to be heading out on vacation, really needed to have the windows tinted. When I called Craig who answered was very polite and answers all of my questions. When I had made an appointment to get the van looked at, it was Shaun who assisted me with all the details and quotes. I have to say how awesome the shop is and the detail they showcase their cars in the lobby. Shaun was of the utmost professional, as we communicated through email and text msgs to make sure we were on the same page. Even when I had a question close to12am at night he answered promptly. When we picked up the van Shaun stayed late on a Saturday to take care of us knowing we were really needing this for our trip. When the van was all said and done she was very well taken care of and walked me through everything that was done as each window was handled with detail. Before I had brought the van in there was a dark smudge on the front of the van. Shaun talked to me a little about it saying it would come right out. I didnt believe him and Shaun decided to got out of his way and not only have a good conversation, but at the same time buff and rub our the smudge which took about five minutes. I cant say enough good things about this company, the people, and "how" they continue to treat myself, & my family as we are going back to have another car tinted. Thank you for all your personal touches on the Van and getting to know us as friends and not just customers.
