Update: I will say up front that Milstead does quality work. I have no qualms about their workmanship, which is important. They have also been rather polite and helpful answering my questions. However, there have been a few instances where they have quoted me VERY high prices for what seem like relatively simple repairs. For example, I needed a control arm/ball joint replaced on a 12 y/o pickup truck and the quote was more than $1,000. That seems high to me. I have some experience doing auto repairs, so I ended up doing that repair and a few others myself. ORIGINAL Review: We only buy used cars in my family, so car repairs are a regular part of our lives. For years we have bounced around between a couple different shops and always left feeling disappointed. Thankfully, that will no longer be the case, now that we have found Milstead. A few months ago, I received a tow from a Milstead truck and the driver was so kind and professional, I considered giving him our business right then. Recently, I needed some work done and decided to give Milstead a try, based on my positive experience with their tow truck driver. I am so glad that I did! Milstead Automotive saved me from doing a $1,700 repair that another shop said I needed. Instead, I walked away with the correct repair, after a thorough diagnosis, and spent much less. Not only that, but when I went to pick up my car, I found it had been completely washed, even my rims looked brand new. Where else can you get that kind of service? Awesome job, guys.

I brought my truck in for state inspection and I was having the a/c checked as it had stopped working. I got a call on the same Friday that I brought the truck in saying that the truck had passed inspection. The a/c was going to be checked next. I didnt get a call from that point on. I thought I should probably call the next day as I knew Milstead closed early on Saturday. I called at 2pm only to find out that the shop was already closed. This absolutely INFURIATED me! If there wasnt enough time to check the a/c, that would have been fine. But AT LEAST let me know so that I could pick up my truck so that I wouldnt be without a vehicle for the ENTIRE weekend. The dispatch person I spoke to was of no help whatsoever. I had to come by first thing on Tuesday morning to pick up my truck. I ended up being about an hour and a half late to work. And when I expressed the trouble to the people on duty, I simply got an "Im sorry about that", and nothing more. This made it seem that this type of inconvenience to a customer is either commonly accepted or that its of no real concern to the employees. Needless to say, I will NEVER bring my current vehicle nor any future vehicle I own back into Milstead for service. Ive never had any major problems with service before, but this over site is too major to ignore.

This company is horrible. I had my Toolbox moved from a location to another. It was damaged during transit. I wanted to file a complaint and the driver got a attitude with me calling me names and saying it wasnt worth it to file. I take pride in my property. The manager was called out and he agreed with me that no matter what it will be handled. My box was to be taken to there body shop and be repaired. There was another driver to come pick up my box. My box was gone for two weeks and i havent got a call or anything. So i finally called and was told my box wasnt even looked at. Two weeks have gone by and nothing. So finally they said they looked at it and it will be done that next day. My box was delivered to my house without a notice of them coming to deliver it. I see my box and it is done horrible. They just slaped some paint on there and let it go. Not taking any pride in there workmanship for there fault. Still a ongoing battle to have it done properly. Finally giving up because they cant take pride in there company policys. I hope in the future there respect that there customers are there survival. Hope this helps anyone looking for a towing company and a bodyshop.

I have a Mazda 3 that I had towed to Milstead Automotive for a diagnostic. The vehicle is manual transmission and had very little to no acceleration in any gear. Milstead called and told me the vehicles clutch was burned out and almost certainly needed a new flywheel. I was quoted $1785. I talked to some "car smart" friends and family members and they all agreed that was very expensive. I called my 2nd choice automotive shop and explained the situation to them and they offered to do it for less than half the cost of Milstead. When I went in to Milstead to get my diagnostic receipt and have the vehicle released so I could tow it to the other shop they had left my drivers side window rolled down. The catch.. it had been raining for several hours. The vehicle was parked next to the front of the office. Nobody saw this? Over priced and negligent with my property? Not only will I never consider doing business here I will strongly discourage anyone from doing business here.

We took my wifes Beetle in for an overheating issue. after completing the test drive the technician reported that the car was "shifting rough". this had also been noted by my wife. Of course at this point my cynical & jaded repair consumer attitude started to creep in. ("oh I am sure this is not going to be cheap") Greg told me the Trans. Diagnostic was going to be $89.00 and just being honest that he thought it was going to need a rebuild and it could be anywhere from 1-3,000.00. I was not happy but it was what it was. Greg called me this morning and told me that a computer programming issue/error was found and they reprogrammed it and the trans was acting perfect. He was actually excited to tell me that it was going to only cost the initial $89.00 diagnostic fee. WELL DONE to Milstead. With your honesty & ethical business practice, You have secured a customer for ever!

Worse experience ever. After a near fatal accident, my brother was left on the side of interstate 45 at 5 am with no phone(lost in accident) offered him a 100 bucks to take him to the gas station at least and repeated again "Im not your f***ing taxi driver." After this my brother walked home 6 miles after the accident that could have easily been fatal. Thanks Milstead Automotive. Accident occurred 8/19/2016 Update* Went to talk to them in person. Pointless. Stuck up for the driver. Said he would never cus and that maybe he was disorientated from the wreck and not remembering correctly. Said we were and I quote "immature for using social media to blast them" Im beyond disgusted with this place and their drivers inexcusable actions and the place a whole for how the situation was handled.

I was misquoted on a price from a wrecker driver on how much it would cost to tow my vehicle 1.8 miles to their place of business. I asked what the cost of the tow would be since the place from which my vehicle was being towed was only half a mile away from my home. I would have easily been able to have someone come and pick it up, but since it was late I figured the $50 that I was quoted and that was written down on the card I was given was worth not waking up my family. However, when I showed up the next day to get my car, I was charged $250. Im sure this is not an isolated incident as the wrecker drive can say itll cost whatever he wants and will be nowhere to be found when you show up to get your vehicle. Would not recommend this company to anyone!
