Honest, fair, and AMAZING! My daughter (17), recently bought my car. In an effort to encourage responsibility we advised her she would need to complete the registration renewal . Unfortunately she almost fell victim to having to pay a lot of money for repairs that were not necessary. She went to Jiffy Lube to renew on the spot and was told the car didnt pass, she needed have the motor mounts replaced and windshield wiper sprayer fixed. They advised her to go to a location across the street from them to have these repairs done. The motor mounts issue seemed odd, we are the only owners of the car and have taken care of it since purchased new in 2003. She took the car to the recommended location for repair and what happened next shocked us! Their quote was over $500 abd they couldnt figure out the windshield sprayer issue-- she was also informed that a wheel bearing was very loose and needed to be changed immediately. She expressed concern about the costs only to be pressured by the sales rep stating she wouldnt find a better price, he acted like she was wrong to seek a second opinion. He also made her pay almost $100 for "Diagnostic fees"-- odd being they hadnt even been able to figure out what was going on with the windshield sprayer, and told her that they were going to be the cheapest place around. At this point, frustrated with what was happening, we decided to go to Gary Baker for a second opinion. What was found was maddening! The motor mounts did not need to be replaced, Gary explained the criteria for not passing this safety check. The comments listed by the service techs at Jiffy Lube described a passing condition- these people are clueless! Additionally the vehicle information was entered incorrectly, and there was nothing wrong with the wheel bearing. All she needed replaced was the window washer switch which took the Baker Automotive team about 20 minutes to identify. Ultimately the repair cost was just $180, and Gary went ahead and conducted the safety and emissions testing FREE so she didnt have to go back to the other places. Needless to say, we will only go Baker Automotive going forward!! Thank you Gary and the Baker Automotive team! Your knowledge, willingness to teach, and care is second to none!!!!

A truly honest mechanic is the rarest of beasts...A mechanic with ultimate skill...possible to find. But, both in one? You are on the hunt for a mystical creature of fantasy, right? Wrong. We have found the Grail, the elusive unicorn, the pot at the end of the rainbow. If theres a God in heaven, well never have to use anyone else again! In all seriousness, weve brought every car we own to Gary, weve recommended him to everyone we know, and we love doing business with him. He is really honest about what your care requires, what it can get away with for a few more weeks, and what it costs...not just what it will cost YOU...but what it really costs. Hes honest, fair, and so great at what he does. We are never at a loss for transportation...were in and out in no time, and he makes us feel like part of his family. Hes always willing to work with us, and if schedules dont quite mesh, hes flexible in figuring our Plan B. If youre still wrangling those shifty, regular, snakes of mechanics, leave them to their unsuspecting victims and find your way to this gem!

I know cars. I also know what it should cost for repairs. So when one of our vehicles suffered a catastrophic engine failure, I knew what a fair price should be to replace the engine. After calling a half dozen local auto repair shops close to my house, I came away very disappointed by the inflated quotes I received. I went on the Internet and found Baker Automotive which was very highly rated, so I gave them a call. I talked with Gary Baker and he gave me an extremely fair and honest price, which was is some cases less than half what the local shops had quoted. Even though Garys shop is over 35 miles from my home, I towed our broken vehicle to him and couldnt be any happier with the result. Gary is very honest and reliable. He itemized everything he replaced, and gave me credit for parts he didnt end up needing. The work was done professionally and within the time expected. My experience at Baker Automotive was beyond my expectations. Ill be taking all of my vehicles there for service in the future without reservation. Thanks again Gary.

After scouring multiple places online and reading tons of reviews, I decided to try Baker Automotive out for myself. All I can say is WOW! Not only did we receive a fair price on our repairs, but Gary was so upfront and honest with us about our vehicle. He took the time to explain to me in detail how things work in our car (I am not very knowledgeable about cars) and what he thought would be the best plan of action to get it running good again. I thought we got a really good price for all the work he did and I can honestly tell you that our car is running the best it has in several years! Weve taken it to several places to get the problem fixed and nobody has gotten it working great like Baker Automotive! We are beyond happy with everything and will be taking all of our vehicles here in the future! Ive also been telling all our family and friends about how great it is!

Gary is one of "my people". I would never take my car anywhere other than Baker Auto. I dont know a lot about cars, so what I appreciate the most is Garys honesty. He doesnt take advantage of my ignorance. He spends the time to explain whether or not a part or function can safely wait to be replaced or fixed instead of making me feel pressured to fix something that can wait. His towing service is excellent, too. He gets our cars fixed in a very timely manner. We always take our cars to him for safety and inspection as well. When I had to wait with two of my kids (7 and 3), we had two clean and comfortable waiting rooms, a clean bathroom, plenty of $.25 snacks, water fountain, and cartoons. Baker Auto is not opened on Saturdays; however, the wait and slight inconvenience is grossly outweighed by the his trustworthiness and quality work.

Ive come to this shop a few times before for alignments and typical stuff and was always pleased but this latest visit is what got me to write this review. My vehicle wasnt coming out of 4x4 for some reason, I couldnt figure it out and a different shop I had taken it to first couldnt figure it out so I went over to Baker to see what they could find. Well they were puzzled as to what it could be after looking at it for a few hours. I asked them what I owed them and they said they were NOT going to charge me since they couldnt figure it out. Sounds pretty normal right? Well the first shop I took it to still charged me $100 even though they fixed nothing. I always appreciate honest people so this has solidified them as my go to shop when I am unable to fix it myself. Thank you!

I had a very poor experience with Baker Automotive. I have taken vehicles there in the past and have had a decent experience, but this time was a disaster. Before starting at the thermostat like they should have, they replaced the water pump and radiator before realizing it was going to be a quick fix. Yes those parts might have needed replacing in the future, but didnt need it now. The first time they said it was fixed we got the car back in worse condition than we gave it to them in. Three stressful days later and us paying $800 for their troubleshooting we finally got our car back. We will never go there again or recommend them to anyone. Can you ever find an honest mechanic???
