I can’t give these guys enough stars. They were awesome. I was travelling from Portland, OR to San Antonio TX in early June 2015 when the cooling system on my 2003 PT Cruiser failed while going up that steep hill on I80 outside of Ogden. I managed to get the car back to town and started looking for a place to get it looked at, and Pep-Boys on Riverdale was the only shop that could see me that day. Took the car in and they tested out my system, and yep busted water pump which was a 2 day repair. They also quoted for my timing belt, as it is normal to replace those on a PT Cruiser when doing the water pump as you have to take the engine apart to get to the pump, so may as well do it all while you are in there. The price was very excellent considering what I was quoted for similar work in Portland. At that point JD who was my service adviser offered to take me to the hotel of my choice for the next 2 days, which he didn’t have to do, but he is all about customer service and making it right. So the water pump gets replaced and the then the thermostat needed to be replaced so I authorized that too. So JD picks me up from my hotel on the second day and we go back to the shop. They finish up what needs to be done and I’m good to go. Took the car and drove about a mile and it was over-heating again! So back I go and they are all scratching their heads as to what is wrong. A few hours later JD asks me to come out to talk to him, and they have determined that it must be the radiator, as they have replaced everything thing else, and that they will replace the radiator no-charge, but it will mean another night in Ogden. OK so back to a hotel for the 3rd night in Ogden. The following morning JD comes to get me in MY CAR! And it is running great. I take him back to the shop – hug my mechanic, I’m so happy to be able to get on the road. And off I go again. Made it to Texas without a hiccup and my AC is even working better than it has before. In short the guys at this Pep-Boys treated me better than I have ever been treated by an auto-repair shop. They were honest about what was wrong, (they could have told me I had blown the head gasket or cracked the engine block) and worked to get it all fixed so I could get on the road again. If you ever need auto repairs in Ogden Utah go see these guys, ask for JD and tell them Elizabeth from Portland with the Woody PT Cruiser sent you.

I WENT IN ON A SATURDAY LATE AFTERNOON - THE WORKERS WERE STANDING AT THE FRONT COUNTER - NO WAIT - THOUGHT HEY THAT IS AWESOME, NO WAIT, WRONG WRONG WRONG - THE BEARDED IDIOT THAT WORKED ON MY CAR (TEST THE BATTERY, PLUG A FLAT TIRE) SIMPLE RIGHT, NOT TO THIS ANGRY CLOWN - TOOK HIM 50 FRIGGIN MINUTES. I WENT TO THE COUNTER, ASKED THE ONE NICE FELLA HOW MUCH LONGER IT WOULD BE, HE CAME BACK A FEW MINUTES LATER AND SAID IT WOULDNT BE LONG - HANDED ME THE STRIP SHOWING THE BATTERY LIFE, THEY QUICKLY PRICED OUT THE BATTERY AND I ASKED HOW LONG IT WOULD TAKE, THE JERK THAT WORKED ON MY CAR, SNOTTILY SAID I WAS WAITING ON A PRICE FOR THE BATTERY AND HE ROLLED HIS EYES AT ME AS HE LOOKED AWAY - 30 MINUTES LATER - HE PEELED OUT IN MY CAR BECAUSE BEBACK OUT OF THE BAY SO FAST!!! WHEN I WENT TO PAY FOR IT THEY DIDNT TAKE MY COUPON I HAD AND THEN THE GIRL (ALSO VERY RUDE AND SNOTTY) SHE REFUSED TO CORRECT HER ERROR AND TAKE OFF THE COUPON, TOLD ME I HAD TO CALL ON MONDAY TO SPEAK TO A MANAGER. THEN I LEAVE - MY RADIO WASNT WORKING AFTER THE BATTERY CHANGE, I RETURNED TO THE BAY - ASK THE ONE NICE FELLA (JEREMY) THAT WORKED THERE ABOUT IT, HE TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE TO COME BACK SUNDAY BECAUSE THEY WERE TOO BUSY (ESSENTIALLY TO FIX WHAT THEY SCREWED UP). I LIVE 45 MINUTES AWAY, HE SAID IF I GOT THERE AT 9 OR 9:30 THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET ME IN RIGHT AWAY. AS I WAS LEAVING, THE IDIOT THAT ALLEGELY FIXED MY CAR, BACKED OUT A MINI VAN IN A BAY AFTER HE SERVICED IT SO FAST, HE SLAMMED INTO A PONTIAC THAT WAS PARKED WAITING SERVICE IN ANOTHER SLOT OUTSIDE THE BAYS. NICE PRESENT FOR THOSE TWO VICTIM OWNERS BECAUSE HE HAD A POOR ATTITUDE. I SHOW UP AT 9:15 - THE SAME CREW WAS AGAIN LOITERING AT THE COUNTER - THE ONE NICE FELLA GREETED ME AND SAID I SPOKE WITH MY MANAGER AND YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE TO CALL THE DEALER FOR A SPECIAL CODE TO KEY INTO THE ON BOARD COMPUTER TO FIX THE RADIO" NICE!!!!! I COULD HAVE GOTTEN A FLIPPIN PHONE CALL SO I DIDNT HAVE TO WASTE AN HOUR AND A HALF DRIVE - I WILL BREAK DOWN AND HITCH HICK BEFORE I EVER GO THERE AND I WILL TELL EVERYONE I KNOW TO AVOID PEP BOYS - THEY HIRE INCOMPENTENT WORKERS THAT ARE RUDE - THE ONE NICE GUY CLEARLY DOESNT BELONG THERE WITH THE JERKS. AVOID PEP BOYS LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!!! AS I TELL PEOPLE OF MY EXPERIENCE, I HEAR SO MANY HORROR STORIES.

A few months ago I replaced the front brake pads on my wifes van. Oddly I ended up at this Pep Boys, which is about 30 min from my house due to some other shopping I was doing. The help inside was not the best, however I was introduced to a brand of brake pad that I wasnt familiar with (Akebono) and they were highly recommended by the counter help. I bought them and they were pretty impressive. So when the time arrived to replace the rear pads I went to their website and ordered the rotors and pads. Here is where problem started. I had to have the rotors delivered to my house and the pads delivered to the store. At this point I should have stopped and just ordered everything from Amazon or gone to another local supplier, however I liked the idea a supporting a "local" store and they were the first people who recommended the pads and earned my business. A week later (3 days after the estimated shipping day) the rotors showed up so I decided to drive to Ogden to pick up the pads. I called first and confirmed the pads had arrived at the store. Here was the second problem, the guy on the phone told me they werent there, but after my persistence he somehow found them in a "separate non normal area". I asked him what time they closed and I had about 45 minutes to get there. I arrived at the store 10 minutes before closing and everything was locked up. I knocked on the window and after a few minutes an employee came to the door and said he closed early do to an emergency in his family. He refused to open the door and let me pick up the pads due to he was the only employee there and had closed the tills. Its unfortunate that this employee had a family emergency and hope everything is ok. Its unfortunate that he and had to leave early, however what manager staffs a store with only one employee? Even if you have staff call in, then as manager it would be your responsibility to cover that shift. I would think at minimum for safety and customer service you would need to have 3 employees on site during operating hours in case there is an emergency....or actually more than one person shopping at a time. After reading the other reviews its evident that the problem is at the top and the leadership of this store or even area are a complete failure on many levels.
