UPDATE: I did just see a $52 refund hit my account. No call or anything to tell me that would be happening, but this is a result of my customer service complaint with headquarters Im guessing. It still doesnt make up for the multiple hours of time and stress Ive put in as a result, but I feel the wrong has been righted. ORIGINAL POST: I was overcharged nearly $50 and cant even get the manager on the phone to handle this. Ive called 4 times and they dont pick up there so it always goes to central dispatch. The level of indifference and total disrespect is unbelievable. I rented a 15 foot truck from this location. As per usual, I was told to check the fuel gauge and miles before leaving. I did and noticed the fuel, which was listed as 3/8 of a tank on my sheet was actually at 1/8 of a tank. The miles were off by 65 miles, so I went back in and told them it was wrong and asked them to change it. They changed the fuel and were very nice about it, but said they couldnt change the miles because it was already in the system, so they wrote the miles on my sheet and said "Just make sure you leave these on the seat so we can see what happened with the miles and you dont get over-billed. Put them on the drivers seat so we would have to sit on them. I followed their instruction to the letter when I dropped the u-haul off that night after hours. The next day I saw they had gone ahead and still billed me for the extra 65 miles I showed them were not mine before driving out of the parking lot. Ive tried calling them now 4 times and cant get anyone to address this. The manager is said to have had messages left to call me and hasnt. So I called to complain to the dispatch guy and he told me I would have to go in to talk to the manager. I drove 20 miles with my dogs in the car, took time off work, and had to leave them in the car with the A/C cranking just to go in because shes apparently too important to address my problem. Its $50 and its absolutely wrong of them to do, and frankly at this point, criminal. She wasnt in the office when I arrived, so the person I spoke with assured me she would tell her to call me the next day and couldnt guarantee she would do anything about it (which is ridiculous in the first place) but that she would call me back. Days later she still hasnt called. How unprofessional and inconsiderate. Save yourself the stress and money and go somewhere else. These guys are crooks.

My initial experience was great when I spoke with Kiley Brown, who was the GM. I went in to make a reservation, and was ready to pay whatever the reservation costs were, however Kiley advised me they priced match, went out of his way to look up the lowest price for me, printed out a copy of the quote, and said he wanted to make sure I paid the lowest price! I didnt even ask! I was so floored by how great it was. However, my plans changed, and I needed to cancel my reservation. When I was able to finalize new plans, I decided to go back to this location because of my positive experience with Kiley. However going today (5/22/2016 at about 1 PM) the man who was there treated me very poorly, like I was a liar and a criminal. I simply advised him I had previously made and cancelled a reservation and would like to make a new one. Because of the information Kiley provided me about price matching, I had thought I was doing my due diligence by placing a reservation at the competitor so I would have a quote ready for them to price match, as I would have loved to give my business to this Uhaul location instead. The man working today was very defensive about it, and said I needed to provide documented printed proof. (wouldnt accept any other proof, not the competitor website or an email confirmation.) When I advised him Kiley kindly went to the website and printed it out in 5 seconds last time, he said that was absolutely against policy, and he said, verbatim exactly in a very angry tone "I will CHALLENGE my GM on that!" Im not sure who even owns a printer in todays day and age with emails and internet, but the mere fact he was such a stickler, despite pulling up the website himself, and providing a completely opposite experience than the first one I had, and having such an accusatory and defensive tone, has completely ruined my experience. I am moving on the 26th, and have decided to use the competitor because of the experience I had in store today. Stores should provide consistent experiences, and the mere fact that the only person with any brains and customer service skills is the GM, is very concerning. I hope this location can improve.

I used U-boxes for my move and I had a number of problems with the overall experience: CONS: 1) Extreme difficulty trying to speak with someone at the location office, kept getting redirected to a phone center, was told that after having 2 emails and 2 instant messages sent on my behalf requesting an immediate call-back that I would be contacted before close of business in 4 hours but I did not receive a call back until the next day. 2) This service took longer and was more expensive than other options I looked into. The only reason I was forced to use U-hauls U-boxes over the other similar services was the lack of equipment availability for the other businesses on such short notice. 3) I wish there had been some way for me to predict when the shipment would arrive. I kept calling while it was en route and the representatives could never specify the location of my U-boxes and they were always confused about what day they were shipped and when they would be expected to arrive, making it difficult for me to plan when to be available. I will highlight the pros, though: 1) I felt that all the representatives both on the phone and in person were very attentive, pleasant and as helpful as they could be, given the limitations of their system. They were very patient in explaining all the details of the service throughout the entire process. 2) This location replaced my personal lock that was broken during the shipping and they reduced the mileage that they charged for the truck I rented to for self-delivery, since a major mistake made by the origin location forced me to have to drive back and forth to the U-haul store, new house and truck weight station. Because everything worked out in the end, I will not say that the service was poor, but I would advise anyone considering using this service to look into other professional moving services first. Also, if you need a weight ticket, make sure the representative who coordinates the reservation understands what exactly you require.

If I could, Id rate U-Haul a 1, and this location a 4. My experience with U-Haul, in general, was sub par, but at the end of the day (and after having to reschedule twice, due to them) I got my move completed. I didnt have a bad experience with this particular location, per se, just with U-Haul in general. To try and be as concise as possible, I was selling a home and our closing date got moved closer by 3 weeks, leaving me to scramble and find a way to get my last furniture out of there and to the state we were moving to. I made my reservation and was told the truck would be available the morning I needed it. The night before I got a confirmation that the truck would be available in the evening, and a 90 min round trip drive away. Without a reasonable way to pick up a truck almost an hour away (one way), and the fact I had movers scheduled for the early afternoon, I had to reschedule. This happened twice. Finally, I got a truck confirmed at the location on 53rd S. I verified this twice. When I showed up at that location the day of, I was told that my reservation was for the 39th S location. Luckily my ride stuck around, knowing all the headache U-Haul had already put me through, so I was able to get up and get my truck. Everything after that was smooth. On the plus side, I have to admit, U-Hauls competition wanted to charge me over 2x what I paid for a U-Haul, so Ill give them credit there. It was a bit of a hassle, but got it done at the end of the day and saved several hundred dollars over going with their competitors.
