Short story: NEVER use this company, customer service is terrible, they dont follow through with reservations, and will treat you like dirt while they screw you over. Would leave negative stars if it was possible. Long story: I originally reserved a storage unit with this company because I was moving away from Camp Pendleton where my husband is stationed, and needed to put all of our belongings into storage until he finished his active service and joined me in our home state. I was planning on making the move by myself with one other family member. Two days before our move, public storage called me and told me that the online reservation I had made weeks ago would not be honored and that they had no unit for me. My options were to down size (a smaller unit would not fit our entire apartment and all the furniture), move to another location further away from where I would be residing and across town, or to pay more for space that I did not need. This was TWO DAYS before I was to move my stuff into this unit. I was IN THE PROCESS of moving when they called to tell me this. The person that called me had a terrible attitude and was very apathetic about the whole thing, offered no help, and had terrible customer service skills. I essentially told her that this call had rocked my whole moving plan, and I had to check out my options. We cant afford to just throw money down on a unit that we didnt need. The company called me back on the day that I was supposed to move in, and basically laid out the same options and asked when I would be coming by. She basically blamed the online reservation system, said I was out of luck and she could do nothing to help me, all while having the worst people skills and a terrible attitude. Apparently people here hate their jobs, because they cant even pretend to be polite on the phone. I explained that there was NO WAY I would still be using this company and that I had found another who was giving me what I needed and had actually followed through on their end. She didnt even apologize for the mistake or misunderstanding or whatever these people are labeling it as. She basically told me there was no way to guarantee I could get anything no matter how far in advance I booked it, and that the reservation meant nothing. Someone should look up what reservation means. At the end of the conversation while I was mid-sentence she interjected and told me she was canceling the reservation and HUNG UP ON ME. I understand I wasnt the easiest person to talk to, I was VERY upset, moving alone without my husband, and this company completely SCREWED me over last minute, but I cannot fathom a world in which someones customer service is so bad that they hang up on a customer. I will be letting every person I know especially every military family I know who are moving and deploying that they should NEVER use this company.

Roads between buildings are awkwardly sloped, and extremely narrow. It would be almost impossible to take a moving truck down the road by building N, because it felt like a tight squeeze for my mini van, and we also saw a u-haul truck having issues. When we signed up, and we said we would bring our own lock they basically said--it needs to be stronger than the locks we put on empty units and it cant be a combination lock, but it doesnt have to be the kind we sell. Almost all locks say on the packaging when you buy them what type of bolt cutter strength it would take to remove the lock. It would be nice if they could tell you what type of bolt cutter rating they want. I signed up for a unit on saturday, on Sunday I got news that made the storage unit unnecessary. (Their office is closed on Sunday.) I told them Monday within 24 hours I wished to cancel. Jocelyn the girl that sold us the unit, said shed check with her district manager about a refund and later told us they couldnt refund anything. I had paid $1 for first month, and $24 for processing. Since I picked up my lock after I called and notified them of the change in my attention they put the unit back in their vacant inventory so they could "resell" it. Im not a lawyer, but it seems like theres a legal obligation to refund at least my $1 for a months rent when they plan to resell the unit. The next day I talked to them again, including alex allen the district manager and told them Id do a chargeback, and leave negative reviews about my customer service experience, and they said thatd be fine and theyd fight a chargeback. I did the chargeback, and my account has already been credited. They didnt get to keep my $25, and damaged their reputation by not taking care of their customers. Terrible customer service here, and awkward roads so consider using another storage unit. I used southtowne storage just a couple of blocks away 2 years ago, and that was a great transaction so you should look into that instead of this company. This company has lost me as a customer not just now, but in the future.

Proceed only with GREAT CAUTION! They say one thing and will do another. We rented two different spaces from two different people in our family from two different addresses and were not give the first month free as advertised. In addition, we were also quoted one price and told they would hold it. When we arrived with our truck full of furniture a couple of days later, they had us sign the contract, which we did while in a hurry, BUT the amount on the contract was more. We were quoted $132 for each space, including all their extra fees, like insurance, etc. and ended up being charged $20+ more a month. When I discovered what they had pulled over on us, I called and was told to contact the main office, where I left several messages with no return calls. Many phone calls later we received a $5 credit for one month. BE VERY CAREFUL. They will take advantage of you at every opportunity. We, like most people, planned to stay only a couple of months but have had to stay longer. They increased the rate multiple times in a year and a half! We are now paying $188 per month. We WILL NOT use them again and would strongly recommend you do not either.

You get what you pay for. I found a unit that was half price if you closed the deal online. 4 months into the rental they jacked my rates up by 30% Every time I went to check on my storage unit to get something out or put something back I saw the same couple of "renters" that looked more like tenants to me. I swear there are people living in a few of the units. Although nothing was stolen from my space, I felt uneasy about this location the whole 8 months I rented. The staff at the desk are unfriendly and sometimes condescending. The straw that broke the camels back was the fact that they DO NOT pro-rate when you vacate the unit. I think thats a crock. Even if you are one day in to the next month you get to pay the whole month worth even if you vacate on the 1st. They got an extra $100 from me because of this, all the while, having the ability to re-rent it immediately and double dip. I would never rent from these guys again as a whole and especially not this location. USE A DIFFERENT COMPANY! Its not worth the little amount of money you might save!!!
