My experience at Maaco was almost surreal. They broke all the standard auto shop gimmicks, and I can honestly say Ive never seen a group of more honest, caring, hardworking mechanics in my life.
Recently, I was in an accident. This accident caused a slight deformity in the frame, causing the latch that keeps the hood down to be out of place. It wouldnt quite latch all the way, and for safety, we would keep the front duct taped down.
We failed inspection because of it, for "body damage". Any driver who hears these words knows what a deep hole you usually have to dig in your wallet to take care of that one. My girlfriend recommended Maaco, the closest one being in Sandy, and I had never heard of it before. We live a 20 minute drive away, in good traffic, and the store closed soon. We called them up and told them wed be there as soon as possible.

BAD BAD PEOPLE! I paid them $100 extra to repair one scratched area but they just painted over it! It looks terrible. They didnt even bother to at least sand it smooth first! The paint is sticking out like zits because they didnt even sand it at all. There was only one damaged area on the whole vehicle and we showed it to them when we brought it. They said, "yeah we can buff that right out for $100 extra" And I said, "is it a deep scratch or a light scratch, because you mentioned $149 for deep or $99 for light scratch repair" And he said, "thats just light. $99 and it will be all smooth." So when I pick it up several days later they make me pay for it before showing it to me, and it looks SOOOO BAD! I paid them $550 and they couldnt bother to sand the one damaged area before just painting over it. When I brought it to their attention they just said "no thats what you paid for." And when I showed them my receipt which says "light chip/scratch repair - $99" and asked what they repaired they simply answered, "you get out of here now or we will call the police." The lady, Cheryl, was the worst of all! I have never been treated so badly in my life. She said she was going to call the police and I said please do, because a cop may have kept her from yelling at me and my wife and my 5 year-old. I was so shocked at her behavior. Even though they admitted that they charged me $99 extra for repairs and didnt do any repairs, they kept thinking they were justified. They were unwilling to make it right or even discuss it further. They just threatened us and chased us off. Now I have to go to a real body shop to fix what they did.

I brought my 67 mustang to this Sandy Utah Maaco years ago because I heard they did a nice job at a good price. I was very happy with the work and the price was much better than the other shops I checked out. Last week my wife slide off the road on the ice and dented her Jeep commander and ripped off her side mirror. I brought it back to this Sandy Maaco because of my past good experience. I was treated really nice by Jose who did everything right. He was kind, helpful and gave us a good price on the repair work. Jose and the staff got the job done in a day and it was done really nice. My wife loved it... like it never happened. I dont usually write reviews, but I must give credit here to a job well done. I really like this shop and I would highly recommend them for the following reasons: They are nice and treat you fair and with respect. They give a great price. Their workmanship is high quality. They get the job done fast. The price they give you is the price you pay. They save you money where possible ( if they can get a cheaper aftermarket part, they will make you aware of it, and save you money if you wish.) Thanks Jose for taking good care of us and giving us great service... its rare these days. I would highly recommend this Sandy Maaco paint and body shop. Sincerely, John Austin

I ended up at this Maaco shop because an employee of the shop that was recommended and affiliated with my insurance company recommended that I go here. You see, I had some previous body work that had been done on my car about 10 years ago, before I owned it, that was failing. My insurance wasnt going to pay for that to be done because it was prior damage, but I wanted it redone to protect my car, as there were small spots that were rusting. The employee of the first body shop knew Id get a better deal on the body work and paint for my aging, but perfectly driveable car. And I did! Chris and his shop did an excellent job. The prior body work ended up being a real pain for them, as it had been poorly done, but they stuck to their estimate for hours. The car looks beautiful! It was fun to choose a new color too! Lastly, with all that work, they told me it would be 7-10 business days. They finished it in that time frame with no problem. In fact, had it not been for a problem with parts and a little weather, I believe they would have had it done in less. I recommend this shop for sure!

I took my sons car there to get a new paint job. We asked that none of the decals be re installed upon completion. They had the car almost 3 weeks (paint, prep/bumpers, etc). When we got the car back, the paint was fine - but the spare tire and cover were missing, the rear wiper blade was installed upside down/backwards and didnt work and the decals were back on. Additionally, the fog light location was left exposed upon install of the new bumper. We expressed urgency in that it was for our sons 16th birthday, yet they didnt apologize, didnt express any concerns and clearly werent interested in expediting resolution. In fact, Godwin made it sound like it was so far down the line on his list of priorities that it left me with a real negative vibe. Even though we paid just over $1000 for the paint job, its clear to me that once the money changes hands, theyre really only focused on NEW business and not resolving issues to my satisfaction.
