I would have liked to post that I gave Progressive Auto a second chance and that they came through with flying colors. Unfortunately, that is not the case. ---------- Unknowing of my previous history with Progressive Automotive, they were recently recommended to me by one of their competitors to have an emissions test performed. ---------- Since my previous encounter, Progressive has continued to keep me on their mailing list, sending me notices and coupons, encouraging me to visit their establishment. I took this to mean that they sincerely wanted to give me another chance to show me that they could be trusted with my vehicles, could earn my dollars fairly, and I could again recommend them to others. ---------- Hesitantly, I took their competitors advice and dropped my vehicle by their night drop. I got a call promptly the next morning and was politely told that they would not be able to perform the emissions test on my vehicle. They said it was because of a scathing review I had left online that included things that were not quite true. "Not quite true"? What does that mean? Either it IS or it ISNT. I asked the person what I had posted that was not true. They were not willing to discuss it. I stated that I was willing to give them another chance, he declined. I agreed to pick up my vehicle that evening. ---------- So why it is that an aparently thriving business would black-list a customer without letting them know and/or at least try to resolve an issue first? And whats with keeping me on their mailing list? Sort of mixed signals to me. ---------- Upon retrieving my vehicle, I approached the owner to discuss the situation. He aproached me with a somewhat jovial attitude. As I stated before, he is a VERY likable guy. I confronted him about the supposed untruths and he couldnt really identify any. He stated that sometimes, there is just a "Personality difference" and that they could no longer do business with me. He repeatedly, somewhat profusely, offered to remove my name from his mailing list, aparently thinking that his flyers annoyed me. I dont believe he ever understood what I was getting at. ---------- The review arena is just that, reviews, good and bad. You just have to take the lumps with the good. Ebay and Amazon are two prime examples where reviews attempt to promote accountability. Amazon even hosts the format themselves, and doesnt remove the bad reviews. It makes me wonder if Progressive black-lists all customers that post negative reviews? ---------- I do understand that venues can be skewed, showing only the extreme ends of the spectrum, but as of the time of this writing, 75% of the reviews here state that Progressives prices are high. ---------- The Bottom Line(from my perspective): -- Progressive charges me an excessive diagnostic fee and I respond directly to them, then publicly, warning others of their practices. -- They black-list me without the slightest attempt to contact me or to resolve the situation, thus the reason for this followup. ---------- As I began by saying, I wish this could have been a praise of their willingness to better understand their customer, and to at least make an attempt to work out any differences, but it didnt turn out that way. I am sure there are many folks that use and praise their services, but I am not one of them. ...Yet. ---------- My biggest issue with Progressive Automotive is not really their obvious high prices. It is more of their aparent lack of concern. ---------- EDIT: 8/1/2011-Wow! I wonder where those other negative reviews went? Interesting how some reviews are mysteriously not here any more.

I wouldnt even think of taking my car anywhere else for service or VA inspections. The staff at Progressive Automotive, on Warrenton Road, in Stafford Virginia are professionals who truly understand what great customer service is all about. Everyone from the office manager, to the service manager, to the mechanics, really know what theyre doing and really know what good service is. My car computer was knocked out and I was towed to Progressive. I was a wreck because no computer means no car function. These guys were completely professional. They gently told me it was bad, what needed to be done, and about how long the repair would take. They got the job done at a price I could work with. From front desk to mechanics, everyone was WONDERFUL!!!. I recommend Progressive for ALL your automobile needs.

I went here a while ago to get a state inspection and emissions. The staff was friendly, and allowed me to make an appointment. However, they came to me with 1k in repairs that needed to be done to get my vehicle in working order. I took it to a mechanic ive known for years, and he did all the work plus some for 240 bucks. He told me it was a rip off for them to charge what they did. I will NEVER go back here again.

Full Set of AT truck tires, alignment and a transmission flush is what it cost when the gentleman came out and said that I could not put my little 8 ft utility trailer in a space in front of the store...after I already had it in place, and chocked. With tons of empty spaces in front of the store, it was that important to him. Too many tire and auto competitors in the area to be rude to a new customer.

The owner is dishonest an unethical, I would not trust anything that comes from his mouth. He doesnt have a personalit at all, and is very rude. Take your vehicle another 2 miles to Burtons Automotive. Literally the worst experience in my life at Progressive and I will do my best to make sure everyone knows. Stay far away!!!!

The headlights on my husbands truck were dark yellow and unsafe. The Progressive tech made them look brand new and for almost half the amount of money the Honda dealership quoted me. They were quick and friendly too. Thanks!
