This post office is incredibly unprofessional. For about a month I had not received my mail from anywhere. I live in a house divided into 2 apartments and the top apartment had no problems with their mail being delivered. I have been living in this apartment for over a year and had been getting mail regularly until March-April. I contacted the Montrose office and the USPS customer service line. Both of whom told me they would call me back (which i was told 3 times, so far, and possibly a 4th). I never received any call back. In fact the only thing I did receive was extremely awful customer service. I spoke to a total of 3 employees several times (including 2 supervisors) who were all rude to me. My mail started being delivered again as normal, however, I still had not received the mail that was not delivered before nor did I receive a follow-up from them stating what happened. I called the post office again today and spoke to a supervisor who told me she would contact the carrier and call me back. I waited 2 hours and no phone call. I called again and got a different supervisor. She had a very rude attitude, put me on hold and attempted to contact the carrier. As before when they tried this 3-4 times over the past month, the carrier "could not be reached". As I returned home after the phone call I found my mysteriously missing mail on my concrete steps leading down to my apartment. It was about 3 feet away from the mailbox (which the carrier never had an issue getting to before) so I know for a fact that it was deliberately thrown on the stairs. A piece of extremely important mail that had been mailed March 25th, 2016 according to the DMV, was included in this pile of unprofessionally handled mail. It is clear to me that the carrier has been keeping our mail from us for whatever reason. this post office has been of no use to me in figuring out why this has happened and they have no sense of professionalism or customer service. There are still items that were meant to be delivered by now that we still have not received and I would like to know why. This has been a miserable process for about a month.

I had the WORST experience this morning at this location. I ordered live animals and I received an automatic text message that they had arrived at the post office. It was 6am and I needed to pick them up before work. They were babies and needed sufficient heat, water, and food, which they were not getting. After knocking on the front and side doors, I walked around to the back and knocked. There was a window on the door and I saw some women in the room. After they didnt answer I opened the door to inquire about my animals and they proceeded to yell at me and tell me that I was breaking the law. They said that I wasnt supposed to pick up my animals until they opened at 8:30am! On the package it clearly said "Call for pick-up immediately upon arrival", to which they ignored. After much arguing, a few threats from them, and after they denied my animals were even there (which was a lie because I could clearly hear them around the corner) they reluctantly went and got my animals. Worst experience ever and I will try my best in the future to order only from companies that can ship with private carriers. I do not recommend using this location or working with them at all. EDIT: I called them to inform the manager about my experience and was graciously informed on their procedure for live animals. The woman I spoke with, Dionne, was very helpful and very polite. If you are ordering live animals that will arrive at this location, call her ahead of time and work something out. I did call ahead of time, but was simply told that I would receive a phone call the next day.

If I could leave zero stars, I would. After a week and a half of my neighbors and I packages being marked as "delivered ", but not. And marked as "undeliverable " with no peach slips, and outgoing mail not being picked up, we all communicated. We all attempted to contact the Montrose post office, which were all recepted by either a busy tone or finally when I got through a response of "Im actually about to be in a telecomptor meeting, can I call you back in ten muniutes ?"- which of course no one called back and no one answered (although open) after several attemptes to call. While my and husband and I were taking out the dogs we ran into the postal service member who didnt know the code to the building. Not his fault, he was improperly trained. However, if you dont know the code why would you mark things as delivered, or attempted delivery but "no one home" instead of just asking a superior for the entry code? Furthermore, why are my neighbors and I tax dollars being spent on this bs along with our free time attempting to rectify this issue with no response or concern from this postal unit ? Honestly why does the usps still even exist? I hate that this postal unit serves our address. Its not even a Richmond location, but techinically in Henrico 25 minutes away. WHY.

If you are wondering why the USPS is losing money every year because of their inability to understand how to run an effective and successful business, all you have to do is visit this location at Montrose Heights in Henrico, Virginia. They may open at 8:30am, but dont expect anyone to "actually" be working (and that goes for pretty much any other time of the day). With unusually long waits and a rude staff, this location is sure to put you in a delightful mood. I dropped off a package 2 days ago and it still hasnt been scanned into their system, so you can also add "mishandling of packages" to their list of achievements, and I wouldnt be surprised if it was stolen at this point. Avoid at all costs!!! If you visit this location, be sure to carefully watch how they handle your mail and make sure they physically scan it into their system before you leave.

I was told a package had been delivered to "the leasing office" because USPS failed to transfer over my apartment number when given the package for local delivery from UPS. When I repeatedly called to inquire which leasing office (the realty has 7, none of which are in the building I live in) I kept being simply told, after the inevitable 10+ minutes on hold, "THE" leasing office. Turns out, by leasing office they meant the communal foyer for a completely separate entrance to the building, which does not in any way connect to my apartment. Unfortunately, in the week I spent attempting to locate the item, it was stolen as it was left unattended for so long.

The staff is slow. New front counter people seem to be more fast pace, but waiting for someone to come to the door when you have a pick up slip need other service is horrible. 25 minute is unacceptable. My mail was found on the ground by my neighbor who then told me peoples mail is always mixed up with others. This service is crewed up. Strangely enough somebody wallet was in my box but the post office couldnt tell me how it there. And no one else has my box key and the lock supposedly had been changed at least once maybe twice. I have to confirm when I go back to get my new key that they havent called me to pick up yet and its been a week now.
