We were pleased with our experience at Catoctin Automotive until recently. We have had both our cars serviced there for a few years now, but in June 2013 my wife had her oil changed there and what should have been a simple service turned into a real headache. The oil change, one of the most basic of services, was not done correctly to say the least. After the oil change we were out driving and suddenly get the engine oil warning light. We pull off and shut the car down. I check the oil and it is COMPLETELY empty. Checking under the car, there is a VERY obvious fast drip which should have been immediately clear to whoever did the oil change that something was definitely not right. The car had to be towed to the dealership and another oil change performed. Turns out it was pinched gasket on the oil filter. Of course the dealership is not close to home and at the time the service department was closed. In all this was a multi day event and hours of loss time dealing with a bad oil change. We contacted Catoctin Automotive and explained what happened and provided both invoices for their original shoddy work and the dealerships oil change. Luckily the towing was free. Their offer for compensation is to refund the amount for their work. Unacceptable for all the expense and time lost. After pointing this out they agree to pay for their shoddy job and the dealerships portion of the bill, but only after being prompted to do so. Left a very bad impression in our minds given that this fiasco could have resulted in a ruined engine. If they had only immediately offered to cover the whole expense involved due to their mistake wed still be a loyal customer. But as it stands now well be looking for another service shop after this experience.

Based on the very positive reviews for Catoctin Automotive from both Yelp and Google, I decided to give them a try for a rear brake job, tire rotation, and oil change. I dropped the car off overnight and the work was performed as promised the next day. Needless to say, I was very pleased with the service, low prices, and the high quality of work. Honestly, as Ive used dealers the last few years, I was expecting a much larger bill, but, was pleasantly surprised it was a 1/3 of what I was actually expecting. Will definitely use them again for any regular maintenance and future issues with my Acura TL. Highly recommended.

Came to the area visiting family in a newly bought used car (a beater but in pretty good shape) and found that my fuel line was rusted and started leaking. Was recommended this place and took the car there, and the line was replaced the same day (even though I was a walk-in and they had a full schedule) and only for about $100 (even though they had to drop the gas tank to get the job done--no overcharge for parts either; the piece was a few bucks). If I lived in the area, I would have been won over with this first repair. Highly recommend taking your car here. Wish my mechanic back home was half as good!

Great service! As skeptical as I am as a customer, especially in the Auto industry I have to say that the guys at Catoctin Automotive have excceded my expectations. Ive had them to several repairs to my Ford work van and my Honda civic and have always been very pleased with the price, quality of service, speed of service, and customer service. Honest mechanics (just when I thought that didnt exist anymore). We had them give us a second opinion on several repairs identified at the Tire Shop on both of our cars. They denied these were items that needed repaired and saved us over $3000. We have used them ever since to evaluate cars before we buy them, and repair anything we need done. They are fair and honest individuals who do great work. Highly recommend.

I brought them a used car in the area that I was thinking of buying. It was apparent that their pre-purchase inspection was carefully performed (they found some fairly subtle issues that I was glad to know of) and they were very generous with their time, explaining to me what the problems meant and how much it might cost to correct them. All in all an excellent experience.

Not a good experience. I dropped my car to show the malfunction indicator sign. They checked with a gadget which reads the car problems and come up with a fault codes. They came up with repair costs of $475. I didnt want to to get it repaired, they said they would not release the vehicle unless I pay them $90. Had to pay them to get my car released.

Super friendly staff and charged a fair fee. Im not a car person and every single member Ive worked with has taken the time to explain the problem with my vehicle and given me several options for how to go about fixing it. This is the one car place on the planet that wont try to scam you!

I just moved to Leesburg and had to deal with a major car problem. I took the car over to Catoctin this afternoon at 12:30 and had the car back by 4pm!!! Lets not forget that I payed 200 less then most places back in my home state. Catoctin has a new customer for LIFE!!!

Ive been taking my cars to Catoctin Auto for years now! They are just honest mechanics who dont give you the run around. They also seem to be cheaper than most places around. I highly recommend them!
