While the work was completed, it was far from satisfactory. I called Roto-Rooter to unclog the main sewer line of the house my fiance and I just purchased. As it turned out there was a break in the line, which was made of orangeburg. A 50 year old pipe with a 50 year life expectancy. The two plumbers they sent out, one from Roto-Rooter and one contracter running the excavator, were lethargic in their work pace. It was warm sunny day and my father who is a Stone Masson and Forman in Northern Virginia was there with me to make sure no corners were cut. These two plumbers should of had the work done by 2 or 3 oclock. but they didnt finish until 6 oclock. It took them 9 hours to dig a whole and glue 8 pieces of pipe together. I spent half of the day watching one of the two stand and look at the work to be done rather than working on it. The other half I spent handing them tools, materials, changing saw blades for them and doing most of the leg work. They didnt even have the tools and materials needed to complete the job. I let them barrow my WD40, Sharpie, Zip Ties, Chop Saw, Hammer Drill, 2x4, and rebar. When one of the plumbers nicked himself with his angle grinder, I had to administer first aid. It is OSHAs requirement that he has a first aid kit in his van. I could of called OSHA and had the whole project shut done. OSHA is very serious about safety. Since they were too late for the inspecter to check the work, he had to return the next day. Which caused me to miss work again and wait until 5:30pm for them to back fill the dirt. According to the inspector and common sense, they were supposed to cover the pipe with gravel, remove the debris which included the old sewage pipe full of bacteria and you know what goes in there, 2x4s and old bricks. Then leave a two foot crown so the dirt can settle naturally and not leave a dip in my yard in two weeks. When I told them what the inspector had said, The excavator argued with me, back talked me like I was his misbehaved child. This is not the level of respect I assume when paying six thousand dollars for work. Then he proceded to not cover the pipe with gravel, not remove the debris including the nasty sewage pipe now in my yard, and not leave a crown of dirt on top. Now if I tell the county inspecter this, hell make them redo the work. A general manager for Roto-Rooter is coming out to inspect the work, but is considering this a job well done with minor performance flaws. This is unacceptable. The work was not done to code and therefor unsatisfactory. The following day will determine the resolution of the issue and if I need to have the work redone. The county Inspector has the final say, but I know he wont be happy either. Its a shame to pay premium cost for half grade work that isnt to code because of laziness and cutting corners. I will never work with or through Roto-Rooters again. And just now the manger that agreed to come and speak to me today called just to blow me off completely.

I highly recommend Pedro Lopez. I had recurring problems with the extensions of my downspouts not draining quickly enough, resulting in water backing up in the gutters and pouring down the sides of my house, windows, and sliding glass doors. On a Saturday I scheduled Roto-Rooter online for 10:00 to noon the following Monday. At 7:30 on Monday they called to say the technician was stuck in traffic and would be late. However, he was right on time. He quoted me a price for a minimum of two hours’ work to clear my four drain pipes. I didn’t think it would take nearly that long, and I had no way of knowing whether the price was fair because I’ve never had this kind of work done before. However, Pedro explained the equipment and his methods, and I had confidence he would get results so I agreed. It took Pedro a full two hours, working efficiently. He discovered that one drain pipe had shifted and come apart underground, and then completely filled with mud and debris. He excavated enough to clear both ends of the pipe. Pedro said someone else in his company could dig out one end of the pipe, set it in fresh gravel, and reconnect it, but I plan to get my handyman to do that. Pedro also traced where the other pipes ended, which I had thought was in the city storm sewer, but in fact was in the opposite direction in heavy vegetation that I now know to clear out occasionally. Pedro cleaned each pipe from both ends and tested to make sure they were clear (which I could see from the water gushing out of the end of each pipe). If you are thinking of getting a lower-cost plumber to clear drain/sewer lines, I suggest you research their methods and compare with Roto-Rooter’s hydrojet technology (which takes an entire trailer behind Pedro’s truck). I was impressed, and I have already recommended Pedro to a friend.

I recently relocated to Centerville, VA from Sumter, South Carolina. It was very difficult with two children as a single parent. As we are getting settled into my new place, my daughter noticed water in our basement. I went into total panic mode, not knowing anyone in the area, scared that I wouldn’t have money to cover the cost, the list goes on. I called two companies and immediately I knew they were not the plumbing company of choice. I called Roto-Rooter and immediately, the customer service rep ease my fears and calm me down and said six simple words “We will take care of it”! I heart rate slowed down and my comfort level increase in this company. A person name Victor Elian called and told me that he will be over in less than an hour. He showed up in 30 minutes along with two other reps from Roto-Rooter. They immediately identified the problem, corrected the problem and started cleaning. My daughters and I were headed out of town to visit relatives but delayed our trip and Roto-Rooters worked with our schedule, even meeting us at 7 am on Sunday morning to pick up their equipment. I highly recommend this company for any small or large job. It’s been proven that customer service is their number one priority, and they perform excellent work. Thank you Roto-Rooter for helping ease my first major plumbing experience seem like a breeze. Thank you!

We had a sewerage backup, called Roto Rooter about 9:30am, and a very personable and capable young man, James Slowikowski, arrived by 11:00. He gave us a price for snaking/clearing the line and said RR was having a "camera" special. (A camera is put on the snake and takes pictures of the inside of the sewer drainpipes--definitely worth doing.) The video showed a break in our cast iron pipe just outside the foundation wall, with some tree roots growing inside. James cleared the blockage and we were back in working condition. He gave us a price for RR to replace the broken pipe and called to get us a date to have the work done -- we were fortunate to have it done the next day. James made the experience as pain free as possible! The next day, bright and early (7:50am), Ronnie arrived with his backhoe in tow, followed shortly by Devon Houston. They got right to work moving the stones from our dry stack wall, then moving an azalea in the way of getting to the drain pipe, which was 9 ft. down. Devon, also a very personable and hard working young man, worked all day long, not leaving until the pipe was replaced, all the dirt was back in the hole, the azalea was back in place, the dirt was raked and grass seed and straw were put on the dirt -- around 7:00pm. We have nothing but praise for the way Devon took care of our problem.
