First of all this review is not intended to disparage MAACO of Portsmouth but let me share my experience with them. I brought my 11 year old Honda Civic to MAACO to have a repaint job. My intention is to sell or trade this car in but may keep it if the job is done well because the car has only 77,000 miles on it and I maintained this car very well. The right back quarter panel has a significant peeling of the clear coat and some other relatively minor scratches and chips all over. Chad suggested that since these defects are all over its better to just repaint the whole car to make it uniform which I totally agreed. He told me that they have an offer that would cost me less than $600 (paid $555) and that MAACO will warranty it for 3 years which got me excited. That was my understanding I agreed to have the car painted. I left the car on a Wednesday and got a call the following Monday that the car was done. It was raining when I picked up the car and did not have a chance to really scrutinize it. I noticed a small overspray on the right window rubber and I told Gerry about it and he told me to just use a sharpie to cover it which I thought was laughable. He also told me that I can leave the car one more day so they can fix it. I asked Gerry if I take the car that day, can I bring it back if I find defects in the job and he said "no problem." When I got home I dried the car and inspected it very well and noticed another overspray on the right taillight. I read that claying it would erase the overspray and it did. I went ahead and scrutinized the car and noticed a lot of "trash" in the paint on the hood. There were also fisheyes around the windshield washer nozzles and it appears that the nozzles were not removed when the hood was painted because I lifted it and there appears to be no paint under it. Anyway, I brought the car back and talked to Chad thinking they will make corrections but he told me that the paint job is not under warranty, which was not my understanding. I should have double checked the quote and should have seen that it states "no warranty" in it. Perhaps I just trusted him when he told me that it has 3 years warranty included. But anyway, lets say it was my fault that I did not double checked the quote or it was a plain misunderstanding but still they did not do a very good job in my opinion. Chad told me that it is normal to have those "trash" every where I go unless its a $5000 paint job. He also said that because the paint job that I paid for was cheap they cannot make corrections like wet sanding and buffing because of the quality of the paint that they used. I think it is plainly ridiculous. I told him that I am not questioning the quality of the paint but rather the quality of the job itself. And Chad telling me that it is normal to have trash in the paint wherever I go for a paint job is just absurd but I did not want to argue with him although he apologized for such result. I would have rated them 5 stars for making my old car looking like new and for getting the job done in time. But for not getting a quality result and for their reasoning, I will take 2 stars back. Again its not about the quality of the paint but the quality of the workmanship. Paying cheap should not mean getting a poor result. Just because I chose a cheaper price does not mean they will allow dust particles to settle on the surface and just paint over it and getting an explanation that it is a normal thing unless I paid for a $5000 paint job. Again this review is not meant to disparage MAACO. Im just sharing my experience hoping that others may learn from it. Personally I would not get another paint job from them again if the need arise but I would neither recommend nor discourage anyone to go there. Its up to you.

I highly recommend the MAACO in "Portsmouth! They have an excellent team for Body Repair and Paint. I was recommended to the Maaco in Portsmouth by many car enthusiast in our area. I attend many car shows in our area, and when I see a good paint job, I ask, where they had the work performed and many recommended this particular Maaco. Of course, I also was told of other paint shops, but they were highly over priced, like anywhere between $8000 - $12,000. Maaco (remember in "Portsmouth) painted my 1987 Chevy Silverado for a very reasonable price (I got the Platinum/Premium Package). I would like to give a BIG THANK YOU TO CHAD (Manager), JERRY (consulter and estimator), GREG (Body repair) & SCOTT (Paint), TERRANCE (Excellent Detailer). These were a few guys I had the opportunity to meet, Im sure I missed a few others that put their time into my truck. The truck won Best Truck at a Car show this weekend. FUN FUN :) Overall they did an excellent job and they are definitely there to please the customer. Give them a try, you will leave happy.

Outstanding work- exceeded all my expectations. I came in dreading the experience, but working with Thomas was a pleasure. He talked me through what would be fixed, where special attention would be paid, pricing options, paint options.. I was skeptical, but reassured when I walked through the shop and saw the attention to detail they paid on others vehicles. When I got my car back after just 5 days it was a brand new car. If anything comes up in the future, these are my go-to guys. EDIT: When I said 5 days, the entirety of my car was stripped of old paint, a large impact point in the front left of my car was repaired, lots of deformities on the back bumper were smoothed over, and just about all rust on the body was taken care of. Also, the entirety of the car was repainted expertly.

These guys are amazing! I bought an older Corvette which had been spray painted and looked awful. I took it to Maaco and Chad and the guys totally turned it around. Because of the chemicals in the spray paint when they originally tested it with their paint it had awful blistering but they sanded it down as far as the could (at no extra cost, I might add) until they were fairly certain that it wouldnt cause any issues. It ended up looking amazing! What I loved most is that they had updates for us every single step of the way and invited us out during each step to see progress/show us potential issues/etc. It was a really nice feeling knowing that they wanted us to be part of the process, rather than just doing whatever and charging us afterwards for it. Would highly recommend!

Portsmouth Maaco did beyond amazing on my car ! I am so very pleased with the quality of service and finished product. The staff was wonderful and addressed all of my concerns immediately relieving me of all my worries. They stayed in touch throughout the whole process and kept me very up to date on all repairs that were made. My expectations were blown out out of the water and I am so proud to tell people that I got my vehicle painted there. I get compliments daily on the overall look of my car and the attention to detail they put into it. I would recommend this specific Maaco to anyone looking for any repair or paint work needed on your vehicles. Thank you so much for giving my car a beautiful new skin and treating me with nothing but professional respect.
