I can’t say enough good things about Chad, the new owner of MFA. I had the clutch and rear main replaced in my older Subaru at MFA a little over a year ago. I was then transferred to DC, so I drove the car out there, put it in storage, and then drove it back to Portland. I’d only put ~7Kmiles on it. When I started driving it again, I noticed little pools of oil beneath it. A few oil change guys looked at it and said the rear main was leaking. I wasn’t happy. I called MFA only to learn that Bob retired and sold the shop to Chad. I talked to Chad about it and he said he would take a look if I brought it up. Well, before I could get it up there, the clutch went out. I had it towed to a local shop and they tore it down. The clutch disc had literally exploded, damaging the linkage, the fork, pressure plate and fly wheel. Upon further inspection, it turned out that the rear main wasn’t leaking – someone had failed to tighten a nut on the power steering line. Clips were missing, bolts were loose or missing. It really looked like shoddy workmanship. I called Chad again because I clearly couldn’t get the car towed to Monroe. What a nice guy. He didn’t have to do anything – the work had been done under Bob’s watch and Bob is gone – but he did. Chad offered to cover the cost of the replacement clutch, and when it became clear the fly wheel was damaged, he covered that too. I did end up having to pay labor, but in all, it worked out really well. Chad was very reasonable and helpful during the entire process. He was never rude or irritated, and never talked down to me as some mechanics do with women. I truly appreciate our interaction and would now recommend MFA to anyone. Everybody has a bad day, and shops can make mistakes - the true test is in their customer service, and Chad went above and beyond anything I expected. Thanks!

For 6 years, Monroe Foreign Auto Repair is the only place I trust my Toyota Camry to for any service or repair. The first time I took my 3 year "new" Camry to them for routine maintenance, when I went to pick it up, Bob took me aside and said, "I want to show you something". He then proceeds to bring out a disgusting, clogged, mold and mildew packed air filter, which turns out to be the Cabin Air Filter. I did not even know that my car had a Cabin Air Filter. What was more surprising, it was absolutely clear that it had never been changed! This was especially shocking since every service interval, had been performed by the Dealer. When I bought the car new from the Toyota Dealer in Kirkland, I prepaid for 3 years of service and faithfully had every single service completed there. Since then, Monroe Foreign Auto Repair is the only place I have my cars serviced. They keep my cars running like new and do all the work that needs to be performed at a fair price.

If I could rate this a 0, I would. I had Mike and his team install a pair of headlamps into my Subaru which costed over $200. Now, 9 months later, I take it into Marysville Subaru because one of my headlamps burnt out already. I had a weird feeling about it, so thats why I took it to the manufacturer. After a quick review, they said it was in fact a wire harness that had melted because the headlamp was too close which means the bulb itself was installed incorrectly. I called Mike to try and resolve this issue politely, but even after him trying to argue with me and speaking to a Subaru technician he still denied the fact it was his teams fault for a bad install. CRAZY! I opted from arguing and asked if he was going to pick up the tab or tell me to stick it and move on... Now I am responsible for a $130 wire harness and install. Is that amount of money worth losing a customer over and receiving multiple 1-star reviews? I dont, but he does apparently.

These guys are great. They do the work they say theyll do when they say theyll do it. I have even referred my boss to these folks and I definitely wouldnt do that if I didnt have complete faith in them (Id never hear the end of it). Once I had a repair that was covered by the manufacturer because it was part of a recall. I had no idea. They could have done the work and charged me for it and I would have never known. Instead, they researched it, found that it was covered by the manufacturer and told me I could get it done for free through the Isuzu dealership even though they knew it wasnt profitable for them to tell me so. They made all of the arrangements, talked to the Isuzu people for me and had my vehicle towed over for me. Their honesty and integrity perfectly compliment their mechanical expertise.

We really appreciate the work that Chad and his crew at Monroe Foreign Auto Repair did with our car. We had put off basic maintenance because wed been looking for a good diesel mechanic for my VW TDI for awhile. When my timing belt went last month my car sat for a week at the Green Car Company and they still hadnt even looked at it. This left me scrambling to get to work and when we let them know we needed our car repaired in a timely manner they were rude to us and told us it was in the way in their yard. I had Chad pick up the car and he had it in his shop that very day, and back to me very quickly - even with major engine repair necessary. We would definitely recommend his shop - for any kind of vehicle!

My husbands drives his Toyota Tacoma HARD. He needed a new clutch, repairs to his leaf springs, new shocks, new struts, oil change, new fluids in just about everything. Bob was great to work with - gave up honest quotes and didnt try to sell us on things we didnt need - in fact told my husband that the shocks he wanted werent as good and cost more money. They guarantee their repairs for 12 months/12,000 miles - so they put their money where their repairs are. My husband is a rabid fan now and we will fight HWY 2 from Everett to take our vehicles here from now one. cost was about $750 less than the dealership quoted and they completed all the repairs in 2 days.

I took my 2003 Toyota Rav4to Monroe Foreign Auto because the check engine light was on and I needed an oil change. After putting up my car the check light went out and they discovered the on board computer was dying. Bob made a phone call to the dealer and we got my car into dealer service. Without Bobs help I wouldnt have know about the extended warranty! I can not thank Bob and his team enough for all their help - and I was a first time customer! I will most definitely be back and I have already directed friends to this shop. Awesome work - keep it up!
