I have extremely curly/coarse/thick/long hair so basically a hairstylist’s worst nightmare. :) I booked an appt with Maria Espinoza about 3-4 years ago(?) and I have not seen a single stylist since. She is amazing at cuts AND color. I have had a hard time in the past finding a stylist that can handle this mane and she is above and beyond the best I have seen. Not only is she great at her job but I have an absolute blast at every appointment. She completely transformed my hair. When I first saw Maria at Phase 3 my hair was waaay too thick... The cut was not good for the amount of hair that I had. It would take me about 90 minutes to blow dry and straighten my hair. She went in and shaped my hair as well as cut out a bunch of unnecessary bulkiness. Literally took 30 minutes off of my “straightening” routine. Also going blonder tends to dry your hair out and seeing as I already had coarse hair I was worried about how my hair would look and of course, I walked out loving it. The next time I saw her I decided I wanted something different and she was all about it. I trust her judgment completely and know I will always walk out of that salon absolutely loving my hair. My friend recently took my advice and went and saw Maria. My friend’s hair is the complete opposite of mine… she has fine, thick, straight hair. She had a cut and color and she absolutely loved the results and went back again and I think she is hooked. SO no matter what type of hair you have Maria will make it look fabulous. I HIGHLY suggest going to see her. Also the salon in general is great. Everyone is so friendly and accommodating. It’s definitely a win win at Gary Manuel.

Walking into the Gary Manuel Studio you are always greeted by one of the front end staff. After offering a robe, they ask what beverage youd like. Ive never waited more than a minute until my stylist, Parker, comes to get me. Even if Im early, shes right there! Parker makes the whole experience wonderful! The environment is serene yet relaxed and calming yet stimulating. I have always left loving my hair. She does different colors that change with the seasons! I equally have always loved my hair cut/style. Parker is excellent at what she does while being great to talk to. I am always treated with kindness, respect and professionalism. I love the Aveda products that Gary Manuel offers. They are eco-friendly and the salon holds a number of fund raising events that support different humanitarian causes. In summary, the salon is wonderful, support staff professional and my personal stylist is the BEST!

Unlike other training salons (which offer a cheap price but inconsistant service and slummy atmosphere), Phase 3 is a professional salon with lovely staff, talented stylists, and wonderful Aveda products. Ive only seen one stylist at Phase 3, but when I look around the salon, everyones finished hair is pretty great. The stylists seem versatile, creative, friendly, and professional. Although Ive had some great times at Vain and Caruh, its never been consistant. I get something really fresh and unique every time I visit Phase 3, including colors Id never have trusted other stylists with. And Ive been lucky to "model" two class nights, which meant totally free color. Do I really need to say more? The only thing I hesitate over is that Phase 3 stylists will move to Gary Manuel, with $130+ for double-process foil color and $50-$160 (?!) for a cut.

Ive been seeing Michael at Gary Manuel Studio for nearly 2 years. I have long-mid length curly hair and it has always been challenging finding a stylist who not only cuts hair in a way that works with my curls, but listens to me and works with me to find a cut/color that compliments my features. Michael does all that and more. My fiance has thick hair and has been to many salons/barber shops in Seattle-Valentines, Rudys, Vain. Finally I was able to convince him to see Michael, and he said it was his best cut in years. Michael always takes the time to listen, find out what you want, and truly cares. Aside from my hair being healthier than its ever been (even after coloring!), Michael is honest, trustworthy, and one of the easiest people to talk to. Michael, me and my curls hope to see you for years and years to come.

I have been getting my hair cut by Collins for a few years and she is awesome! I have very coarse, thick, difficult-to-cut ethnic hair that usually intimidates or leaves other stylists clueless but Collins has done a great job since day one. She always takes the time to listen to my needs and look through all of the pictures I bring her for reference. She tells me what she thinks will work and then takes the time to explain what she will do. She is so patient and personable, I dont think Id ever want to get my hair cut from anyone else. She also teaches me new ways to style my hair and she also gave me tips on trimming my fringe/bangs at home. Also, the front desk staff are always very friendly. Collins and Gary Manuel are so awesome and Id recommend them to anyone!

My girlfriend and I, just got back from our first visit to Gary-Manuel. Lynsey was our stylist, and we have to give her and the establishment A pluss all around. She is amazingly knowledgeable, and talented. She did a brilliant job on one of the most difficult things to do in hairstyling on my girlfriend... Bring the life back to brown hair dyed jet black. And she gave an amazing cut and color with tons of attitude and style, while leaving it professional looking enough to wear to work. The front desk staff was also super, very polite offering delicious cucumber enhanced water and great coffee drinks. Outstanding establishment, and I would highly recommend Lynsey to ANYone who wants a true professional with unbelievable credentials to work on your hair.

About a year ago they completely ruined my hair! I had hair to my mid back and they ruined it to the point where I had to cut it to almost a bob. They offered me free color services for their mistake I went back to get one of my free color services and they screwed up yet again! about a year ago they completely ruined my hair! Maria Espinoza at Gary Manuel Salon is the greatest! Ive been seeing her for about 7 years and she is easily the best stylist Ive ever had (and Ive seen quite a few). Maria is one of those people whose talent with style, color, and cuts comes naturally. She loves what she does and it shows. Shes extremely creative and inspires me to get out of my comfort zone. I trust (and rely on) her judgment and Ive never left the salon unhappy with how I look and feel. As a bonus, the Gary Manuel Salon KNOWS how to do customer service. They take very good care of you - going to my appointment is always a treat (it is totally worth the trip to Belltown). Maria is easily one of the top stylists in Seattle (and beyond). She is that good.
