Be Careful. Please understand what you are asking for before you call. My 79 year old mother had a leaking outdoor faucet. She called and asked for someone to come out and fix the leak. Of course we know that being 22 miles out of town is going to require a fee for the travel. Joe arrived and replaced a rubber washer in the faucet and charged $351.33! For replacing a single rubber washer on an outside faucet. She asked if there was a discount for senior citizens and she was told "no". Joe then convinced her that he needed to check out the hot water heater and he told her it needed to be flush. So he flushed it and told her that would be $200 in cash. She refused to give him cash, so he asked her for a check made out to him and not the company, he also gave her his number to call directly instead of the company. About the water heater - he did flush it and try to sell her a new one. The 50 gallon one he was pushing was $1998.78! She turned down that offer but the next day the water heater started leaking and had to be replaced.. funny how that happened.. she got a new 40 gallon water heater for $370 at a local hardware store. All said and done, we feel that she was ripped off and taken advantage of in this case. Sorry Banks Quarles, you have not lived up to your reputation and we will not be dealing with you again.

Never use this company, they will try to take advantage of you! My AC stopped working a few days ago so I called Banks Quarles to come look at it, they told me how much it would cost to send someone out to diagnose the problem and I gave them the go ahead to send someone. Their technician figured out that my condenser had gone out and quoted me a pretty pricey figure to replace it, but I agreed to the price and paid him the down payment. The next morning, he calls me back and says that he messed the quote up yesterday and it is going to cost me $1700 more. I told him that was not ok and that I would like to have my down payment, minus the cost for him coming out, refunded back to me. He apologized for messing up and agreed to pay it back. Since I was at work, I had my wife go pick it up. They refused to give her all the money back. They charged us almost three times what I was told it would cost for them to diagnose my problem. When she told them that wasnt the right amount they were very rude to her, and even threatened to charge her more! On top of all this, the company that I found to replace them is charging us significantly less to fix it. What a rip off!

We were very pleased with the Plumbing service provided by Banks Quarles. This was our first time using them. Scott Stokes did a professional job for us. He installed 3 new toilets and attended to our other plumbing issues. Our whole experience from the beginning with us calling for an appointment until Scott finished the job was definitely a good one. Scott arrived dressed in a clean Banks Quarles uniform, with the picture sent us before his arrival, he was easily recognized. That was a great safety feature. He assessed our problem and gave us options to choose from ..... he presented the total bill before any work was started. We knew right from the start what it would cost. We were most impressed before Scott started working, he placed a mat at our front door and put on a pair of booties over his shoes so he would not soil my floors. He also placed a mat under his truck if it should drop any oil/ grease on our drive. Then he began to work, the quality of his work was superior. He was friendly and courteous. He was timely with finishing the job and left our home clean!!!! We highly recommend Banks Quarles and Scott Stokes for any plumbing service.

This review highlights two of Banks Quarles employees: Scott S. and Greg B. Most deserve five star ratings. Scott S. arrived at our home to help us out with some plumbing items we needed looked at. He had a wealth of experience and it showed right away as he looked at our problem areas. He was extremely helpful and completed his work very efficiently and in less time than what we expected. He helped us understand what he was doing, and was very enjoyable to meet as well. It was clear to us that he was being very thorough and really cared about doing the job to our satisfaction. Would certainly welcome him back again! All in all, another positive experience with the Banks Quarles organization, including the helpful dispatchers who posed timely calls about when to expect Scotts arrival. MOST RECENTLY: Greg B. came recently to conduct our a/c inspection. He is by far the most knowledgeable individual Ive ever met in this field. He checked everything out very thoroughly and helped us understand even more how best to operate our unit comfortably and efficiently. The man is in a league of his own!

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. I contacted Banks Quarles this morning about my A/C unit not working ... within a couple of hours, they had a technician (Nick) out at the house who was able to quickly diagnose and fix the problem. Nick was courteous, friendly, and efficient. He assessed the problem and explained everything to me. He presented me with my repair options, and made sure I was comfortable before he began the repair. His van was stocked with the necessary parts and equipment, which was nice. I am extremely pleased with the office staff, dispatch, and the technician. Note: I have a home warranty through American Home Shield that would have covered the needed repair to my A/C unit. I decided not to allow their technician (some company out of Birmingham with not-so-good reviews that couldnt check out the problem until tomorrow) to fix the problem because I knew the service I was receiving from the people at Banks Quarles could not be matched.

I was very impressed with the professionalism of everyone I talked to on the phone. They were polite and very helpful. Carl, my repairman, was one of the best I have every had. He was thorough, new very well what he was doing, up front and honest with me and I felt I was in good hands with him. However, being ignorant at the time to what my part should cost, I said yes to what I thought seemed to be an excessive price for my part which was a capacitor. I paid $351 for it, which included labor, but was still on top of the service call payment. When a friend suggested I look up that part on the web, I found I could buy that part for $25. Which means they charged me around $300 labor to screw in a new capacitor. This price was a deal breaker for me. I am sorry to say I can not recommend this company solely on the excessive pricing.

Abysmal, unethical, immoral - the adjectives for just how bad Banks Quarles are could go on and on. Banks Quarles "fixed" my AC problem - leaking freon - only to have to return after one month because it stopped working again. I was told that I needed a completely new AC unit and new coils. They said it would cost me a minimum of about $8,000, but it would be better to go with the $10,000 dollar option and replace everything. That sounded a little pricey, so I contacted another company - A Better Service Company. They came out to my house, told me I had a coil (that was still under warranty) and replaced it. They charged me absolutely nothing! And my AC has worked fine ever since. Banks Quarles should be reported to the Better Business Bureau. They are either entirely unethical or completely incompetent.
