I have used this C&R shop in the past and have had good results. This last visit the other day surprised me. Im sure they will correct their miscommunication error. My wife dropped her vehicle off to get 2 new tires and an oil change. She came home and rather than put the same Bridgestone tires on to match the 4 that were on the vehicle, they installed a pair of "no name" tires. Usually these off brand tires are manufactured in China or Mexico and do not have nearly the same ride and comfort quality that a name brand American made tire provides. They put a couple tires on my sons car last year and on that visit they DID call me to inform me that the brand of Goodyear tires that were currently no the vehicle were out of stock at that time and it would take a few days to order them. The caller then offered an option to save some $$ and put different tires rather than wait. I gave the "ok" so I knew what I was getting. The only call my wife received was to ask if she wanted 40000 mile tires or 70000 tires. When she was told that the 70k tires cost more she said the 40k were ok. That was the time she should have been asked if she wanted all the tires to match, (Bridgestone) or would she be ok with an off brand make. To make matters worse, we were charged what I would have paid elsewhere for the Bridgestone thru my contact. I left them a msg this morning that I would park the car this weekend and drop it off on Monday so they could put the Bridgestones on that we paid for. I am anxiously awaiting my return call and will update this case after we talk in a couple days.

Im revising my previous review. I wrote a review upon receipt of my truck. Since then I had a moment to look more closely. I did the service there (Rotate and balance) on my truck in preparation for a trip towing a heavy trailer. What I found... First, I got the truck home and found the rear disc pads almost down to metal, something they should have spotted immediately. I didnt have time for this and had they noticed, they could have gotten a brake job out of it. Lost business for them. Second, I had to do the brake job myself, which like I said, I didnt have time for. Upon trying to remove the tires to do the brakes I found they had used an Impact to "torque" the lug nuts. I had to use a 30" cheater pipe on a breaker bar to even get the nuts busted loose. Had I had a flat on the road, I would have never had the tools to do this and this would have left me stranded until I could get a tow truck out, let alone the expense of that on a holiday weekend. Fortunately, Im a competent mechanic and can fix this all myself. I did call the store and let them know they need to train their mechanics. They offered on Monday to do the brakes and torque the lug nuts properly, which I had to do myself for my trip, but why not do it right the first time? Lost a customer with 4 vehicles.

This place is a joke. If you are looking for a place where you can trust the mechanics to be truthful and honest this is not the place you want. If youre ok with greedy mechanics and owners who ONLY care about getting money out of you then this fits. Called to get a faulty part replaced (covered under 2 year warranty), they told us to bring it in. Yet failed to include that since ownership of the vehicle had changed the warranty was void. We told them that at the beginning of the call and they said nothing other than to bring it in and theyll get that done. Then while Im talking to them about how we cant afford to tow a car over 20 miles and pay for labor just to get a part replaced THATS when he informed me the warranty was void. So I told him "Oh then I guess we have no need to worry about getting the car to them or a need to do business with them and they could have told us that in the beginning." But then they wouldnt have been able to get money out of us. Will never do business with these guys. Afterall, same company that fixed an airbox with no more than ordinary duct tape, but charged an elderly lady plenty of money to "fix-it"

I recently took my 90 VW Vanagon in for diagnosis of a loud "pinging" noise in the engine that was very concerning. Having had a few of these vehicles I dont feel comfortable trusting just anyone to work on them, but knew I needed to get it looked at ASAP. I chose C&R Automotive as they were literally right across from my sons school and I didnt have the luxury of driving my van around looking for a VW Centric shop. Once I talked to Seth and team at the front desk I knew that I was going to be taken care of. Not only were they correct and timely with the diagnosis of the issue, They charged me appropriately for the work done. My Van has never driven better and I am truly happy that I decided to stop in that day. I would not hesitate to refer anyone to the C&R Automotive team on Raintree Dr. as I feel they are trustworthy, knowledgeable and timely in the work they perform. These guys have a customer for life with both my vehicles! Sincerely, John Callaway

I always have used the C&R on Cave Creek and love their service, but its such a long drive for me coming from the east valley. I thought id give the raintree location a try instead. I type this as i sit in the parking lot after walking out due to extreamly rude staff. I made a appointment last week for a alignment and when i show up today i get told "sorry were full it will be 3 hours before we can even look at it". Meanwhile im standing in a empty waiting room and there are only 3 other cars outside other than mine. I questioned why i had to make a appointment then, and i get a snide comment about how i dont work in this buisness and dont know whats going on. I mentioned thats poor buisness and that the other location gets me in and out immediately everytime. I then get another rude comeback of "well go to them" and "to bad". This is not how to do buisness. Take my advice. Avoid this location and drive the extra 10 miles to the Cave Creek Rd location.

These guys are a joke. Theyll talk down to you if you know what youre talking about, and try to make you sound stupid so that they can make an extra buck off of you. I needed a DRL replace, and they quoted me at 300 bucks!! (cause they "had" to remove the front fender and a few other things to get to the light). I took it to jiffy lube, the guy told me how to replace the light without doing anything else. Super easy, and free. Also needed a radiator flush, and was basically told it was 200 bucks to do that and replace the thermostat (something I could have done if I had the proper equipment). I was basically told that I was stupid because I asked why it was 100 bucks to replace the thermostat itself, when it looked simple enough. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place.
