I found out my alternator was bad on a friday night, so after buying a new alternator and working on my car for half an hour I found that the alternator bolt was in backwards and the engine needed to be dropped in order to remove the alternator. I had no access to a lift over the weekend so I figured Id take it to sun devil auto out of convenience..That was a huge mistake. After sitting in the waiting room for 2 hrs listening to the shop manager selling parts that people didnt need...(seriously, a woman came in with squeaky brakes on her 2006 honda accord and he told her she needed the whole brake assembly replaced to the tune of $1800. He was a good salesman and scared her into agreeing to it)...Well, the shop mgr came out with my estimate....$800... $600 for the alternator, and $200 in labor. Um, No. I bought an alternator the night before for $200 with a 2year warranty. Also the time to replace an alternator is about an hour, at least on my car because its a little bit hard to get to. Now this is before I informed them that the alternator bolt was in backwards. The shop manager seemed really irritated with me when I questioned him about the parts and labor cost. He was speechless and did the standard" let me go check with the mechanic" and disappeared back into the shop. 30 min later he came back in and told me that I was correct, the bolt was in backwards and the labor charge would now be $600 but the part quote could be lowered to $300. LOL. I told him no, $600 in labor was a joke. I waited another 20 min for them to release my car and then went and bought some jackstands and began the repair myself only to find that when I got to the alternator, Sundevil auto had cut the wire harness just above the alternator connection clip. They cut my fing wires!! The fact that they did that blew me away....I will never trust another mechanic again.... BTW by the time I finished replacing the alternator and the splicing in a new clip It took a total of 3 hrs. to finish by myself with jackstands..... sundevil auto is a dishonest repair shop.Even if you dont need a repair and just take it in for service they will probably manufacture a problem for you. Thank god I know how fix my own vehicles.

I have been taking all my vehicles to Sun Devil for years, they are the ONLY HONEST Automotive Repair Shop I have ever found. Not only do they repair what is asked of them, but they also explain clearly other recommendations necessary for preventative maintenance which is needed for all vehicles or other important systems or component of the vehicle may-will-could FAIL. Most people do not understand the importance of preventative maintenance, most wait until failure occurs then take their vehicle in for repairs which could lead to very expensive repairs related to deferred maintenance. Let me provide an example. If you dont have your home air conditioning system Serviced Yearly, expect premature failure, like everything you own, regular maintenance is necessary which operates on a fuel or electrical energy source. If regular Service is not done, expect Failure. Sun Devil tries their very best to help you understand normal maintenance is necessary, they are not trying to take advantage of anyone, their simply explaining what most people dont know. Please pay close attention to what they recommend, it will be to your advantage. Dale, Scottsdale, AZ.

I first took my car to this Sun Devil Auto because they agreed to fix a botched repair done at the Sun Devil located on Ray road in Ahwatukee. I continued to return to this location, as I felt they were trustworthy. However, every time I seem to take my car here, something else broke. When they repaired the botched job, they stated my brakes needed to be replaced. They seemed fine before, but I didnt want to take the risk. Then, they changed my oil and found an engine belt that was in "dire" need of being replaced. Again, I didnt want to risk anything and purchased the new belt. A short while later, the belt flew off, broke two pulleys, and disconnected my air conditioner pump. They fixed the belt for free, but made me pay for the pulleys and claimed to have tested the air conditioning. However, it didnt work when I got in my car. They reexamined my car and said I needed to pay and additional 500 dollars for another repair. I have since taken my car elsewhere and I strong suggest you do the same.

Got a checkup at sundevil auto today. Had an expectation of about 200$ bill. Got a call with a 700$ quote to get spark plugs fixed, coil housing, oils change and new breaks. Told them to put the car back together. I'll fix it myself. Tried to hard sell me and told me it was to unsafe to drive. Got home from napa with a 150$ bill. Poped the hood. The radiator cap wasnt even screwed on. The transmission dipstick was half out. Got down to the coil housing and there was a missing bolt. Put new spark plugs In and the coil housing in within 45 minutes. Spent another 15minutes fixing the radiator becuse I drove it without the cap on an all the fluid went out. Also another 10 minutes cleaning the transmision fluid around the motor. The car drove beautifully. Seems like they tried to take advantage of me because I'm only 16 years old. Note: the 150$ didn't include new brakes or an oil change.

My car wouldnt start and had to get it jump started after work, I decided to stop by to see how much they would charge me for a new battery. After testing the battery first John/the store manager verified that it did need to be replaced and gave me a quote without tax and a 24 month warranty. I called a different company since I had a $15 off coupon (but they were a lot farther away) and they quoted me about $10 more...even with the coupon. By the time they got my information in the computer and I signed the paperwork, they were already finished swapping out the battery and they even gave me a discount so that the grand total with tax was what they quoted me earlier without the tax and a 24 month warranty. John was very nice and friendly, and they were fast

I have taken my car to Sun Devil now for a couple of years now and am very happy with the service, professionalism, and courtesy of the shop at Frank Lloyd Wright and Northsight Blvd in Scottsdale. I take it in for regular tune ups and whenever something just doesnt feel or sound right. I drive a 2001 Toyota 4Runner and regular maintenance has always been most important. Steve, the manager, always tells me what I need to do right away and what can wait for awhile. Car runs great and I have no complaints. Price is always fair and I do not feel taken advantage of in any way. Thanks guys.

Took my car in for the first time yesterday and had a great experience. Convenient, and they offered a free shuttle to and from my office. Worked with Jacob who was very professional and took the time to explain everything to me and helped prioritize service that needed to be done now, versus what could wait. He also found a discount and applied it to the repair to save me money. I am very satisfied with the work that was done, and will definitely use them again in the future.
