I have been going to Tempe Auto Repair for a few years now. Id like to preface this by saying that my parents own a car shop and i worked in it doing oil changes and simple mechanic work for years. I trust Tempe Auto Repair. They have entertained all my questions and i usually learn something new every time i go there. Today i got an oil change and had a few things looked at. When i called to see that i was done, it was. Also Jim told me that they changed my air filter and it was only $10. I was skeptical because usually air filters cost a bit more ($20-$30) so i asked why they only charged me $10. (Also i was reading some google reviews, im going to leave one on google as well) They told me my truck was old and that prices drop. They were just passing the savings down to thw customer. Still skeptical i checked it in the parking lot and lo and behold there was a brand new white as snow air filter. Also the oil level was correct and i trust that everything else i asked them checked was in fact checked. I had them check my rear brakes, transfer case, and rear differential. They said all was good and they checked it free of charge. After reading some more of these reviews i feel obligated to share another experience (different vehicle). I got a quote for a timing belt and water pump, which is no easy job. It cost quite a bit (~$850). But hey, i had an old truck thats what it takes to keep her running well. Anyway, I called my parents and had them price out the same job. They were actually cheaper than my parents. And they did a great job replacing those parts when i got the monet together to get it done. Again, they were honest, experienced, friendly, and well priced. Again this was a pretty involved job. I recommend the guys at Tempe Auto Repair and i am most definitely going to keep coming back. Thank you Tempe Auto Repair.

If I could give 0/5 stars I would. I found out about this shop from a coworker for my mothers car. She needed an oil change and had a squeeky fan belt. When she left she had an over $900 bill. They kindly drove her home, and picked her up. The driver who picked her up hit on her, discussed his $125 a week studio apartment, and asked for her phone number and he would pick her up later for drinks. Scary enough, this man now knows where she lives. When she left, her check engine light came on. And all they did was reset it. It came back on several hours later. When she got home I checked her oil, it was black. It had not been changed. I started the car, turned the ac on, and long behold! The fan belt was not fixed either. Never trust this shop, or the people who use you for the money. A poor older woman has now been ripped off, and still has a broken car.

My coolant was boiling over. Went in asked for a pressure test. They did not perform that, instead, without my permission did a block test. Told me I needed a new engine but will find me a used one. I was so confused BC my engine was running fine. Calling back n forth before I agreed to anything, the also said my water pump and head gasket also were bad. I had a feeling it was just my water pump. After they spewed out many lies, I felt it was my water pump and told them i will take it to some one else. I did. Guess what...water pump, radiator cap and hoses were my issue. The new place did a block test 2ce. My engine was FINE...in working order. I am a female and I look young. But I DO know my jeep and do not appreciate being lied to and manipulated. I was shocked they did this to me. Sad. Basically trying to steal 3k from me.

First, they would not give their prices over the phone and said I needed to bring it in to get a quote. Then I get there and he said it would be 90 dollars to do a diagnostic, so I said just do the oil change. There oil change is a little pricey and then he put the car on the lift and said it was leaking coolant and I need a parts changed right then. he took it apart and charge 200 dollars to change it. The whole time he spoke in a rude and condescending voice. Afterwards I drove it three miles, it stalled in an intersection, I nearly got hit by a car. I was already going to another place to get new tires, they also did auto repair, they saw the receipt that this place gave me and laughed. The new placed was so mcuh nicer, honest, and this place is not. Do not go here.

I was extremely pleased with the honesty and customer service I received here. I am going to begin bringing both my wife and Is vehicles here for any repair. I went in needing a freon recharge, which they performed in less than 15 minutes. He told me I had a leak, explained that it would be cheaper to just recharge it and see how long it lasts (while not speaking to me like I was an idiot as many places would do), instead of fixing the leak. He then said if the charge did not last, bring it back, they would fix the leak and not even charge me for the initial service. Dont see that kind of customer service any more. Whats more, the freon recharge was right at 70 bucks total, which seems extremely reasonable compared to most prices I have been quoted in Phoenix.

This is a great auto shop, I love these guys. I am a busy professional woman who doesnt have time to dink around. They treated me with the utmost respect, was very up front about everything, charged reasonable prices and took great care of my car. I brought a car for them for a pre-inspection and do a possible tuneup, and they noted it was in good shape and didnt even charge me to look at it. This was AFTER I had brought my previous car in and they tactfully told me it wasnt worth repairing and they didnt charge me for that, either. I hesitate to write this review because I dont want to wait longer for service next time when word gets out!

We were looking for an auto repair shop, I googled and found this one that was close by, reading the reviews if sounded great. We took the car there for an eval on the a/c as it wasnt cooling well. The results: total system contaminated and needed replaced. $1250.00 We chose to drive it a while longer as it was cooling somewhat. Coming home from a road trip yesterday the a/c completely stopped cooling. We decided to get a 2nd opinion on repairs at Red Devil. Their assessment: a hose was faulty and the freon was leaking out. Recommended replacement of hose and freon. $414.17 We chose to go with Sun Devil. We now have a very COOL car.

I was very impressed with Tempe Auto Repair for quite a while, and I relied on them to service a number of vehicles. Their prices were reasonable, and they seemed quite trustworthy. Then, when I brought in a vehicle with failing struts and rear brake pads that needed replacing, a mechanic tried convincing me that the sound emanating from the rear brakes could only be fixed by doing a $1100 strut replacement. I knew better than that, and took my vehicle to another shop for a brake job. Ive never gone back since, as even a little bit of dishonesty (or incompetence, whichever it may be) is too much from a car repair shop.
