Ownership has recently changed and so has the service ! The manager told me Elton and Claire Carlomagno sold the shop a month ago.I brought my Dodge Diesel pickup in for a smog test and it failed for monitors not being set so after the 3rd attempt my monitors were set but the mechanic working on it set a check engine light by plugging in his computer to check things so it failed again. At this point I wanted to talk to the owner ! The manager told me the new owner Amir has less than 6 months knowledge in the automotive industry so I was better off talking to him ! I also found out the shop is no longer Smog Star Certified which means they cant even smog half the cars out there. I also wanted to change my oil on my wifes car with good oil like Castrol but they dont sell good oil ! They use cheap oil and filters like you can buy at Walmart or Jiffy lube ! Good luck people paying higher prices at this shop thinking your getting quality parts and service ! I just wanted to let the community know what some of the changes that are going on over there ! I just found out a week ago that the 10 year veteran Manager is leaving this shop aswell ! So looks like the new owners will be rebuilding their staff ! Wow now im looking for a new shop to service all my cars ! Just wanted to let the great Folsom community know about the updates on this place ! Good luck and best of wishes if your a customer at Folsom Car Care !

My daughter lives in Folsom and we were visiting her family when we got a strong coolant smell in our 2000 Ford Expedition, but only when we accelerated fairly strongly (which we only do when traffic requires it). My son-in-law had taken his car to this outfit for some routine maintenance and seemed satisfied so I thought I would give them a try. First of all they spent almost a full day before even looking at the problem then after another full day they said they had pressure tested the cooling system and found the leak in the upper radiator hose and recommended strongly that I also replace the lower hose and the thermostat (because all were original to the car). I agreed and they changed me $430 for this work. Of course, once I returned home, I had occasion to accelerate again and, guess what, the issue was not fixed at all. I took it to another shop at here and after a prompt pressure test they told (and showed me) that the issue was a leaking heater core which ended up dripping coolant into the passenger compartment (hence the strong smell inside). On the basis of my experience, I cannot recommend this shop and would encourage you to look elsewhere for your car care needs (perhaps excepting routing maintenance items).

This place is a total rip off. I went there because my car was broken in the morning. AAA guy said it looks like the timing belt so I asked him to take me there. It is right in front of Toyota and I went there thinking they might be cheaper than dealership. Big mistake. first the guy would not give me price so I had to leave the car there. Then he called late in the morning and for fixing a timing belt which you can get for around 300 in most of the places (Toyota dealer charges 400+Tax), he charged me 835 !!!!!! that too with discount ($%^#). The big explanation being that he will not do the timing belt change without water pump because they are close by and then charging me full labor for changing pump also. Their prices are outrageous. Better to go to Toyota dealer. You will save money and will have peace of mind. I was out of luck because I could not take the car to other place but do yourself a favor and compare prices before going there.

My VW had 3 problems when I took it to this shop for a few visits: oil leak, hood protection cover was loose (underneath car, I didnt know at first), and strange rumbling/pulsing of engine. 1) They fixed the oil leak. 2) They suggested ripping the cover out (thats a solution?). They "fixed" the cover at the end, but a couple weeks later I had a VW specialty shop look at it and they told me the cover was put on incorrectly and using the wrong sized parts. 3) Throughout my multiple visits to this place, they kept insisting the strange noise was due to the secondary injection pump, though they werent sure at first. The VW specialty shop later told me it was really the spark plug and coils that were causing the problems and that shop fixed it. Folsom Car Care fixed 1 of my 3 issues, you can decide for yourself on their expertise.

WOW, GREAT, A-1, THE BEST, FIRST CLASS, WINNER.....This by far is the best shop off HWY 50 in Folsom. I come from Cameron Park with all our cars... Elton the owner is a PRO. Customer satisfaction is his #1 priority. I feel GREAT when paying for repairs at his shop. I want my cars repaired right, and at a fair price with honesty, Folsom Car Care Center delivers every time. Take the worry out of car repair, and try them out, youll be coming back every time, Ive been coming for 6 years and have always left feeling I got a great deal. We are fortunate to have a car repair shop in our area that is honest, dependable and offers the quality services to keep your vehicle running. Thanks Elton and crew… See you in 2012

Great service like you find at Folsom Car Care Center has to be recognized. I would highly recommend this business. Elton & Claire Carlomagno are owners who value good customer service, and I am a raving fan of the shop director Victor Balcita. My first interaction was about 3 years ago, and quite frankly an accident. I was desperate and popped in for help. Great service kept me coming back - a smog, a funny rattle, a visor replacement, each time "WOW-d" more than the last time. Prices are fair, advice is giving freely, and you can not ask for better service. I am referring everyone I know to bring their business here! ~ Kathleen in Folsom

Let me tell you first that I am not an avid review writer, In fact this is the first time I am writing review for anybody out of my work place. I must say, guys at Folsom Car Care Center are just awesome! They take really great care of your car. Accurate estimate and fast response. On top of that, on the day of my drive test at DMV, I realized that my cars rear indicator bulb was fused. I called them and they immediately fixed it and guess what it was for FREE! I always had great experience with them and would strongly recommend them to everyone.

I paid for an estimate at the local Dodge dealer, and all I got was a price and "you need to replace the engine." Folsom car care explained to me in detail what was wrong with my truck, and gave me several options (including their recommendation to replace the engine) to address the issues, which built trust in them. They helped me arrange financing for the repair. Best shop Ive been to in the last 40 years.
