I moved a 4BR/3BA home from L.A. to Oakland in 2008 using FlatRate. They were superb. I am now fortunate enough to be moving back (to the same house) from Oakland to L.A. and am using them again. They were far more competitively priced than the competition, and the entire staff--from Rick Tobin the sales rep to Eron and Sony at the Oakland office--are really a delight, very professional, and highly organized. My one caveat to anyone using them is to make sure your move foreman understands that your items are to be packed properly if you are having them pack anything at all. On the first move, some items needed to be packed by them and they actually adhered some packing tape directly to our furniture--which resulted in the glue either ripping some paint off or just gumming up the furniture. They were very apologetic about it, and actually lowered our price on the second move because of it. They also made sure to do everything with kit gloves, and all went fabulously. Were talking about $100k worth of possessions in our home, and what could have been a very stressful move was fairly pain-free with Flat Rate...and again, much less expensive than the competition. Couldnt recommend them highly enough. A great, well-run company.

Flat rate moving is absolutely amazing. Ive used them twice (my move from Orange County to San Francisco and then most recently my move from San Francisco to Los Angeles). The customer service is amazing and theyre really awesome during the entiring moving process. I lived on a particularly tough moving spot in San Francisco because there are one way streets and the cable cars right outside my door, but FlatRate Moving made it work. They were able to pack and load up the truck with all my stuff within 40 minutes (which is impressive considering the circumstances of not being able to park in one spot for more than a few minutes). Im extremely impressed with FlatRate Moving and would recommend them to anyone I know. They do a very thorough inventory check when they pick up your stuff and deliver. Their pricing is reasonable and even though its still not exactly the cheapest thing in the world to hire movers, this is 100% worth it. Time is money and FlatRate Moving is extremely efficient. Definitely go with these guys if youre going to hire movers!

Moving Disaster! This mover broke my granite table, several vases and scratched my old antique furniture which is irreplaceable! To make things worse it took them almost 21 days to deliver my belongings after my pick up in Dallas. Ridiculous since I only had 2 rooms of furniture!! Later I found out my items were unloaded and stored in 2 different storage units until they made the final trip to Florida! Lots of chances for things to get broken or come up missing! Customer service did nothing for me when I explained several of my items were broken. The sales guy actually tried to bill me an extra $500.00 more after I forgot to mention a vase and 2 computer stands...seriously!!?? The manager told me its a wash since my items were broke and I was unaware of the 21 day delivery!! Terrible company! Negative customer service and misleading sales department. Do not trust this company with your valuables!

I dont normally leave reviews, but I had such a good experience with Flat Rate that I had to write a review. I wholeheartedly recommend Flat Rate Moving & Storage to anyone in need of moving services. After speaking with a few different moving companies, I decided to go with Flat Rate because of their competitive pricing and their excellent reviews by past customers. The move went smoothly, and a lot quicker than I expected. It was a very pleasant experience. Everyone I dealt with at Flat Rate were very friendly, down to earth, and helpful.

I moved with FlatRate and all my friends recommended them. Sadly, when my stuff was delivered almost everything was broken. It took them months to resolve the claim and I received less than $300 to compensate me for all the damages. One piece of furniture was being held together by packing tape. it was an awful experience. if you use them, make sure you get insurance because if you dont they will never reimburse you for the damages. They send you whatever they determine is the value of your loss and then wont return your calls.

very jealous of the good customer service others speak of... The movers broke the elevator in my building. They were hard workers, apologetic and it was an accident but customer service and the claims process has been HORRENDOUS. They acknowledge the movers broke the elevator but refuse to budge on covering the mechanics bill to fix it. These guys seem to be good if you get the elusive "perfect" move. Otherwise youre screwed. Would recommend you look elsewhere.
