So far, so good for internet. (Didnt subscribe to cable programming, so this just pertains to HSI) I must say Im impressed with the install at least. My cable tap in the street box was so old, the installer said he "never saw one like this". Thats because I got the cable installed many years ago when they dug up the street and offered free installation. Since I had a big 10 satellite dish, I discontinued it when the free trial ran out, and forgot about it. Years later, they disconnected the main cable down the street when they upgraded, since I wasnt a subscriber. I thought it would take a few days to get a signal to my box. So much for high speed internet over the weekend. However, next day, Saturday morning mind you, my doorbell rang and two big trucks were out front. They fixed the cable and installed a new tap in a couple hours. BUT the installer still had to come out and hook up the modem. Oh well, no internet .... until the underground cable guys called in and got the installer to come over right away.... 30 minutes later, I had internet on SATURDAY! Since then, I bought my own Motorola SB6121 modem from Amazon for $80 and save the $7/month modem lease. Im sure Ill be sticking with Charter for a while as long as the service holds up. Speaking of which, a couple days ago the internet went dead. Was on the line on hold for 20 min due to lots of calls. The problem was a major power failure in a large part of So. Cal, so I guess the main fiber backbone went down. It was all over the TV news channels. Not Charters fault. (OK, maybe they should have redundancy) Since then, my service call to switch modems was quick, maybe two minutes on hold. Concerning speed, Ive been getting around 20MBS consistently. Surprised it doesnt slow down during heavy traffic hours. Now I can stream 1 Netflix and 2 Amazon Prime movies at the same time, and the internet still runs way faster than my old 1.5MBS DSL. Im very satisfied with Charter so far, especially since the introductory offer of $19.99/month for a year (online offer only) is less than the $30 I was paying for DSL! I was waiting for FIOS, but now, with 20MBS, who needs it!

I am appalled at the fact that the Charter store located at 10768 East Foothill Boulevard #170, Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91730, on the evening of Jan 28, 2015 there were 2 incompetent employees that had the worst customer service I have ever encountered. I was instructed by charter tech support to go in and swap out my router for an upgraded model that was compatible with my speed. This employee not only gave me the same router, she made it a fact that they have never carried the new model and when I asked if she could check surrounding charter stores in southern California she said she has worked at ALL the charter stores and knew for a fact that no one carried them. She couldnt bother to make one simple call. At least for customer service sake! When I called customer service after my encounter with this lazy employee, they asked me to go back in and ask her to call. (I was outside the store). The tech said they should have had the router. They have been carrying it for over a year. I get home and try to install the router provided by the very rude CSR at the charter store and happens to be that this router is defective because its not working. That just made me even more upset because that incompetent employee at the store gave me a used defective router. So after calling tech services for the 6th time within the last 4hrs, the last tech just went ahead and ordered one for me directly from the warehouse and now y have to wait untill saturday to have my wifi up and running. Im very disapointed with that charter store and their employees.

Charter is by far the worst service that I have ever had. If you are thinking on switching to Charter from whatever you have, trust me, Charter is worse. I have so many intermittency issues and all I get is a recorded help menu that refuses to put me to a live person. I am so tired of this service being interrupted and not working correctly. Charter knows that they are the only thing available in the area which is why they dont care to help their customers with a resolution. I tried going to the local Rancho Cucamonga store, and the female that was sitting behind the desk has no clue and is very rude to all customers not just me. I have changed my modem and router and still have the latency and interruption issues. Charter just says, "It must be an outage in your area" but provides no way of fixing or even cares to fix it. They are just money hungry and offer great services for a price, but dont provide those services.

They only get a 2 because my internet with them worked most of the time and at the expected speed, after that its all down hill. What really sucks if your like me and in Rancho Cuc. you dont have another choice for internet, and only dishes for TV. I thought monopolys were illegal? The equipment is literally from 1999, the TV box has settings in it to transfer to VCR!!! The quality of HD is 1 other bright spot, very good quality, but it doesn;t matter when your dealing with such old not only hardware but OMG the software was bad for 1999. DVR recordings dont group, just 1 by 1 on hard drive, cant search tv listings at all! Heard about some new show from a bud but only know the name? Good luck! Start searching manually lol. Dealing with the people for me hasnt been that bad, but still a terrible product and way overpriced for how bad 90% of it is. So happy Im moving to FIOS area, PEACE OUT!

I have never been so disappointed with a service as I have with this. I am starting to consider putting a dish on my home and it is ALL because of customer service. I waited for THREE HOURS today for a Tech to come out to look at why I am only getting 18 mbps when I PAY FOR 60 and this has been going on for weeks on end. Between 1 and 3pm I am told. Tech truck shows up, goes next door and we were about to go see him but he was there for a bit so we assumed it was a legit call. Low and behold nobody shows, I call Charter, get someone who barely speaks English and I am in the BPO space to be told he was here. He went to a pink house. I live in Southern California. THEY ARE ALL pink houses. Then I spend 23:30 minutes on with her only to be cut off. I am outraged.

I went into this office because our internet was down the entire weekend. After speaking to numerous customer service technicians they advised that I had to go into this office to replace charters non working modem. I went into this location and when my turn was up to speak with a customer service representative I was told that their system was down because they couldnt help me to come back. She had no time frame as to when they would be back up to help. I asked for a number where I could call to check if their system was back up - she said they had no direct number the public could call on. WORSE SERVICE EVER!!! Go with Dish Network!!!
