Really not that bad. Just make sure not to go there when its busy. It works with a credit card, but you will be charged $20. There is a big sign over the card slot explaining that. So my tip: Get some rolls of quarters. Gives you more control over the machine and your money because it will simply stop spraying when you ran out of time. The reason they dont want you to rubb your car inside the booth is very simple: Its a drive through and the place is not that big. Just take a look at Streetview. You drive in from the front, you leave from the back. So when its crowded the line easily goes into University Ave. So its simple: If youre done with spraying, just move your car a few feet to the parking spots to continue detailing. Worst case would be standing on the street next to the facility. Im not a intensive car washer, so it works perfect for me. Soap, brush, rinse, done. I dont give it five stars because its not a "nice" place, but its clean and functional. All the hassle is coming from the people using it. There is a sign not to block the entrance. People are blocking the entrance. Sign says you will be charged $20 when using your card. People complaining about getting charged $20. Dont dry your car in the booth. People are drying their cars in the booth (while others wait). Sign says no loud music. People listen to loud music. Thats the story.

TO ALL THE IDIOTS POSTING NEGATIVE REVIEWS ABOUT THE $20 CHARGE ON YOUR CREDIT CARD: READ THE DAMN SIGNS TELLING YOU TO PRESS "STOP" WHEN DONE USING THE WASH!! Apparently, you cannot read the signs because your face is buried in your damn iPhones writing negative reviews and texting your friends about how "bad" this place is... This car wash is a very good car wash, and with the addition of accepting credit cards it makes it very easy to get in and get out without having to search for quarters before going. The equipment is all newer and pretty good, does a good job washing the cars. I give it a 4 star review only because the occasional management "issues" where they try to chase certain people away for trying to bucket wash (which is usually true, but sometimes they are mistaken and they dont like to give in to their mistakes)...also the 4 star is because the wash is extremely small in space and on busy days it can seriously cause traffic jams on University. Get their early or during working hours in the week for the best chance. Otherwise, this is a VERY good car wash that DOES NOT OVERCHARGE for Credit Card Usage (if you read the damn signs). And to top it off, it is one of the ONLY self serve car washes around, which is something that I love doing (stress relief)!!

I have been a customer of this self car wash for over 10 years. I was spray washing my car for 5 minutes and was taking a few minutes to scrub a few spots before putting more money in to spray rinse when the manager comes over chases me off, pointing at signs that say "No bucket washing" and "No towel Drying". I finished washing my car and confronted the manager about his rude and unfair treatment and he says "I dont care how long you were washing...blah blah..." ,trying to defend himself. I really dont care how new their equipment is, I will not patronize anywhere who treats customers with such dismissive and rude behavior. Put up a sign that says, "No hand washing, period" and see how many customers you have after a few months I have spent over $500 at this place over the past few years. Until they start realizing who keeps them in business, I recommend supporting other car wash places. 1 Star and if there was an option for 0 stars Id have given it. Stay away until they start treating customers more fairly.

This is the best do it yourself car wash in San Diego. The rates are great. $5 gets you over 8 minutes in the self serve machines. There are also two "Touchless Automatic" car washes with the best rates around. There is often someone on site to help with trouble, the kept in great shape, in fact, I think everything is new as of just a few months ago! Go here and nowhere else for a great fast DIY car wash! If you find this review under some other business name at the same address, theres a bug in Google Maps thats moving it to the wrong place. The correct address is still 2140 University Ave!

Horrible experience, they have these machines that are super convienent for you to get air freshness and towels to clean your car for $1. However it will take $20 out of our account to charge you $1. When calling about the issue the your guy was very rude, said "thats how we do things and have been for 11 years." I have been going here for 5 years to get my car washed and I will not return. Its one thing to overcharge my bank account but another to not have any customer service to deal with the problem. I hope he learns how o deal with customers so this doesnt happen in the future.

RINSE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!! I was a big fan about the ability to use a credit card for a manual carwash until after my fourth visit when I realized I was getting charged $20 on my card each time. In essence, I paid $80 for $16 worth of service! Who gets $20 worth of time and why didnt the attendant at least mention it to me both times he was there??!!?? Apparently, theres a large sign stating this, but nowhere close to where you swipe your card. I wont go there again for principle alone anymore, but Im sure theyll trap a lot more suckers!

They make you feel like their system will allow you to do a good job washing your car, because youre doing it by hand, but in reality, you get a wash thats inferior to a machine for twice the price. The brushes are laughably weak and dont do anything but remove the barest surface dirt, so you can forget anything you might have to scrub for. I spent 15 minutes washing my car and it still looks dirty. I had to scrub the rest of it off by hand. It was easy enough to remove, which makes it worse that these brushes were so bad.

Best touchless wash Ive experienced in the area and only costs 8 bucks (or 9 if you want two tokens to vacuum your car). Its a tricky area to get into with your car but not anything that should lose a star. There is almost always a line but I suppose that is to be expected so plan ahead if you are in a rush. The self-serve is decent too just remember to hit "stop on the wash afterwards or you run the risk of paying more for your wash than you should. Overall, great experience for the price and location.

Love this car wash for the simple fact that it takes debit and credit cards. We are a generation that has gone digital and frankly unless you are a bartender or server, who actually carries cash anymore? Usually little to no wait for self wash because there are at least 5 self service stalls for you to pressure wash, scrub and spot free rinse your car. If you are quick at washing your car you can usually get away with washing your entire car for around $5-$7.
