Truly exceptional service, from Jony the tech, to Boris the manager, to Leigh the owner! This is not Jiffy Lube. Truly a great value, but a thorough inspection, that uncovered mistakes by the dealer and the company that previously sold me my tires. I highly recommend this specific Midas! I felt compelled to write an update. Jony had reported my water pump was leaking, I passed on the repair at the time, but two weeks later it was making noise. Boris ordered a OEM Lexus water pump and they repaired it perfectly for over $300 dollar less than the dealer quoted me. Yesterday, I had a friend considering a used Audi, they did an oil change and their standard inspection. The car checked out well for except for a few things, but one of those was a significant, but fixable issue. The seller of the car agreed to have them repair it. Leigh pretty much saved the day on her car purchase!

I have moved south to San Diego 5-27-2014 and I actually cried the last time I stopped to have a last appointment at Midas San Rafael. The men & women who own and work at this Midas treat you like family and make sure you are spending your money wisely. They went out of their way for me several times over the 5 years I took my 2002 Mustang to them. I have since gone to a mechanic here for my air-conditioning and they said that my car was in fantastic repair. I told them how wonderful the people at Midas San Rafael are and they where very impressed. If I could I would move back to San Rafael tomorrow just for this shop. I have owned 3 vehicles over the years that all got 200,000 plus miles and this shop is the best shop out of 9 states I have lived in. I can not Thank them enough. I miss you guys hope everyone is Healthy and Happy Thank you so much. Beth

Be careful, these guys are just after your money. I have no comment on the work they do after a inspection as I went for a second opinion. However customer service was awful, the receptionist was rude and unhelpful, he seemed annoyed that I was asking questions or even there at all. They tried to use scare tactics telling me that multiple things were broken and I wouldnt be able to drive me car at all, that it was on the brink of a break down. Then I take my car round the corner to Neuhaus, who informs me yes there a couple of small problems which will need fixing, but its no rush and what I need to keep an eye on. Overall, bad customer service here and they seem to only care about money. DONT GO, go to Neuhaus around the corner for a more personal, cheaper and better service.

I am glad the manager alerted me to something very disturbing. He was not able to remember whether or not my type of van has a hydraulic or a vacuum brake booster but was CERTAINLY able to remember it would need a ton of front-end steering work and that it had oil leaks. Obviously this place needs to stack on charges for people perceived to not be mechanically inclined. I happen to steer my van around all day long without an issue and have not had a single leak since I got it. Although my old ride needs lots of work, it wont be done here or at any midas thanks to the managers information. Trust matters and I would do the work myself if I had the time. Brandons tire center on Lincoln around the corner is where I am trying next. Its upsetting these people wasted my time today.

The prices are average, the service is average. One experience irritated me, though. I brought in my car for an oil change. Everything went fine. Three months later, Johann called my husband and me to remind us that we were due for another. I was home at the time and my husband wasnt. He asked for my husband, I replied that he wasnt home, and then he explained why he was calling. I said, "Okay, thank you," but that wasnt enough for Johann. He urged, "Remember to tell your husband, okay? Write it down. He really needs an oil change." Maybe theres just a cultural barrier, but that struck me as really pushy, like I couldnt be counted on to relay the message to my husband, or like my husband is the one who needs to know. I can bring the car in myself!

Ive been to this Midas several times for oil changes; then I stopped going after a bad experience. I came there one day, after calling them first & telling them I was coming in, seeking some help because my "check engine" light was on. After I got there and waited for 10-15 minutes; I was told that no one could run a diagnostic on my car and that the main mechanic just went on vacation (5 minutes earlier; that same day). Instead, I had to go to the Petaluma Midas where I was immediately helped & serviced. I give the Petaluma Midas 5 stars and the San Rafael Midas 1 star. You have lost me as a customer.

Walked in on 2 separate ocasions asking the man with white hair (possibly owner) if he could do a simple job on my exhsust and asking for an overall price range. He was rude and told me what I needed was hard and couldnt be done. Thats bs because I could take it to johnny franklins next door and theyd do it no problem, but unfortunately there closed today. If I were you I would be careful with this shop because they seem like people that may rip you off. Not trying to make assumptions. Just trying to share my experience. Thats all. Good luck.

I was traveling from out of town for a one night stay in San Rafael when my tire low pressure light came on. I was unfamiliar with San Rafael but found Midas just a little ways down from my hotel. The staff were so kind and helpful and got my car in right away. Unfortunately, my tire couldnt be repaired so they put the small spare tire on and advised me not to exceed 50 miles an hour. Then they told me it would be no charge. I appreciate their excellent service in my time of need. Thank you, Midas Staff!!!

I bought a prepaid Groupon for 3 oil changes, I went in for the first one and received mediocre service. When calling to schedule my second, I was told by the manager they dont take groupons anymore even though I used my first oil change and was in their system for 2 additional prepaid services. Total crooks. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOU BUSINESS.

I have been taking two vehicles there for the last 3+ years for oil changes and service. I have always had a positive experience. They are honest and only fix what needs to be fixed and at a fair price. They forewarn about any routine service which is coming up and I have never felt pressured to get the work done there.
