I walked in one day to see if I could have my oil changed. A lot of those places will gladly take walk in oil changes. The man at the counter had no hint of friendliness to him. "OH! I cant do that TODAY! Ive got WAY TOO much work out there already!". So I made an appointment for 2 days away. "Bring it in Thursday morning." Did not give a specific time. So, I brought it in on Thursday morning at 9:30 am. I gave them my information (again!) and was off to do some shopping in downtown Middletown. I was told when I left that I would recieve a call when my car was done. I was gone for about 2 1/2 hours and hadnt recieved a call yet so I decided to walk back and see what was up. I noticed my car was moved and was hopeful that meant it was done. I walked in the office, they did not recognize me from before. I said "I didnt recieve a call, but I dropped my car off over 2 hours ago by appointment and my car is moved, is it done?" The veryyyy flatly affected guy at the counter said "If it was done, you would have recieved a call." and turned back to do his work. I said "Do you have any idea when it will be done?" He half-assed muffled around with some papers, couldnt find something, looked around for some more, couldnt find it, finally he looked a third place and said "Yours is the next job". Ok so that was good right? Should be no time, oil changes are quick, right? WRONG! I hopefully sat in the waiting area trying the ignore the phone ceaselessly ringing off the hook (no, seriously, no one answered it for at least 3 min of non-stop ringing) So I sat and waited there another 45 min or so. I stood up to see if my car had even moved. A different very unhappy employee saw me and said "Youre not waiting here for your car are you?" I said that I was and that I had dropped it off at 9:30 (almost THREE hours before) by appointment. "Oh," he said "Well thats not how it works around here, you drop it off and then we call you when its done." I could feel myself getting upset, why hadnt ANYONE (3 OR 4 different people I had encountered) told me that!? Not ONE person had relayed that information to me. By saying that my car "was the next job" the man mislead me to believe that it would be done soon. He SAW ME go sit in the waiting room. I am just really tired of car shops treating EVERYONE like they are stupid, and an inconvienience. This is not the first garage that has ever treated me like that. For the price they charge, they should be giving you a foot massage while you wait for your car. Im really not meaning they should be sub-servient to their coustomers, but I am a nurse, I HAVE to be nice to people. If I was ever caught talking to someone how I was talked to there, I would be fired. Maybe I got spoiled growing up. Our local garage (in rural Iowa mind you) was run by my moms teaching partners husband. He was honest, and very fair with his pricing. I think I will copy and paste this review directly to AAA, as this shop is supposedly endorsed by them. UGH!~

I had my p/u towed there one Sunday morning.$80.00 two for 2 miles.Im good with that price.I did my own diagnosis and needed a new starter.I called monday morning and asked for them to call me back with a price to replace the starter.Well,I guess they called my wife to authorize the repair and I got a cell phone call at 3pm saying my truck is ready-$398.00-I didnt authorize this repair.Anyway, heres the breakdown.$222.00 for the starter,-re manufactured, not new.$97.00 labor,$35.00 diagnosis-I did my own diagnosis-I need a starter.$17.00 material fee? Not sure what that is.When I asked the cashier what the diagnosis fee was for he claimed"we check everything"" Ok, what did you find? No response. One of my.my battery terminal covers are missing and the plastic cover for the starter terminals was left in my cupholder.Im not impressed with the overcharging and the $35.00 fee for diagnosis.I know what I needed and I didnt authorize this repair anyway.Ill never go here again.

SAVED THE DAY... They made a disaster of a day just a little bit better. I was driving from Washington DC to Boston, MA and broke down in Cromwell CT. Had a mechanic at a "Shop" (which I wont mention here) try to completely rip me off. I called AAA and they sent Tony from Personal Auto Care to help me out. He towed my Ford Explorer back to Boston (118 miles). I had trouble renting a car one way, so I actually ended up driving back to Boston with Tony. I was all alone on a very long road trip and nervous. He was just so nice and helpful. If you ever need a tow in the area, definitely call these guys. I highly recommend them for the services I used. THANK YOU TONY!!!!!!

I had my car towed to the shop, which was a pleasant experience, however afterwards they refused to let me have my battery installed, because they wanted to sell me a new one. The battery they said was dead I had independently tested and was fine (it is currently working in my car). They also said I couldnt install the battery myself on THEIR lot in my car. While talking with them it became clear that they never tested my battery, and were trying to get rid of me, I ended up fixing the car myself after pulling the car off their lot myself. One person there was friendly, but he wasnt enough to justify the horrible way they treated me.

TERRIBLE..STAY AWAY! They tried to take advantage of my daughter who brough her car here for a flat repair. When she told me the price, I directed her to another repair shop in order to saver her $47. They had just brought her vehicle in and had on the lift and I told them to stop. They responded by cracking her passenger side mirror, smearing the windshield and cup holders with grease and throwing her keys at her. This place is as bad as it gets!

I have been going to Personal Auto Care for all of my auto needs for a long time now. I just recently had my Toyota Tundra pickup in for service and they did a great job and charged me a reasonable price once again for there work. I had new brakes put on and my ABS light was on and they replaced the ABS sensors. I have had them do everything from oil changes to major electrical repairs on my 1998 BMW 3 series, they do it all and do it right.

I had some issues with my car that another shop could not find the problem too. I ended up spending a lot of money to figure out what was wrong with still no results. A friend of mine referred me to Personal Auto Care and they were able to diagnose the problem quickly and I was very impressed in how personable, knowledgeable and professional there mechanics are. Since then I have continued to go here for all of my automotive needs.
