Best in class! Auto Technic is a repair shop that stands out from the crowd because they are intelligently passionate about cars. My 2002 Mini Cooper CVT transmission failed after 125,000 miles and 11 years. If you know the Mini Cooper CVT (continuously variable transmission) then you may know that its failure is a big deal. The dealer quoted me a high four-figure price that was more than the book value of my car...ouch! Other shops around the NYC area offered to try rebuilding the CVT for less, but they would not quote a firm price in advance. The difficulty of repair and high cost of replacing the CVT is a serious dilemma faced by Mini Cooper CVT owners. Auto Technic worked with me and offered me some alternatives. I finally decided to have them install a ZF factory remanufactured CVT with a nice warranty. It wasnt the cheapest alternative but since I want to keep the car it made the most sense. Auto Technic gave me a much better price than the dealer and did a top-notch job. Since they have all of the BMW / Mini Cooper computer diagnostic and tuning systems they returned the car to me running better and shifting better than it has in years. Even though Auto Technic is a long hours drive from my house, I have already brought the car back to them for another, unrelated, repair, with good results. I plan to make them my first choice for Mini Cooper service going forward. If you are stuck with a dead Mini Cooper CVT transmission, youre in a tough spot, but consider going with a factory remanufactured CVT and having Auto Technic do the work. Im glad I did --- my Mini is old and has a lot of miles, but it drives like a new car.

DO NOT BUY OR FIX YOUR CAR HERE!!!! These people are greasier and slimier then the oil in your car and SHOULD NOT BE TRUSTED. I bought a 2003 325xi from these rats with the promise it would require very little maintenance because the car only has 70,000 miles on it. When I purchased the car it had brand new Cooper tires on it and I paid extra to have them replaced with my own snow tires and keep the ones that came with the car. When I went to pick it up they told me that my tires had disappeared and gave me old, used, nearly bald tires instead. In addition to having to paint half of the car that was discolored and full of scratches with chipped paint, I have replaced thousands on dollars worth of parts, some twice, within less than 4 months of owning the car. The key to start the car stopped working after 2 weeks of owning the car, which cost $300 to replace. I have needed to change all of my headlights and tail lights (some multiple times) and once instead of charging me $15 for a headlight, they charged me $150 and it took almost a month to get my money back from this "mistake" charge. After only 6 months of owning the car and needing it towed twice, it completely died. The carfax I was given was not true to the condition of the car and none of the parts I was promised would be replaced or fixed before taking the car were. DO NOT COME HERE!!!!! SAVE YOURSELF TIME AND MONEY BY BUYING A RELIABLE CAR FROM RELIABLE PEOPLE

Wish I could say something good about a small buisness but I really cant. They may do good work on some cars, but they charge too much as well as lie about the products going into your car. I brought my mini cooper to then with a broken axle and payed well over $400 to get an OEM axle and got a remanufactured axle (I went to mini cooper and had them tell me if it was OEM and was told it was a reman and not a OEM company) and a week later it broke. At that point I had them do clutch and the axles which cost me $2700. A month later the axle broke. I was told it was because i was doing burnouts and jumping the car, which is definetly not true. I had to pay over $400 to get it fixed. Now 2 months later my axle, is broken again. I asked for a refund and was told that I could get the axle warrantied and pay for labor which is soppose to be for 30 minutes, yet I paid $400 the last time. I will not return here and I must say, beware that not every mechanic is the same. Safe the time and money and go somewhere else. Unless your willing to pay over and over and over for low quality work, I would recommend staying away from autotechnic.

Took an old Triumph there for simple repairs. 3 and a half MONTHS later.. the car is in worse shape then when it went in. Car was treated like junk and was only worked on between EVERY other customer. Made to feel like my business was not worthy. Car was removed and sent to a different garage where it is now being fixed by a competent mechanic and treated no differently than the 15 million dollar Ferrari it sits next to. Shame I have to pay twice for work. Paid these guys almost $3K and nothing to show for it repairs were paid for but not completed..such as installing exhaust. I was also spoken down to and lied to. I have all emails to prove it. Maybe its a good shop if you own a BMW... but not for anything else. My Triumph went into the shop with clean shiny paint..comes back dull and faded..mold in the interior .. gas cap left not screwed down. Going to cost me even more money to fix all the damage they caused.

I had my car (a VOLVO) "fixed" there a year ago and they were HORRIBLE! I asked them to do three things, fix a leaking oil seal, replace the timing belt and replace the water pump. My car is now at my new mechanic and he is now doing the work they never did! The water pump is leaking and according to my new mechanic the timing belt was NEVER replaced (at least not within the last year). As far as the oil seal, I am not sure what they did because now my head gasket leaks! I took the car back there 3 times because the seal kept leaking, so who knows what they did to get it to stop. The worst part is how much I paid for work that was never even done! I dont know how they stay in business. I have a friend as well, who took his Porsche there, and they were completely inept at figuring out what was wrong. They didnt even know what a compression test was. Dont EVER go there, it woud be a big mistake!

I have been going to Autotechnic regularly after buying a car from them 4 years ago. They keep my old BMW running great without me having to spend a fortune. They know I want to keep this car forever and they are very knowledgeable in helping me do the proper maintenance so I can keep it running. They even pick up and drop off my car when I have work conflicts which is super helpful as I live 40 min away from them. I would highly recommend them and would not bring my car anywhere else!
