Roto Rooter prices are outrageous and the customer service I received from a manager was horrible. I called them because it was an emergency and the technician that came out came up with 3 different ways he "had to" charge us $1,200 to clean our sewer line. At first he wanted to use a camera and my brother, who was the one handling the situation while I was getting ready to leave for work, told him no. Then, he found a second clog that meant he had to charge us double what it costs to clean out the first clog. He hadnt even started on the first clog. He was at the same address, in the same pipe system, and used the exact same equipment. An extra charge is frustrating but not completely out of the question (even though it honestly shouldnt have been an extra charge at all. He provided one service) but to completely double the price was ridiculous. A week later, the problem started up again. So for $800 we got one week of relief. And when I called to tell a manager "Hey, we were charged an outrageous amount of money for a technician to come out and not fix the problem" he once again offered to sell me a $400 camera inspection. I said no, These pipes are only a couple years old, his company should want to know where they messed up and reimburse me for at least half of the first visit since we were charged twice for one service. He said he could send a camera out for free but only put some of the previous charge towards fixing whatever the problem was. I told him if there was a problem, I would certainly not be using his company to fix it. He got upset and said there was no incentive for him to do anything if I wasnt even going to use his company to fix it. I was very disappointed with everyone involved except a very nice lady at the call center named Joy. She was the only one who approached the situation with understanding and respect for me, my house, and how hard I work to earn my money.

this is by far the worst experience I had with a service company. I feel like I just got ripped off. I recently had my water heater changed. Since my water heater was an 80 gallons tank, I have to replace it with a newer model to conform with the new regulation. I told the service man to replace it with the newest hybrid model he can find, but unbeknown to me he replaced it with a discontinued model and he had the audacity to charge me full price for it when everywhere online the same model was listed for $400 less, and on top of that he charged me over $700 worth of "supplies" and refused to show me an itemized list of the supplies he used. and last but not least, the serviceman was not knowledgeable about the plumbing code. he argued with me that it was OK to connect a condensate line to a high pressure relief line. I had to literally explain to him that the manual strictly forbid that for safety reasons. He argued that it was OK and that was how he has been doing it for a long time. OH my god!! Local plumbing code states otherwise. Check your local code dude. I definitely would NOT RECOMMEND this company to anyone unless you want to be ripped off. stay away. I will file a complaint with the BBB against this company for unfair pricing and selling discontinued items at full price. 12/25/2015 Update: I was recently contacted by the Roto-Rooter manager, Keith Austin who felt genuinely concerned about the service I received. He listened to all my complaints and wanted to make things right. he quickly addressed all the issues that I had and issued me a credit for what i felt was overpriced and quickly dispatched another plumber to recheck the previous installation to insure it was done correctly. I wished i had the opportunity to deal with Keith Austin from the very beginning and would had easily given a 5-star rating.

I definitely called the right company when I needed a plumber. The septic tank backed up into my home. The plumber, Pacino Malcolm came out that evening. He quickly knew that the septic tank was the issue and that I needed mold mitigation. He contacted their Water Restoration division on my behalf. Pacino also let me know that I should make a claim with my insurance company which helped me put my mind at ease. Albert Cheatham of their Water Restoration Division came later that night and worked for several hours cleaning. When he returned, Albert, Jose and all the men were most professional. They were there for several long days. They came on time every day. Always let me know when they were leaving so I could secure my home. They worked hard the entire time they were there, They werent standing around talking or being on their cellphones. Albert and Jose made sure my floors were cleaned at the end of the day. They kept me informed of their progress daily. What I learned is that Roto-Rooter is a full service company. They referred me to mold mitigation, a septic tank company and a contractor to rebuild my home. Albert worked with my insurance company when any new issue arose. I am recovering from knee replacement surgery. Pacino, Albert and Jose took care of all of my needs. I could rest up trusting that they would get the job done. Thank you Pacino, Albert, Jose and all the workers for doing a fantastic job. Roto-Rooter should be proud of how Pacino, Albert, Jose and the rest of the workers represented their company.

I have no issue with the plumber that came out but the charge was insane for what was done. They tried to get me to pay $600 for a pressure relief valve. What are they smoking? Even still they charged about $350/hr (for 2 hours) for the labor which involved replacing about 3ft of copper pipe and some minor digging. Again, the plumber, Michael, was great. Id recommend him but not the company. UPDATE: I can tell you that Roto-Rooter does pay attention to the reviews because the day after I wrote the review, I got a phone call from the local field manager about it. The next day I received e-mails from division managers. After sharing photos of the work that was done, they gave me a partial refund. I am somewhat satisfied but I still think the charge for service was more than it should have been. However, they came when they said they would, the plumber was friendly and knowledgeable , and they were quick to follow up to make sure I was happy with the job. At the end of the day, would I use them again? Probably, but I wouldnt be so quick to sign the contract. My recommendation to Roto-Rooter is that you should train your guys to have better judgement when determining the cost of service. For $350/hr, I expect my yard to be mowed, my cars to be washed, and my laundry done in addition to the plumbing job. If you decide to use them, Im sure youll be satisfied with the work. Just make sure to question and discuss the price they quote you. Theyll work with you.
