Weve been very happy with the service at Medlock. We moved to Atlanta in January with a vehicle in pretty rough shape. My boyfriend and I are clearly not from the area, and know little about cars. Weve visited Medlock at least three times in the last 7 months for transmission problems, brake issues, and an oil change. Each time, the gentleman that runs the place not only remembered us, but told us exactly what was wrong and what our options were. The car is clearly in bad shape, but hes patient and understanding - never pushy. Twice hes taken us right to the car to point out and explain the issues - making sure we completely understand the problems. He provides recommendations (often in the form of Plan A, Plan B, and Plan C) and time lines for considering work on the vehicle. With his calm demeanor, diligent service, and welcoming attitude, we will no doubt continue building our relationship with Medlock for years to come. Its nice to know we have a mechanic that we can turn to in our new home.

Have taken my car to Medlock Gulf on two occasions, both times for a simple oil change. Odd thing is both times didnt get out of the place for less than $300.00 dollars. Both times I dropped the car off and they said they would call. Well, they called alright, and each time it was some kind of issue that really needed to be taken care of. I am a woman and I dont know anything about car issues. I hate to falsely accuse anyone, still I find it rather odd. Oh, BTW the last repair they did they left a screw out of something in the steering column. I got about one mile from Medlock Gulf and could barely turn the steering wheel. I managed to get the car back over to them and I told them about the prob. They said they would call, well they did a few hours later, and this is what I was told "oh, so and so (I wont mention their name) forgot to put that screw back in." Jeezus, too much stupidity for me.

Do NOT bring your car here. Our 2011 Audi failed to pass emissions. The guys at this shop said it needed one "small" piece replaced to pass. That "small" piece was $600 to install. After that the car immediately started having myriad other problems that it had never had before, eventually breaking down on the side of the road. When I called them to talk about it, they could not have cared less. In fact they seemed annoyed and even admitted that AFTER the installed the part numerous new warning lights came on. Of course they did not bother to inform us at the time. One of two things happened; they were either incompetent when it came to the complexity of the engine or they sabotaged the engine hoping to get more business from us. Either way, I was disgusted with the entire experience.

Charged me almost $70 for oil change which lasted less than 20 minutes. The problem is even if I paid that much money , they didnt use manufacturer recommended synthetic oil..Toyota recommends 0w-20 synthetic oil for recent models, but they used different oil. After a week , when I opened the hood, I found the lid hanging ,they didnt close the tank mouth I am glad , no accident. After ,I wrote the review online, They told me they used the right oil , but it was a typo error on the paper ...who believe that? .They seem poor in communication too. He asked me if I want synthetic or regular oil, I asked him to tell me the difference, he told me " synthetic has all the good stuff." To me, they are not trustworthy .

I have been a customer of Medlock Gulf for about two years and I think they do a great job. I really admire their honesty, practicality and respect for their customers. Even though the price is not dirt cheap, I feel like it is much cheaper than the dealers. In fact, when I did get a dealer repair I found out that they would have done the work considerably cheaper. They always offer you a lift to where you need to go so they can work on your car and you dont waste your time. And I feel they have never misrepresented a necessary repair. I would trust their judgement inspecting a future used car purchase. Refered from a girlfriend, who has used them for years.

I do not think I will ever return to this place. Half an hour worth of labor is $58. So that equals $116/hr. What a rip off. I used to work for a dealership, thats how much they pay their mechanics. This is not a dealership Karl. This is a gas station turned into a mechanics shop. You should not be charging dealership rates "to keep the lights on" haha. Save your money and go to a REAL independent shop thats honest and charges you FAIR rates. Last time I checked, an independent shop charges $55/hr for labor. Not $58 for half of that hour. I know some stealerships who charge less for labor than you guys.

I have an older model Infiniti I was dreading December (my birthday month) because last year I spent $855.00 to get the waiver the mechanic could not fix the problem. Well guess what Medlock found the problem and fixed in a day saving me 60% of a headache. Medlock Gulf has AWESOME mechanics, nice and not too busy to help. They dropped me off at work that morning and when I told them I may need a pickup they were at my job waiting on me. (WOW) It’s like a small town gas station. I stumbled onto Medlock Gulf. I will never go any other place. I wish I lived closer… small price. Thanks Medlock Gulf

We couldnt be happier with Paul Hampton and crew. He has cared for our many cars (Hondas and Toyotas mostly) for more than 10 years and weve sent several friends his way as well. Paul has great integrity; he never promises more than he can deliver nor does he do more (or more costly) work than is warranted. Several years ago he even put us in touch with a buyer for our minivan. What more could we ask for? Carpool service to and from home/work? Theyve got that covered. Key drop-off for late night delivery? A secure box was recently installed. Whats not to love?

I went here for an oil change and tire rotation, and they told me I needed a new air filter too, so I paid for that. Then they told me I needed new brake pads and that if I didnt replace them very soon, I would ruin my rotors. I didnt have time to get them changed that day, and I ended up taking it to a different mechanic close to my house. They looked at it and it turns out my brake pads were completely fine, they just needed the dust cleaned out. They cleaned them for $25. I am very glad I didnt waste $200+ replacing the, because this place told me to.

Overall this is a convenient place. The courtesy shuttle is fantastic. Before I ever had major work done, they had done things like top off my coolant for free. I had brake work done and the price was comparable to a quote I got elsewhere. It was speedy and the courtesy shuttle helped immensely. Im giving 4 instead of 5 stars because one time they missed something on my 27 point inspection, but overall this is now my go-to place. I used to use K&M for everything, but theyre inconvenient and too busy.
