Starting September 7, 2007, the Des Plaines Post Master, John P. Mulligan, began a discriminatory action against all the residents of Touhy Mobile Home Park, (having a Des Plaines mailing address), by refusing ‘any’ attempts to deliver any parcels, to any residents there. Where in other areas, postal carriers take parcels to a residential address and attempt delivery of parcels by ringing a doorbell to deliver such parcels. If the resident is home, the parcel gets delivered, if not a notice is ‘then’ written and placed in the mailbox for the resident to pick up the parcel at the Post Office, or to sign the notice, and have the parcel brought back out for delivery on the following delivery day. However the Des Plaines Post Master adopted a policy that no parcels will even be attempted to be delivered to residents of Touhy Mobile Home Park! Whether any resident is home or not. Instead, any parcels addressed to any resident at Touhy Mobile Home Park, are left at the Post Office, and hand written notices are filled out ‘at the Post Office’ then left in mailboxes with any other mail, for the residents to pick up their parcels at the Post Office! If parcels are not picked up by a resident within a certain amount of time, the parcels are returned to the sender! Within Touhy Mobile Home Park are many elderly and or disabled residents that depend on receiving their parcels delivered to their residences. Many residents do not drive, and many receive their medications through the mail. For ‘years’ the Des Plaines Post Office had ‘violated’ Postal Policies and Regulations by just leaving parcels on resident’s porches, and doorsteps, creating security concerns over theft of parcels, in plain sight, sitting on doorsteps and porches in this community of about 475 homes. Before just ‘tossing’ parcels up on doorsteps and porches in this community, there used to be ‘parcel boxes’ located next to the regular mailboxes in this community. If a parcel was addressed to a resident in this community, that parcel would be placed in the ‘larger’ parcel box, locked up and the key would be placed in the resident’s regular mailbox, to retrieve when the regular mail was picked up. However the Post Office did such a poor job installing these parcel boxes that within a few years, they began just falling over. The Post office refused to reinstall these parcel boxes properly, hauled them away, and then adopted the policy of just tossing parcels on porches and doorsteps, violating Postal Regulations! The Post Office ‘claims’ that the reinstallation of the parcel boxes are not within their budget. While the cost of postage continues to increase, and postal workers are ‘showered’ with unbelievable perks and benefits of being Federal employees! So as a result of what can only be described as ‘mismanagement’, the Post Master of the Des Plaines Post Office, John P. Mulligan, sent out notices to all the residents of Touhy Mobile Home Park, in a letter dated September 7, 2007, basically stating that parcels that are too large to fit in the regular mail compartments, will have to be picked up at the Post Office. Where it is not uncommon to have to wait in line for 20 minutes to be served! Not to mention the inconvenience of residents to have to travel to the Post Office to pick up mail and parcels where postage was paid to be delivered to their homes! Individual and class action lawsuits are being discussed.

If I was able to give this place no stars. I would give them NO STARS. Horrible customer service. I had an issue with a delivery and I simply asked to double check information for me with the tracking number because the way everything was labeled on USPS.COM was completly out of order. A lady picked up and from the beginning she sounded like she was fed up with her job. She gave me attitude on the phone when all I was looking for was help.. she handed the phone to someone else and I had to explain myself all over again and the guy was really rude. All I wanted was someone to help me find my package because it has been lost for the past 2 weeks. I see it scanning back and fwd from facilities and I just need help. This place really needs to train their employee or fire.. like I read on another review.. I just think its horrible the way they talk to you. I have called 3 times trying to get a hold of information about my package but noone seems to be nice enough and give attitude right away. You really need to do something about it.. Its crazy how all your employee are so unhappy at your location. Its ridiculous! & Im sorry to say but whoever management is at this location needs to do their job or maybe fire them as well.. since management really is a reflection of their employees.

If you are unlucky enough your package will be delivered to this usps location. Very rude staff, they are yelling at you and hanging up on you and then ignoring your calls. They had my package for one week and it was wrong zip code on the package I was trying to find out what is the problem and how I can get my package and nobody was able to help me. I had to call all the time and they was promising to call me back after investigation and nobody ever did. I had to go and pick it up myself. They are talking to you as you are retarded. One time I was at work and I excused myself and said that I have to go because Im at work and I will call back later and the answer was "why" and he ignored what I said and was insisting with continuing. So I had to hang up. I dont want to have any nosiness with this people any more!!!!!STAY AWAY if you dont want to be abused!

Long lines every single time. Ordered a package and it was not delivered. Had to go to the Post Office on 3 separate occasions to deal with this. I was told to leave a note on the mail box that it was ok to leave packages in the mail box. I did that. The mailbox that was installed is a large metal mailbox which is very sturdy and has plenty of room for small to medium size packages. 4 days go by and still nothing. That was followed by 2 more trips to the post office and in the end when I tracked the package using the tracking number on the website it said that I had moved with no forwarding address. Complete and utter B$&@$&! #. Very disappointed. Never had this problem until they got a new manager. I AM SO GLAD I AM LEAVING THIS S!@$&%! OF A F!@$%#* CITY.
